I think that since its been a year since I made this post its time for an update. In the past year I’ve watched this post grow and grow, people I work with have told me about it as “this post I saw the other day” and they have no idea it’s my post. The person I wrote this about has even reblogged it. He is no longer texting me at 4am. Not because we no longer speak but because the nightmares have stopped. He and I both are in a much better place. Most often the only times he’s waking me up at 4am is when he’s pulling me closer to him while we sleep. He’s more than a friend now and I’m forever thankful to have him. Everyone messaged me saying he was lucky to have me but I think I was just as lucky to have him and I would do it all over.

Interestingly, though The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is narrated by Boris Karloff, the big musical number is sung by the late Thurl Ravenscroft - an American voice actor better known as the voice of Tony the Tiger.

My headcanon is that the Grinch and Tony the Tiger had a bad breakup, and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” is the resulting breakup song.

I want the “ten years later” when Tony visits Whoville on business and meets the reformed Grinch whose heart has grown 3 times its usual size. I want them to reminisce over a shared dinner of roast beast and wine, then spend a drunken night together, then realize that maybe things are different and people really do change. the idea of my partner just laying in bed with me, letting the TV play some atmospheric rain video and cuddling. underneath some blankets, nuzzling closer when you get cold, and falling asleep with them held in your arms. you wake up in the middle of the night, they're still right there and sleeping peacefully. you're a lil uncomfy, arm going numb, but you still lay there. so much warmth, so much home...

next morning, you both get up with messy hair and awful breath. you both make fun of each other for how bad it smells. you get up eventually and make your way to the bathroom. you brush your teeth and take a shower first, and then start your day with brand new clothes. you leave the bathroom, hearing your partner humming down the hallway in the kitchen. you enter to see your partner starting breakfast, their hair somehow messier than when they woke up.

you tell them it's their turn, and they smile, give you a lil peck on the cheek, then go to get ready for the day.

it's warmth, this little home you've created for yourself with them. you both continue throughout the day, perhaps going to work, perhaps going to some shops. you both eventually make it back home and once more, you get ready for bed, you both lay down, and cuddle till you sleep.
