Donations have slowed down hugely, so I figured this needs to come back. In answer to something I’ve seen floating around: Yes, the goal has gone up twice. No, this isn’t shady at all. They set goals based on the estimated cost of a recount in each state in turn. I first saw this page when the target was 2.5 mil, and even then it clearly explained that, with fees, attorney costs, recount watchers, etc factored in, the total bill for all three states was expected to be 6-7 million. They set the goals so that if theyfailed they could still do something. Now they’re on track to do everything. If we can get them the rest of the way there.

HARRY POTTER AU

(long but it happened while I was marathoning the movies)

-One of the Weasley twins (George) is a squib (we’ll get to why that’s important), as is Petunia Dursley (nee Evans).

-Hogwarts allows non-magical/squib siblings into the school if their brother or sister is a witch or wizard. They can take classes like herbology and care of magical creatures, but otherwise they learn muggle subjects such as home economics, math, science, etc.

-Squibs have a club where they try to practice magic even though they know they won’t be able to do it anyway.

-Petunia always tries her hardest to cast spells but isnt successful because she wants to be like her little sister. She always has an appreciation for magic and respects her little sister despite feeling a bit jealous of Lily’s abilities. Petunia keeps trying to practice magic despite how Vernon feels about it, and again, she isn’t successful.

-After Lily dies, Harry is sent to live with the Dursley’s. Vernon is still an asshole, but Petunia loves Harry like her own son. She doesnt always show it in front of Vernon because she doesn’t want Vernon taking out that anger on her or Dudley or for Harry to experience any more abuse, but she does. Even though Vernon forces Harry to live under the stairs, every night after Vernon is asleep, Petunia sneaks downstairs and carries Harry out to the couch so he can sleep comfortably for the night. Whenever Harry has a nightmare as a child, Petunia makes sure she can be there to comfort him and that he always feels safe coming to her when he’s scared.

-Dudley still picks on Harry a lot, but he thinks of him as a brother and will stick up for him when he gets picked on or is in a fight

-Harry grows up loved and cared for both by Petunia/Dudley, as well as the Weasley’s. He’s got a huge family that all care about him deeply (except Vernon)

-Petunia seeing how much Vernon’s abuse has affected Harry and allowing him to go live with the Weasley’s just to protect him, even though she will miss him and his spirit when he’s gone. Harry (same as in the books) considers the Weasley’s to be his family but still goes to visit the Dursley’s every chance he gets.

-By the time the Battle of Hogwarts rolls around, Petunia is so concerned for Harry’s safety that she goes to the school to try and help however she can. She arrives just in time and helps out with different things around Hogwarts as the magical community fights.

-Petunia’s only successful spell comes when she blocks a killing curse meant for George because she knows he cant defend himself. She knew the loss of George would absolutely devastate Harry, and she doesn’t want him to lose a brother. She doesn’t know at this point that Fred has been killed, but she knows she has to protect the family that has helped raise Harry.

-George’s only successful spell comes with killing Yaxley, thereby saving a younger student who wanted to fight.
