Gif illustration I made for Suomen Kustannusyhdistys to promote to teachers so they’d get better published books and e-books for schools.

Ps. Tumblr could you increase the size limitations for GIFs? Maybe from 2MB to 5MB? Would help so so much. Thanks!
Awesome women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields!

So I’m not really a self-promote-y kinda tumblr, but my first book just came out today and I am so hyped my toes might fall off at any minute. So, if you have a second, here’s the basic gist of it:
‘This is what happens when a poem and a dirty joke meet, love each other very much, and decide to have a baby. This collection of cruel & unusual love poetry focuses on a variety of different loves and love types- everything from Romeo and Juliet, to Cats and Mice. Jam-packed with dark and sexual humour, this book is sure to leave you with something to think about and have a chuckle at next date night.’
The synopsis leaves out that you’ll also probably like it if you’re very very single and cynical.

The FCC sided with Comcast and decided to let ISPs censor the internet. The Internet needs to stop this from happening: http://cms.fightforthefuture.org/tellfcc/
Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a “ fast lane” of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCC’s previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISP’s like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that don’t pay the toll.
We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.
We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesday’s announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]
This is a critical moment. In the last few weeks more than 65,000 people have taken action with us. Can you help us get to 80,000 by the end of the day today?

I try to keep the things I reblog as blog/mun-centric as possible, but this is something I just can’t let slide.
I’ve been following this cause since last year. I’ve signed petitions, I’ve called representatives, I’ve been to protests, the whole nine yards.
This right here? This is not a joke. This is seriously happening, guys.
Remember the Wikipedia shutdown? That was to protest this right here. If you haven’t taken action against this yet, frankly, what is wrong with you? If this doesn’t get stopped, we’re going to lose the thing that brings us all together unless we shell out huge sums of cash to these corrupt bastards.
Do not just sit there and keep browsing.
Do not scroll past this.
Fight.
You can join the movement here and to any of you struggling out there just know that: It Is Going To Be Okay
I actually can’t wait to get mine, this is such a wonderful concept💕
This post made me choke up and get misty eyed. I have made 7 attempts on my own life starting at the age of 11.
It does get better. It is going to be okay.
Honestly, some people underestimate just how much a small statement can help someone.
Immediately had to buy this. On my way home from work there are a few houses with signs that say “you are worth it” and “don’t give up” and honestly it means so much.
Star Wars Items of the Month
Scientists invented fabric that makes electricity from motion and sunlight. To create the fabric, researchers at Georgia Tech wove together solar cell fibers with materials that generate power from movement. It could be used in “tents, curtains, or wearable garments,” meaning we’d virtually never be without power. Source
Y'all are fucking idiots. Clean energy will NEVER be enough to replace the energy we have now. We’d have to tear down DOZENS of forests just to fit enough windmills and solar panels to get even a QUARTER (probably less, tbh) of the energy we can produce now.
Yeah, sure, when they’ve already calculated that a few square miles of panels in the empty ass Arizona desert could power the whole nation. But ok, fracking and the diminishing petroleum supply is worlds better.
Nevermind that windmills are often most efficient off the coast. There they take up no land, impact no trees, don’t pollute the water, and are conveniently located where winds are often strongest anyway.
And solar panels can literally be built into roofs of buildings and in empty areas like deserts. The sun strikes the Earth with the same amount of energy in an hour that our civilization uses in a year.
But yeah, it would be impossible for us to ever have enough energy from clean sources.
Durr hurr technology is bad and I would rather light shit on fire than have clean energy
I can also testify to the Arizona desert being empty ass. And the California desert. And the Nevada desert.
also…no forests were cleared to make space for Denmark’s windmills and yet they regularly produce so much power that it covers almost all of the country’s power needs. Oh, and then there’s the times when the windmills generate 140% of Denmark’s power needs. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/jul/10/denmark-wind-windfarm-power-exceed-electricity-demand
Friendly reminder that oil pipelines are a scam.
The fact that anyone can believe a limited amount of dinosaur oil is more plentiful and efficient than moving air or fucking sunlight is proof that entire populations can be completely brainwashed.
