I like tumblr because itās the only social media platform that isnāt like ālook how great my life is going right now!ā itās literally just shitposting. itās the one website that doesnāt destroy your self esteem. no one has ever read a text post that just said ābungusā and been like āwow they have their whole life together and I wish that could be meā and Iām here for it

#gender exists purely as an affectionate diminutive

My cat, who doesnāt know what a ājendirā is but would like to eat it: meow
Me: Lady! Beautiful lady! Little miss! Little miss lady!
This father consoling his baby son at the doctorās office is SO CUTE ššš
Awwwwwššš
This father is doing SO much more than consoling his infant son ā¦
⢠this father is showing up as a pillar of safety; heās told his son he acknowledges and believes in the boyās strength.
⢠the father is completely present and accepting of his sonās story and helps him tell it. When the son recognizes that his father was fully present and heard the story of his experience of pain, the boy calms completely.
This piece of video will now be at the very top of my teaching tools when training parents and caretakers to work with shock and trauma in infants. Itās one of the finest examples of exemplary parenting I have ever seen in my 35-year healing career. ā¤ļø
This made me laugh and cry. Black fatherhood is so beautiful. The only thing Iāve ever wanted is a family, and I canāt wait for it to be exactly like this ā„ļø
This cat is DETERMINED to nap in his hammock.
i believed in this cat and was not let down
the mother called her babies just for me ;;;
Blessed.

Cody would have been 9 today. I miss him terribly, but Iām not going to focus on his absence, but of the joy we shared together. The same joy we can bring to birds now and into the future.
I would love if we could make November 15th Happy Bird Day in memory of Cody the Lovebird.
Spoil birds of all kinds, be it through hanging up a bird feeder, hooking your companion bird up with extra scritches, snacks, and toys, contributing to conservation, rescue, or sanctuary work; anything positive for birds. Letās make 11/15 every birdās birthday!Ā

āLouis was used to getting up for his morning walk at 10. Schedule changed and morning walk time is now 6am. He was not emotionally prepared for this.ā

company: lets staff through a temp service and wait so long to hire them in they quit out of frustration
the law: You must pay them this and no less.

Todayās gay disaster:
So two firefighters came into my store this morning. Now, we get firefighters in the store once in a while, probably because our complex is perpetually setting off the fire alarm, and every time they show up my whole team fawns over them like theyāre walking sex gods and I donāt really Get It.
But yāall. Two firefighters came into my store this morning, and I Get It. Because that woman was so goddamn attractive, with her dark eyes and her muscles and her strong hands and her charming smile and her casual confidence just lounging around like she owned the place and a;dlfghadfghdfg I have never looked at ANYONE and immediately stopped breathing but yāall it HAPPENED. This woman was so stunningly handsome that I literally cannot tell you what the other female firefighter in the room looked like beyondĀ āI think she was blonde.ā
But you know what, Iām BoH so I didnāt have to talk to the stunningly handsome firefighter, and that was fine. I minded my business and tried (and failed) not to look at her. Until the next guests came in, and I saidĀ āHi, welcome in!ā reflexively like Iām supposed to.
And this firefighter. She looked at me with this cheeky little smirk, and she said,Ā āHey now. You didnāt welcome me in.ā
And instead of saying something coy, or charming, or clever, the words that actually came out of my mouth were:Ā āWell, youāre very attractive, and it threw me off.ā
Yāall she chuckled and she WINKED AT ME. And Iām pretty sure I died on the spot.
She was so charming that I didnāt realize until an hour later that she wasnāt wearing a mask and Iād forgotten to be annoyed about it.
So today I get to work and my boss hands me my paperwork and⦠a lighter. A nondescript blue plastic lighter, which I flip over a couple of times looking for initials and then, not seeing any, I ask, āWhose is this?ā
āItās for you,ā my boss says, with that look on his face like heās trying not to give away the punchline of a joke.
And yāall, itās relatively early in the morning. I havenāt been getting a lot of sleep lately. I havenāt had my coffee yet. So forgive me, because my dumb gay ass asks, āWhat for?ā
Which it turns out is exactly what he wants me to ask, because he says with a big grin, āHeard you wanted to get someoneās attention at the fire department.ā
All day long at regular intervals he points out flammable objects around the store.
I swear my entire team is out to get me.
Out to get you??? I have had some amazing bosses, but Iāve never had one that encouraged me to set fire to my place of business for the purposes of improving my love life.

it's 2022. donald trump has died in disgrace days after being impeached and jailed. my chemical romance's new album is coming out the same day as the new spiderverse movie. the lizzo and janelle monaƩ collab song is blowing up the radio. lil nas x has a verse in it. you and your partner have time and energy for dates after work after jeff bezos' assets have been seized and distributed to the public in the wake of his arrest for keeping employees in unsafe working conditions.
oh what a life

Those dates you go on with your partner? Theyāre in public. Unmasked. Your server smiles at you. Everyone feels safe.
You can hug your friends.
You can see a movie. The people in the movie are gay people of color and they kiss and live happily ever after.
And so will you.

āCorporations supporting things like BLM and Pride is largely performative and shouldnāt be overly praised or focused on. Theyāre just trying to do what they think will earn them moneyā andĀ āCorporations openly showing support for things like BLM and Pride are incredibly importantā and not mutually exclusive ideas.
Corporation support is not the source of social change, itās the visible indication of it. A mall covered in rainbow flags withĀ āpride month sales!ā is nothing that makes LGBT people more accepted, nor do tweets from companies about supporting the BLM protests do anything to stop police violence, but they DO show the shift in public mindset. Corporations donāt take risks. They donāt make bold statements that they feel are unpopular or will lose them money or support. Theyāre a litmus test for when a statement or symbol that has been taboo becomes a commonly held belief.Ā
When a corporation makes these kinds of statements, it means that the people out there fighting every day for these movements are having an effect. Their fight is causing a change in social perception to the point where businesses who carefully choose every single thing they say can post about solidarity with protesters and feel confidant that they are saying something that represents the feelings and beliefs of the majority. A mall being covered in Pride flags is a sign that the country will accept a mall filled with Pride flags. That those working to make social and cultural change are succeeding.Ā
This this this this FUCKING THIS.
āitās not nothing to have moved the needle so far that companies have decided the big money is on the side of pandering to us instead of to the people who hate usā
Thereās a special kind of fuck you in it that saysĀ āwe are willing to lose our racist, homophobic, bigoted customers in favor of welcoming a more diverse one.ā
Nothing could be more horrifying for a rich white person then to find out their money is worthless.
I say this every time these kind of posts come across my dash but it bears repeating: You cant match the quasi-religious experience I had when coming from homophobic/transphobic Venezuela to visit Canada for the first time with my homophobic family. In JUNE. and finding entire malls (even SHOE STORES) hanging pride flags and TD Bank having ads with gay couples and having rainbow ATMs. It shook my entire existence and made me feel like I could have a life if I moved to Canada. It definitely had an impact to me.
