Hey idk who needs this but helpful reminder that "virgin blood" in any witchcraft shit that requires that means "virgin" in the same sense as "virgin hair" means hair that hasn't been dyed or processed in any way, natural in the default sense. So no, "virgin blood" doesn't mean blood from a virgin, just blood that hasn't been used for any other kind of witchy shit earlier.
Whether nor not someone has fucked before is completely irrelevant. Any act of fucking doesn't instantly make someone contaminated or un-magic any of their shit. You're just not supposed to re-use blood for blood magic. That's just not. Just do not. Like that's just weird who does that.
no wait that- no that's not- no.
Unles you've like, poured out ALL OF YOUR BLOOD, used it for a spell, and then somehow SIPHONED THE WHOLE THING BACK IN, that doesn't mean the blood on the inside of you is also used. And even then, if you'd had your sacrifical blood IV'd back into your body-
actually nevermind, I need to draw a graph to illustrate:
I hope this helps.
The blood inside of you is used. Constantly. It's why there is blood there.
If anything, the blood on the outside is unused.
damn they ain't lying, it is like talking to a fucking genie with you people.
So every year, my aquarium does a captive lobster hatchery project (hence all the loblings). The reason weâre doing it is because in the wild, loblings only have a 1 in 25,000 chance of surviving their larval phase. Theyâre plankton as babies and everything eats them. Additionally, as the Gulf of Maine warms, they are having even lower survival rates because the blooms of copepods they feed on as babies are happening earlier in the year, and theyâre missing it.
Obviously, the goal of this experiment is to grow the lobsters until theyâre big enough to settle to the seabed and then release them, because they have a much higher likelihood of surviving to adulthood when theyâre able to hide. Ideally, captive lobster hatcheries can boost the wild population and keep things stable, so we donât have a major crash in a decade or two.
The first year we tried this was pretty bad. We had a lot of eggs, but very few babies. It turned out that the CO2 levels in the building spiked as more guests visited throughout the summer, and that settled into the water and threw off the pH and caused a chemical reaction that prevented a lot of the eggs from hatching. I think we ended up releasing three baby lobsters (which is still better than their wild survival rate but not great).
The second year was a little better. We added a de-gasser to the aquarium and got a ton of larval lobsters, but right as they were settling to the bottom we had a disease outbreak that killed most of them. We ended up releasing four babies at the end of the season.
But this year? Oh boy. We have so many lobsters that we had to release the first round early (usually we wait till September or October so guests can see them). We just released a total of FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE baby lobsters, and we still have over a hundred who havenât settled to the bottom yet. I genuinely donât even have words to explain how cool this is. OVER FIVE HUNDRED. We just added hundreds of lobsters to the wild population that wouldnât have been there otherwise.
Conservation is so fucken sick
Yeah thatâs also something weâre worried about now! Obviously increased CO2 levels in the ocean are well known to cause acidity issues that can literally dissolve some animalâs shells, but this was one of the first times itâs been observed to directly impact lobster hatching rates. Iâm pretty sure my boss is or was writing a paper on it because this could be a big problem in the future if theyâre really this sensitive to CO2.
Hopefully the levels of CO2 out in the ocean wonât get as high as a contained indoor tank in a crowded building would, but itâs certainly something scientists should be aware of going forward and weâre trying to get the word out!

Peer-reviewing @monikoishi's tags because they're banger.
the fact is that while it is true that in âa muppet christmas carolâ kermit and piggyâs charactersâ children are green boy frogs and pink girl pigs, like their parents, in âmuppets take manhattanâ it is made explicitly clear that piggyâs ideal concept of their children is pink frogs and green pigs
this is EXACTLY what iâm saying. Great insight
my farming sim game will have animal butchery as a normalized part of the gameplay loop to act as a lightning rod to draw all the discourse and thinkpieces away from topics that would annoy me more
in my farming sim game that has animal butchery as a normalized part of the gameplay loop, shipped products will be sold on a weekly basis, not a daily one. you get a big windfall once a week and then you budget around that. if you want more money in the interim you have to go sell to the local merchants whatever products they specialize in.
in my farming sim game, getting married to one of the townspeople will have a significant impact on your gameplay. if you marry the rival farmer, their smaller farm will be merged with yours. if you marry the town alchemist/doctor you get a buff to all your alchemy and you wake up from getting knocked out in your own home instead of their clinic. if you marry the priestess she uh, idk she does weather related divine magic for you so you can choose the weather, idk i haven't thought too hard about that one yet
my farming sim game will have a MILF you can actually F
these tags are probably a joke but genuinely i do think that more games with romance candidates in general should require you to at least be on friendly terms with their family/close friends before they will romance/marry you. so yes. romancing the MILF will require attending her kid's pretend tea party first. to prove you mean business

Someone just reblogged my dancing ghosts with â#digital artâ and it doesnât matter at all but Iâm still fighting the urge to dm them âthey are very much not digital! Theyâre chicken wire, tore my jeans, and left me covered in small, bleeding scratches! I got a tetanus shot about it!â
No computers were used for these - partly because I like using my hands and partly because I have genuinely no idea how to do digital animation anyway. It seems like witchcraft.
These are life-sized because I have very little experience with figure drawing/sculpting so I just used my husband and I for proportion measurements. (Which meant I was chasing him around going âcome back! Let me measure your femur!â)

Just because you've talked to someone directly and they seem nice does not mean they aren't a scammer. Scam farms give their "workers" (slaves and victims) personas, stories, and scripts to follow and there is a whole scam system called pig butchering, where a scammer spends time building trust and a relationship with their target to exploit them for more and more money over time. "I talked to them for days/weeks and they were so genuine between the requests for more money, they can't be a scammer," is not a vetting process.
I really think we should've all learned this already from how many popular bloggers were exposed for faking their situations after years of collecting donations and building friendships, only to just completely vanish with the money they were given. Social media has made pig butchering extremely easy because scammers don't even need to build a fake romantic relationship anymore, they just need to become "friends" with their victims and take advantage of their compassion and desire to help (and their unwillingness to question what they're being told).
Pig butchering scams also involve escalating requests, that's why they're called what they are. The scammer is "fattening" you up and preparing you for slaughter by easing you into not only trusting them as an individual but also not questioning them when they ask for money. It's a frog boiling method.
I haven't eaten for a week, can you give me $20 to buy groceries? My mom is very sick, can you send me $50 for medicine? I'm going to get evicted tomorrow, can you give me $300 right now so that I'm not homeless? My daughter is sick, can you send me $1000 for her surgery? You can't afford it? But I NEED it, ask your friends for the money, ask your family for the money, my daughter is going to die and it'll be your fault if you don't send me that money today, I thought you were my friend, I thought you cared about me, how could you abandon me like this?
whyyyyyy
Wasnât this the toy that scared a kid real bad so they ran away screaming only since it follows sound it just chased this poor screaming kid all over the place?
yep thatâs the one
I was raised by scientifically conscientious parents, real big on logic and empiricism and all that jazz, and I really took it to heart. So when I first heard about the birthday candle wishes thing, I did what came naturally. I tried to test it empirically. I invited this kid in my first grade class who was kind of a dick, called me names, tripped me when the teachers werenât looking, penny-ante schoolyard bully shit. And when they brought the cake out, they told me to close my eyes and make a wish, and I did, and when I opened my eyes the kid hadnât exploded. Not even a little. At this point I was kind of tempted to write it off, but even then I had an eye towards the replicability crisis, and I knew one failure wasnât publishable. So next year I invited the same kid, wished again, he didnât explode that year, either. Or the year after that. Or the year after that. I mean I really sacrificed for this project. My parents had a hard capacity of five guests per party, and every year he took a slot that could have gone to a person who wouldnât declare open season on the other three guests. And even though I donât even like pottery, I kept asking to have the parties at the DIY pottery place because that was the only non-suspicious way to have get everyone in smocks and googles when they brought out the cake. But one of the really insidious things I had to deal with was the sense of, I dunno, moral corrosion. Because, you invite a guy you donât even like to a birthday party six years running with ulterior motives, humoring him, making him think you consistently want him aroundâŠÂ youâre leading the guy on! And moreover I know what itâs like to be on the other side of that, I used to get invited to birthday parties because people wanted to copy my notes. And itâs shitty to wake up one morning and realize youâve become a bad guy in the same creeping way, and that just must be how that happens. I mean right up until the guy spontaneously combusted at the cake-cutting at my cousinâs birthday party in 2013, I genuinely think he thought we were friends. All to say that this is why research ethics courses are, like, super foundational. Canât cut corners on that!
The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and theyâre frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.
Iâm sorry but thatâs thinking way too small, hear me out:
We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.
Think about it⊠whoâs the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a momentâs notice?
It ainât Kermit
Miss Piggy tied to the mast while Statler and Waldorf heckle her from the sea
But who is the single human cast member in this tale? Who gets to put in an Oscar-worthy performance alongside the Muppets and what role are they to play?
Thereâs no single human, everyone is a Muppet except for one scene. Circe, played by Janice, turns Odysseusâs crew into humans who still behave animalistic and are all played by Academy Award winning actors.

Things my extremely Italian physics professor has said:
âIf you are walking in the woods nearby Chernobyl, you will probably be fine. But if you pick something up off the ground and eat it, you will die of radiation poisoning. Of course you may die if you eat things from the ground in other places, also, but likely not of radiation.â
âUnfortunately there is nothing I can teach you that will prevent you dying if there is on your house a hydrogen bomb. That is a politician problem. If any of you are president later, please do not hydrogen bomb my house.â
âRadioactivity could perhaps be used by terrorists, but it has not yet. Likely this is because terrorists do not study much physics.â
âWhy is it that physics graduate students cannot make a nuclear bomb? It is not that they do not want to. They simply have not the money to buy the materials. Or anything else.â

the person who helped today when I fell out of my wheelchair actually did a really great job, so I want to share in case other people wonder what to do. [Note: this is not universal, this is merely a suggestion from one person, every wheelchair user's needs are different! I am a person who uses a manual chair usually pushed by someone else who is also disabled.]
Scenario: you see someone in a wheelchair fall out of their chair, and you have the ability to help.
1. Approach and ask "are you okay?"*
2. Next question if they say no, are vague, or open to continuing conversation** is, "is there anything I can do to help?" Or "what can I do?"
If they say no to help, then that's the end, just leave and go do whatever you were doing!
If they ask for help or say they are mildly injured, ask "what would you like me to do?" And wait for an answer before doing anything! If they seem dazed or confused, they might have hit their head or had another medical event*, or they might just be like that due to regular disability. Be patient.
Do not touch the person unless they say to, or they are like, unconcious in the middle of the road, ya know?? Wheelchair users usually have conditions that mean being handled improperly can severely injure us, you could cause much more damage than the fall.
Some things they might need you to do:
Bring their wheelchair closer (mine went about 5 feet away after it dumped me)
engage the brakes of the wheelchair
hold wheelchair steady if it's an unsteady surface (mud, hill, ramp, wet, etc)
offer an arm for them to hold onto to get up (them grabbing you, not you grabbing them) or move another solid item closer for them to use (i.e. a chair) [only do this if you physically have the ability to!]
If the terrain is rough (i.e. a parking lot), they *might* ask you to push their chair to a more stable area once they are back in their chair
nothing
Something else
Do what they ask, NOT what you think would be helpful. If for some reason you have to do something (i.e. you can't stop oncoming traffic and need to get them out) ASAP, tell them what you plan to do
Keep in mind they might also be D/deaf, have a communication disability, be stunned after the fall, have a head injury, not trust other people, etc. Be patient and treat them as a person with autonomy and agency! They might need to just sit on the ground for a few minutes to recover before trying to get back in their chair. They might want everyone to leave them alone. They might ask you to call someone specific. Their chair might have broken and that can be extremely distressing. All of this is like if your legs spontaneously stop working when you're out and about!
A lot of wheelchair users (NOT ALL) have ways to get into their chair on their own once the chair is close enough and brakes engaged (but it's hard from the ground!). Here's what brakes look like on a lot of manual wheelchairs, in case they ask you to lock the brakes. They're levers on each side and pushing the lever pushes a bar against the wheel to hold it still.
ID: A manual wheelchair with the brake levels circled in red and labeled "user brake levers"
*There is also the possibility of course that a person fell out of their chair due to a seizure or other medical event, so that is why it is important to ask if they are okay. If you saw them hit their head, tell them so. If they had a medical event, follow protocol for that, I'm not gonna get into it here (thought I could).
**sometimes a person will be clear after the first question i.e. "I'm all good thanks" clearly means they do not need you to ask another question, you can just leave them alone. Keep walking and don't stare. A lot of the time people will be a bit banged up but be totally fine and able to manage on their own.
TLDR: Ask the wheelchair user if they're okay, then what they need, and then do exactly that, including leaving them alone. Thanks!
an important reply in the tags
[ID: A reply reading, "It's worth noting that unless someone is in immediate danger (on a road, near a chemical spill) there's basically no justification to move a unresponsive person on the ground, basic first aid will tell you that your objective is to stabilize and support until actual trained professionals arrive. Even outside of the context of pre-existing disability and being mishandled, if someone has a brand new neck injury you could seriously, permanently harm them by causing undue stress on the spine. You should always assume an unresponsive person on the ground has internal injuries you can't account for, and unless they're about to get smushed or asphyxiate on vomit leave them where you found them and call an ambulance."
