Why are the muscles in your feet like that. Ohhhhhhh sorry you flexed the wrong tendon in the wrong place at the wrong time. Torture dungeon indefinitely unless you assume this specific position for a minute
The irony of this new breed of self-righteous AI hunters on AO3 is that they're all just copy and pasting peoples fics into AI detectors, which are all operated by AI and therefore THEY are feeding people's work into the algorithm without their consent and in some cases no doubt circumventing the locks people put on to avoid getting scraped...
Don't copy and paste anyone's AO3 work into third party websites, you're not the good guys in this situation?
Unions are trash. Theyll Destroy a whole company for firing a shitty worker.
unions are the reason you arenât paid 2.50 an hour with steel beams about to bust ya head open shut up lol
Unions are why you have 5 day, 40 hour full-time work weeks. Unions are why they have to pay you in actual dollars instead of âcompany creditsâ that you can only spend at the company-owned stores. Unions are why there are fucking fire exits at your place of work. Unions are why itâs not okay for your supermarket ground beef to be any percentage human.
You think your company pays you out of the goodness of their hearts? Or even out of âmarket pressure?â The âjob marketâ is a myth perpetuated by the capitalists. Corporations would pay you nothing if they could get away with it. And you argue âoh, but if they paid me nothing Iâd just go to another one.â Wrong. Because to maximize profits, they all want to pay you nothing. Corporations exist to maximize profits while reducing risk for investors. Itâs part of their entire function to find ways to cut costs as much as possible, and that includes finding ways to pay you nothing.
Unions are your defense against that. You think all a union does is strike? If you pay union dues, a lot of that is spent on lobbyists in various governments reminding your lawmakers that you have rights as a living human being that a corporation should not be able to stomp all over. Unions hire lawyers so that if youâre fired for bullshit reasons, the union can stand up for you against your boss. Theyâre called unions because workers are uniting to pool resources so that they can stand up to these corporate overlords with more money than God. Unions exist because you might not have the words, resources, or time to fight workplace injustices all by yourself. Thatâs the whole fucking point.
And if a business shuts down because a union is striking, itâs because the business was abusing people and didnât deserve to be in business anyway. Donât make excuses for the corporations. They already have trillions of dollars and a couple million lawyers to do that for themselves. They donât need your help.
The erasure of labor history from US history curriculum has caused so much fucking damage to this country.Â
Bosses: If you donât like how we do things, donât work here.
Workers: *Go on strike*
Bosses: Wait no not like that
A lot of union folk very literally fought and died for the workersâ rights we have today. Like no joke, bosses would hire goons to straight-up murder unionizing and striking workers.
All the most basic workersâ rights we have today were all paid for in blood. And conservatives have never stopped trying to take them all away again.
NEVER FORGET THAT LABOR DAY IS ACTUALLY ABOUT. I know people who legitimately think itâs like a secondary mothers day - you know, for going into labor.
But itâs about workers rights and the people who campaigned for it to be a holiday knew this fucking day would come.
If you are in the US and about to celebrate a 3-day weekend, thank a goddamn union worker.
its labor day where the fuck is homestar runner
gotta do everything my damn self around here
Apologizing when youâve messed up without spiralling is so important for your relationships.
Messing up doesnât make you a monster. It makes you human. And learning how to apologize with care, without guilt-tripping or panicking, is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your relationships.
Hereâs some ideas of how to do this.
Pause and take a breath.
Before you rush in with âIâm sorry, Iâm the worst, please donât leave,â take a breath. Remind yourself that youâre not bad. Youâre learning. You can handle this. And if needed, try a skill to prevent any urges.
Genuinely apologize with the intent to validate and show remorse, not to get reassurance.
A good apology isnât about begging for reassurance. Itâs about acknowledging your impact.
âIâm really sorry for what I said. I see now that it hurt you, and that wasnât okay.â This is a great way to apologize instead of something like âIâm sorry Iâm such a horrible person and you probably hate me now.â
The difference between these two is the second one makes it about you, and puts pressure on the other person to reassure you instead of sorting through their own feelings.
Apologies should be about acknowledging the other person and how youâve messed up and not done just because youâre afraid someone will leave you.
Try not to be defensive.
Even if you didnât mean to hurt them, what matters is that they were hurt. We often want to defend ourselves because we want the other person to know our intentions but sometimes this can come off as invalidating. The example Iâm going to share below is a way to apologize to someone while still getting to share your intentions because while the apology is about the other person, sometimes we need to do this for our own peace of mind. This way of wording should still allow the other person to feel heard and validated while honouring your feelings.
âI didnât intend to make you feel that way, but I understand that I did, and Iâm sorry.â
Donât make assumptions. Ask questions.
Instead of scrambling to fix everything or smother them with affection, try finding out what they need.
âIs there something I can do to make this right?â
âDo you need some space or want to talk it through more?â
Be patient.
You can apologize perfectly and still need to wait for the other person to feel ready to reconnect. That doesnât mean you failed at your apology. It just means they need time and youâre strong enough to give it to them. And if they cannot forgive you, know that while theyâre allowed to feel that way, it doesnât mean you arenât allowed to forgive yourself.
You deserve to be heard too
Sometimes, we need to apologize for lashing out. And weâve lashed out because weâre upset with the other person. While it isnât okay to lash out, your feelings are valid.
It might be useful to use something like DEAR MAN to talk about an issue you might be having. And while this should be done after the other person is ready and has accepted the apology, it isnât okay for them to keep throwing it in your face to avoid their own part in things.
You should apologize for your actions but you should not apologize for having feelings. Sometimes that can get confused. You might apologize for how you acted when you were upset, but you donât owe an apology for being upset in the first place.

im honestly surprised (not really surprised considering what website this is) that i haven't seen anyone on here talk about Lil Nas X getting violently arrested after suffering some kind of mental health episode. I wish he was getting more attention and support.
Opinion: Mental illness in Black people is criminalized, and Lil Nas X being thrown to the ground and arrested is no laughing matter, Mey Ru
good article explaining what happened and why the response to it, which is mostly people chalking it up to a joke since they never took Lil Nas X seriously as a real person, is so sad to see
tfw im having a mental breakdown but i gotta lock in and mentor my mentor's grandkid from the 30th century but he's annoying asf and 2 yrs old (technically)

This has to got be someoneâs rare pair, there must be one person one earth absolutely popping bottles right now
"Clark and Bruce act like brothers!!!" Yeah the blowjob brothers
According to the CDC, in 10 percent of those drownings, the adult will actually watch the child do it, having no idea it is happening. Drowning does not look like drowningâDr. Pia, in an article in the Coast Guardâs On Scene magazine, described the Instinctive Drowning Response like this:
âExcept in rare circumstances, drowning people are physiologically unable to call out for help. The respiratory system was designed for breathing. Speech is the secondary or overlaid function. Breathing must be fulfilled before speech occurs.
Drowning peopleâs mouths alternately sink below and reappear above the surface of the water. The mouths of drowning people are not above the surface of the water long enough for them to exhale, inhale, and call out for help. When the drowning peopleâs mouths are above the surface, they exhale and inhale quickly as their mouths start to sink below the surface of the water.
Drowning people cannot wave for help. Nature instinctively forces them to extend their arms laterally and press down on the waterâs surface. Pressing down on the surface of the water permits drowning people to leverage their bodies so they can lift their mouths out of the water to breathe.
Throughout the Instinctive Drowning Response, drowning people cannot voluntarily control their arm movements. Physiologically, drowning people who are struggling on the surface of the water cannot stop drowning and perform voluntary movements such as waving for help, moving toward a rescuer, or reaching out for a piece of rescue equipment.
From beginning to end of the Instinctive Drowning Response peopleâs bodies remain upright in the water, with no evidence of a supporting kick. Unless rescued by a trained lifeguard, these drowning people can only struggle on the surface of the water from 20 to 60 seconds before submersion occurs.â
This doesnât mean that a person that is yelling for help and thrashing isnât in real troubleâthey are experiencing aquatic distress. Not always present before the Instinctive Drowning Response, aquatic distress doesnât last longâbut unlike true drowning, these victims can still assist in their own rescue. They can grab lifelines, throw rings, etc.
Look for these other signs of drowning when persons are in the water:
Head low in the water, mouth at water level
Head tilted back with mouth open
Eyes glassy and empty, unable to focus
Eyes closed
Hair over forehead or eyes
Not using legsâvertical
Hyperventilating or gasping
Trying to swim in a particular direction but not making headway
Trying to roll over on the back
Appear to be climbing an invisible ladder
So if a crew member falls overboard and everything looks OKâdonât be too sure. Sometimes the most common indication that someone is drowning is that they donât look like theyâre drowning. They may just look like they are treading water and looking up at the deck. One way to be sure? Ask them, âAre you all right?â If they can answer at allâthey probably are. If they return a blank stare, you may have less than 30 seconds to get to them. And parentsâchildren playing in the water make noise. When they get quiet, you get to them and find out why.

BOOST FOR THE SUMMER. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
Can I just say thank you to OP for putting such a detailed description on this?
Iâve been a lifeguard for 6 years now and of all the saves Iâve done, maybe two or three had people drowning in the stereotypical thrashing style. And even those, like the save I made last weekend, it was exactly like OP describes where the personâs head is going in and out of the water but it isnât long enough to get any air. Mostly you recognize drowning by the look on someoneâs face. If someone looks wide eyed and terrified or confused, chances are theyâre drowning. That look of âoh shitâ is pretty easily recognizable. And even if you canât tell for sure: GO AFTER THEM ANYWAY. Iâve done âsavesâ where a kid was pretending to drown and I mistook it for real drowning, but thatâs preferable to a kid ACTUALLY drowning.
Also please remember that even strong swimmers can drown if they have a medical emergency, get cramps, or get too tired. If your friend knows how to swim but theyâre acting funny get them to land. And even if someone can respond when you ask them if they need help, if they say they do need help? GO HELP THEM.
However . If the victim is a stranger, I canât recommend trying to get them. Lifeguards literally train to escape âattacks,â because people who are drowning can freak the fuck out and grab you and make YOU drown as well. If you do go in after someone, take hold of them from the back and talk to them the whole time. IF YOU ARE GRABBED: duck down into the water as low as you can get. The person is panicking and wonât want to go under water and should release you. Shove up at their hands and push them away from you as you duck under. Donât die trying to save someone else.
Please guys, read and memorize this post. Not all places have lifeguards. Being able to recognize drowning is such an important skill to have and you can save someoneâs life.
Just incase!
In a water park once, I was suddenly grabbed by a child and he dragged me under the water without warning. I was going to get angry with him when I resurfaced because I thought he was being an ass, until I looked at him go back in and out hyperventilating the entire time. I grabbed him under his arms and began trying to drag him out while screaming for the lifeguard.
When the lifeguard got us both out, a woman came running down and accused me of harming him and said he had been completely fine in the water. That there was no reason to drag him out of there. The lifeguard had to explain to her that her son had been drowning, to which her response was to say that she didnât hear him call for help.
People seriously need to learn the signs.
http://spotthedrowningchild.com/Â really demonstrates how easy it is to miss drowningÂ
This has cleared up something that Iâve been unsure about for for 15 years. I can now say with confidence my friend was in fact drowning and not just pulling a prank on me. Iâm sorry for doubting him and just glad that faculty member pulled us out.
Has anyone figured out whatâs so viscerally wrong with this woman yet
Sheâs so one dimensionally evil you guys đđ how is she real
