Day 27 - Beneath Mother's Waves
Again, the way that they're portraying an in-lore evil goddess is interesting to me.
While reading about the Bitch Queen Umberlee I kind of assumed that most "good/neutral" civilizations would be more drawn towards Deep Sashelas if they were inclined to pay tribute to whoever commanded the seas, but Umberlee has this massive church right by the docks where anyone can come and present offerings/request protection. Her followers are a little fanatic, sure, but not really any more than most churches and not any more destructive than any other organization.
Maybe Umberlee despite her capricious nature is just more well-recognized, or perhaps she has more power over the sea than Deep Sashelas, or maybe it is easier to try to appeal to her nature to avoid giving you a good thrashing out against the sea than it is to try to appeal to Deep Sashelas to protect you, especially to protect you from her. I don't really know, I mostly get my information about the deities of this world when something sparks my interest enough to read about them on the Forgotten Realms wiki.
I did love the funeral, very pretty, and yeah she does 100% seem the type to offer a mercy kill when her followers are suffering rather than going out of her way to preserve their life on this plane.
Smash or Pass? Umberlee

Made a new wig for Umberlee in preparation for Resin Rose since it is ocean themed this year ^_^
I made this by stretching a nylon sock over her head, painting it with pva glue, trimming the sock to be a wig cap, making hair wefts by cutting satin ribbons to the rights size, sealing one end with a lighter, and unraveling them. Then I just had to glue them to the wig cap. I tried to make the back base of the wig with darker colors (dark blue and green) then gradually having the colors get lighter towards the front/top. I was trying to mimic the colors of the ocean. I like how the shiny satin looks appropriate for a water doll, not sure I would like it for a normal doll, but I could always try some of those “make a cheap wig less shiny” hacks on a future wig if I use this technique again. Not bad for my first non-fur wig!
Need to be passed around by the devotees of umberlee (wavemother robe broke my brain)
She scared the shit out of me.
