what they don't tell you is that a well-written fic can get you to ship anything, and i mean ANYTHING. notp? not anymore. you will stay up late thinking about and crying over them for the rest of your life. characters you don't even know from a piece of media you've never engaged with? fuck it, they belong to you now. problematic ship that you loved to hate and now just love to love, that you must never tell your friends about? don't worry, ao3 knows how to keep a secret. like. a well-written fic will have you acting UP and that's a fact baby !!
brat tamers are funny wdym youâre turned on by getting ragebaited
brats you aren't safe either you get turned on by someone thinking you're annoying
I was worried when he didn't rush out to greet me immediately but it was just because he was cozy.
Brevity is the soul of wit & this was so damn creative
[ID: a woman stands in front of a hell landscape cgi. she's talking to someone out of view; "... Not supposed to be here, I'm Hindu, I'm supposed to be reincarnated, I told you this bef-"
She's cut off my a section of Lil Nas X's song Montero, specifically the line "... Me in the the mornin', i'll be on...". As the line plays, she looks to the side down, as if something nearby is falling. The music fades in, gets louder, and fades back out. She pauses after it fades all the way out.
"Who the fuck was that??" End ID]
âI told you this beforeâ implying she has died and gone to Hell more than once, either in this life or a past
everytime she dies she has to go through this whole long process of paperwork and bribery to get reincarnated
Listen, I completely understand why it was an issue for some people, but I still think that naming the original release of Deltarune âSURVEY_PROGRAM.exeâ was really really funny
also when you opened it you had to agree to the end user license agreement, which just said "YOU WILL ACCEPT EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS FROM NOW ON." and when people on twitter told him their antivirus was flagging it as a threat, he posted a "fix" that was just a screenshot of the windows defender popup with the "run anyway" button circled
#it's like taking candy from an unmarked white van#and the candy is wrapped in tinfoil and printer paper and the ingredients list just says ''dude trust me''#but you know that guy is a chocolatier and made the best damn truffles you ever tasted so you take the free van candy anyway#and it turns out that it is pretty good candy that this guy was just giving out for free (from yardsards)
unpopular opinion probably but I actually like that ao3 doesnât let people take back their kudos.
unlike social media platforms (which ao3 is not) where people unlike stuff whenever they think or find out the original postersâ moral compass doesnât perfectly align with their ownâs or whatever, and âlikesâ can be taken back at any time, ao3 treats kudos as something sacred. once you give it, itâs the authorâs to keep forever.
Best part is if someone deletes their account, the kudos remains, and it just gets swapped over to a guest kudos instead. The body is gone but the love remains.
it's such bs that the whole guilt-ridden stoic self-sacrificing martyr thing doesn't work outside of fiction. repressing all your emotions and neglecting your physical wellbeing should make you god's most tragically beautiful morally unassailable little soldier of righteousness but all it does is give you bad skin and gastrointestinal problems
like what do you MEAN the number 1 sexiest character trait of all time is just kind of offputting and bad for you in real life. next you'll tell me smoking has consequences other than looking like a mysterious badass
correct
Today, one of my second graders was working on shape name recognition, and we got to this picture of a pyramid shape with a wide-ish base. When he saw it, his eyes lit up and he turned to me with a huge grin on his face, pointed at it, and said "When the teacher forgets to assign homework" before bursting out into hysterics, covering his mouth and giggling. I don't understand what happened except this kid CLEARLY knows about the strong comedic and memeable value of mathematical shapes and emotions that I, an old millennial, cannot comprehend I did, however, try to recreate this moment as the meme this child must have seen in his head
maybe he was thinking of the dancing triangle meme??
i have seen this gif with that exact caption before. this is absolutely the one he was thinking of
That kid saw one of the simplest geometric shapes and said that's blorbo from my memes đ
Not even the correct shape. That dancing dude is a triangular prism.
The difference between "There used to be hot summers too,â and a climate crisis.

The best part about this episode is the ending. Steven was so worried about what Connie will think of him because of how vocal she is about disliking the ending to the book series theyâre reading together. But then Steven finally gets to voice his opinions, and she listens, and he offers insight she MISSED and didnât pick up on because she wasnât focused on the same areas of interest Steven was.
I hate how much of internet discourse and fandom culture is just shouting over each other and refusing to engage with other fans and the media itself in good faith.
it's just really apparent that people think it's okay to want pain but morally abhorrent to want to give it. sorry but the sadist gets to have fun too. it's actually pretty crucial to the process.
if I said I was going to a taekwondo class would you feel the need to tell me kicking people on the street is bad or.
Image ID: A screenshot of a tumblr comment that says "yeah, its only abhorrent imo, when the recipient is non consenting, i've" the screenshot cuts off.
"terminally ill people should be allowed to choose to die if they feel it is the best decision for them" and "euthanasia can easily become eugenics" and "we should provide support for depressed and suicidal people" are statements that can come into conflict but should all be respected
also âoffering euthanasia to people who canât afford actual treatment is murderâ
i say this in all seriousness, a great way to resist the broad cultural shift of devaluing curiosity and critical thinking is to play my favorite game, Hey What Is That Thing
you play it while walking around with friends and if you see something and don't know what it is or wonder why its there, you stop and point and say Hey What Is That Thing. and everyone speculates about it. googling it is allowed but preferably after spending several minutes guessing or asking a passerby about it
weird structures, ambiguous signs, unfamiliar car modifications, anything that you can't immediately understand its function. eight times out of ten, someone in the group actually knows, and now you know!
a few examples from me and my friends the past few weeks: "why is there a piece of plywood sticking out of that pond in a way that looks intentional?" (its a ramp so squirrels that fall in to the pond can climb out) âą "my boss keeps insisting i take a vacation of nine days or more, thats so specific" (you work at a bank, banks make employees take vacation in long chunks so if youre stealing or committing fraud, itll be more obvious) âą "why does this brick wall have random wooden blocks in it" (theres actually several reasons why this could be but we asked and it was so you could nail stuff to the wall) âą "most of these old factories we drive past have tinted windows, was that just for style?" (fun fact the factory owners realized that blue light keeps people awake, much like screen light does now, so they tinted the windows blue to keep workers alert and make them work longer hours)
been playing this game for a long time and ive learned (and taught) a fuckton about zoning laws, local history, utilities (did you know you can just go to your local water treatment plant and ask for a tour and if they have a spare intern theyll just give you a tour!!!) and a whole lot of fun trivia. and now suddenly you're paying more attention when youre walking around, thinking about the reasons behind every design choice in the place you live that used to just be background noise. and it fuckin rules.
do it grieving
do it while the ground falls out from under you; do it while everything you loved goes up in smoke; do it while the dream of your future is still burning embers around you; build anew on the hot ashes of everything you worked for; keep going, keep loving, keep living, even as all you want is to turn back (there is no turning back; it is gone already); do it through grief, which feels like fear in the body
do it grieving
The tag I have seen most often on this post is "I needed to hear this," and I am so, so grateful to have said something that was needed. These words came out of the depths of my own grief, and I am so grateful to have made this small connection with others in the midst of it. Grief is isolating and indescribable, but none of us are alone.
That said, these tags were what I needed to hear:
we're all gonna make it
it's okay if you can't see how yet. you don't have to believe in better. for now it is enough to just keep going, and eventually the path will emerge. you are not alone. you are not lost in the woods forever. keep going. I love you.
