I think a prime example of what it’s like to be a Jew happened last night at my synagogue. We were talking about how as a society faith organizations need to come together and protect each other. The speaker, who is Jewish, goes “we need to protect vulnerable Catholics, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Sikhs in our community.” And someone goes “and Jews.” And she says “oh yeah and Jews.”

It’s so telling that even in our own community we center others. Because if we don’t we’re seen as selfish. They love to throw Tikkun Olam at us and we tend to put it on ourselves in a way that makes us push down what’s happening to our own people in order to help everyone else. And that’s not a bad thing at all, in fact it’s good. But like all good things it needs balance. We need to be allowed to say “this really scary thing is happening to our community” and we need those outside of our community to go “yes that’s bad we should help them.”

You know what, I don't care about Israelis not uprooting their whole lives en mass to prioritize condemning their government. Weird that such a bizzare expectation is at all normalized, but we know why.

The reality is that Zionists might care more about Israel's individual actions during war if antizionists cared less. Presently they do more than enough caring for both groups, and not enough caring for any other current event. Makes it hard to take their complaints seriously. Jews, on the other hand, are being asked (demanded) to renounce their only assurance of life in an increasingly hostile world, because of lack of.... perfect morality during war. Ok, I was under the impression one couldn't come out of war without blood on their hands, maybe that there was even extensive literature on the subject, but I guess not for Jews.

Fuck holier-than-though Puritan competitions. Life is messy, war is hell, and I am a realist with academic background in human decision-making. People are simply not going to prioritize government mishandlings over the lives of themselves and their children, and you have no right to ask them to. That is, famously, the line in the sand. If you read this and recoil, feeling that Jews everywhere should simply martyr themselves to uphold your principles, perhaps reflect on why you hold Jews to that standard, and whether you hold Palestinians to that standard. You shouldn't hold either group, btw, and you should learn more about people and how to work with them and imperfect realities, and less time yelling in ways that help nobody. For the life of me, how can you not see the hypocrisy of this denalism and then line up behind pedestaled yet problematic figures and say "well their failings as people/disinformation/questionable funding/nazi tattoos/etc etc aren't important and we shouldn't detract from fighting the real fight." America and Canada, where I live, are both colonized nations built on the blood of Indigenous peoples. That is a gruesome, undisputed fact. That the refugees from other countries that flee here seeking safety and a better life dont deserve that same safety and protection, even if they are settling on colonized land. When the British colonized these lands and killed everyone who was already here, they did it purely in pursuit of power. To expand their empire, to make something theirs and rule the way they wanted. And they could have had a peaceful existence here, it's not like there isnt enough land. But they didnt do that.

Israel was not founded out of a desire for power or conquest. There were people making their way to the area they were told was the holy land for years, sure, but even those folks were by and large motivated by pogroms, not simply a desire for a nice chance of scenery.

Without the Holocaust, Israel never would have been founded. We were forced out of our homes AGAIN and not allowed to return. You sickos keep telling people "go back to Poland" as if people didnt TRY. You think they didn't just want to go home? There was no home.

"Feminism" Is a pretty broad spectrum of thought. At it's base, feminism simply is the belief that people should have access to the same opportunities and rights regardless of their sex or gender. That's really broad!

There are some feminists who go super radical with it and turn that into "Men are evil creatures who need to be destroyed". There are some feminists who get super transphobic with it and turn it into "women are Biological Adult Human Females and trans people are monsters". There are some people who reject it as "feminism is not needed because women already have all the rights they could ever want" (imo these people are stupid). There are some people who reject it because "feminism is too controversial we need something new".

But generally speaking, the vast majority of feminists kind of... Just don't want people to be harassed, assaulted, and murdered for their sex or gender. The vast majority of feminists are against the pervasive, systemic violence against women (and people perceived as women) and all the other shit that comes with it. The vast majority of feminists just want people targeted by the patriarchy to be able to live their damn lives without fear.

And that's pretty much what Zionism is. Some folks are extremists with radical and often violent ideals. But if you were to suggests that TERFs and radfems are somehow the majority of feminists and that all feminists hate men on this hellsite, I have a feeling you would get some pushback. Because that's incorrect. If you were to go FURTHER and suggest that, actually, those guys who got REALLY upset about women demanding to be treated like equals who now call themselves incels and MRAs and whatever are ACTUALLY the ones who have the REAL definition of feminism, and they're right- feminism means that all men are evil and awful and feminsist hate men and want all women to be lesbians and they want to destroy society and kill all men and they're all just ugly lonely man-haters...
