I would play the shit out of this.
Please support this game! I've been following it forever and the developers obviously put a lot of love into finally repping my people as Not Just Generic Bad Guys To Be Slaughtered in QuickTime Events, but the unabashed horse girls we truly are. I really love how outspoken she is about representing proper care and compassion for these animals in the industry too.
Experience the legendary adventures of a brave courier rider! Bond with your horse and tame the open wilds of 13th century Mongolia.
Found it! Reblogging to kickstart when I’m at my laptop.
This looks delightful!
Rereblogging because we’re almost at the Hot Springs stretch goal and I want the Falconers stretch goal!!

New favorite protest poster! Got a lot of compliments today, and was able to steer people towards the original poem, and a similar poem that's one of my favorites. QR Codes:

There was a great turnout at the protest I went to today, cat-corner to the local Trump Store (shudder). No counter-protest except for one asshole trying to pick fights at the very end, at least 75+ people showed up and we all grooved out to protest songs and waved signs and it was great!
Hoping to coordinate with the organizer to have a sign-making event before the next big protest in April. Keep on keeping on!
Delivering for Grubhub (and I assume similar apps) is LITERALLY just IRL fetch-quests.

Sailors wear dockers!
i had a dream that time travel was invented and too many people choose to travel back in time to save the titanic from sinking (the question of whether unsinking of the titanic deserved so much attention in the face of human history was the subject of both heavy academic and online discourse), which caused a rift in the space-time-continuum that led to the titanic showing up indiscriminately all over the world’s oceans and sea in various states of sinking.
this caused a lot of issues both in terms of fixing said space-time-continuum and in terms of nautical navigation, and after a long and heavy battle in the international maritime organization it was decided that the bureaucratic burden of dealing with this was to be upon Ireland, much to their dismay. the Irish Government then released an app for all sailors and seafarers so they could report titanic sightings during their journeys, even though they heavily dissuaded you from reporting them given the paperwork it caused.
anyway i woke up with a clear image of the app in my head and needed to recreate it for all of you:

the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
So you know.
This might be the real one, y’all.
Reblogging to spread the luck and the good fortune
Reblogging in hopes I hear back from the job I interviewed for last month (academic hiring is so slow!) and also to share awareness of the good-luck post!

USA people! Buy NOTHING Feb 28 2025. Not anything. 24 hours. No spending. Buy the day before or after but nothing. NOTHING. February 28 2025. Not gas. Not milk. Not something on a gaming app. Not a penny spent. (Only option in a crisis is local small mom and pop. Nothing. Else.) Promise me. Commit. 1 day. 1 day to scare the shit out of them that they don't get to follow the bullshit executive orders. They don't get to be cowards. If they do, it costs. It costs.
Then, if you can join me for Phase 2. March 7 2025 thtough March 14 2025? No Amazon. None. 1 week. No orders. Not a single item. Not one ebook. Nothing. 1 week. Just 1.
If you live outside the USA boycott US products on February 28 2025 and stand in solidarity with us and also join us for the week of no Amazon.
Are you with me?

When Donald Trump reentered office, one of his first calls to action was to end several DEI initiatives in the federal government.
I don't know if this will have a big impact - will they notice? Will the lost revenue effect them? Everyone is going to keep buying from them, just not on this day. This one time thing - it might not be enough.
But on Reddit I saw someone with the same doubts, and someone else responded that this is JUST THE START.
We don't buy from them for one day. They ignore us.
So we make it two days.
Three.
A week.
More.
We support our local businesses. We learn to be more thrifty, to be more self-sufficient. We shop only at those stores that are supportive of their communities, that are ignoring the bullshit and keeping their DEI policies, like Costco, Apple, Microsoft, and more.
We will have to give up luxuries to make an impact - no Starbucks, no Pepsi, no Amazon, no Target, no McDonalds. Research the companies your money goes to support. Will it be hard? Yes. Fuck yes. It's going to be really difficult.
But we have to do what is difficult to make a point.
So will this one shopping day blackout change anything? Maybe. Maybe not. But it's only the beginning.
And remember: every day this goes on, is one less day those motherfuckers have in power.
Me: I have the big SAD.
Brain: Yes, that's called Major Depressive Disorder. You were diagnosed 20 years ago. It makes you sad.
Me: ...I meant Seasonal Affective Disorder but pop off king...
There are wild things in your heart That bark and bite and sing And we have been told to quiet them Because others do not hear The baying of a wolf Or the song of a whale Or the whisper of a bee Or the whistles of a loon But the cries of the oppressed And they cannot ignore us If they can hear us Do not let them Silence Your Heart
I was listening to a podcast discussing the question of what to do if a library book isn't just objectionable but has dangerously wrong information- in this case, advice to feed your infant raw milk- and they were conflicted about it because they didn't want to pile on the book bans. As someone who is not yet a librarian but has done a bunch of research on how libraries work, here's my advice if any of you have a similar situation:
Libraries get rid of books all the time- it's the only way they can find room for new books- and the first books to go are outdated legal and medical textbooks, where incorrect information could get a person killed or arrested. So if you find dangerously incorrect medical information in a book, please tell a librarian! You don't have to petition for a book ban, just politely bring it to the attention of the reference librarian! If they decide you're right, they'll remove it, and if not, they'll keep it. It doesn't make you a member of Moms for Liberty if you alert them to something they missed when weeding.
(Librarians who see this, feel free to add on if there's more to it!)
I am a librarian, and this is mostly correct!
You can't just 'advocate to ban a book' - each library has (or at least, should have) a policy for Request for Reconsideration. It's a form a patron can fill out, explaining why a book should be removed from the system (or moved from one section to another, such as kids to teen, or teen to adult). This form helps us by bringing books that may need to be weeded/moved to our attention, giving us information about why the book may be objectional/in the wrong spot, and helps us establish a paper trail incase others object to the book being moved/removed and to show to the library board if needed.
Just because you submit a Request for Reconsideration does NOT mean the book will automatically be removed/moved/banned. It just means we will look at it more closely. Medium and large libraries can get a hundred or so new books in a week, sometimes more depending on the season, and we don't have time to read them all. Things slip through the cracks all the time.
If you feel very strongly that a book should be moved/removed due to outdated information, please let us know! You help us do our job and make our collection more informative by doing so.
We had one book, Plague of Corruption: Restoring Faith in the Promise of Science. A patron submitted a SIX PAGE request for reconsideration (the form is only one page), with a full article about how the research in the book had been debunked years before. This person gave us a full article with citations about how the science was wrong. The reconsideration committee looked it over and removed it.
On the other hand, we had a lady give us a few index cards from the kids craft section with a complaint about kids cryptid books, written in purple crayon. It wasn't a proper request so, while it was documented, we didn't do anything with it and those books are still there and available to this day.
