I want to get back into writing so desperately. I miss it so much. I feel like social media (TikTok, Insta, etc) has ruined my creative spark. I want to be on my phone less. I want to draw, dance, read, learn new languages, work out. But I don't know how to start. It's hard, especially since I am a full time student with a job. I feel like when I have down time I either am too tired to do anything or I have to clean. Just know that I'm still here and I'm trying to write.

We have been delaying posting this because we were trying to write more but the motivation was not there. We hope you enjoy it nonetheless! - 1,053 words
Hatori had always been one of your closest friends, even if you weren’t part of the Zodiac. He was kind and sweet, always bringing you your favorite treats when you hung out. Though he had grown more soft-spoken and introverted as he got older, the two of you had stayed close. He was the perfect person to vent to, always there to listen, only offering help or advice if you requested it.
Ever since Kana, though, he had been pulling away, isolating himself. He refused to see anyone but Akito for her checkups. He turned away your requests to visit. It hurt, knowing he was in so much pain. You wished you could help him or, at the very least, be there for him. He had done so much for you but wouldn’t allow you to give back.
After three weeks of being denied visits, you made the executive decision to stop by unannounced. You were holding a basket of sandwiches, veggies, and a few sweets you knew he’d love, when you knocked on his front door. Nothing could have prepared you for what he looked like when he opened the door. You’d heard about his fight with Akito, heard about how he erased Kana’s memories, but you hadn’t expected to see his eye so pale with a fresh prink scar running down his face. You nearly dropped the basket of food you were holding, wanting to reach out and wrap your arms around him. But you couldn’t.
“{Name},” his voice was cracked, dry, his dull eyes flicking over your form.
“Oh, Hatori...” you reached out to touch him, grab his hand or cradle his face, but he stepped back, and you let your hand drop.
“You should come inside. It’s cold,” his tone flat, but he held the door for you as you stepped inside. His living room was a mess, blankets, pillows, dishes, and trash scattered about. Part of your chest ached for him, and the rest burned with rage. How dare Akito tear him down like this?
“You haven’t been answering my calls,” you said gently, setting the basket of food on a small clear space on the table before turning to look at him.
“I’ve been... indisposed,” his excuse was lame, half thought out, as he glanced around the messy room.
You sighed softly. “I brought sandwiches,” you gestured toward the basket. “I’ll help you pick up and then we can eat.”
Hatori simply nodded, sighing as he watched you begin to pick up his mess. He eventually joined in, albeit slowly, picking up trash and bringing dishes to the sink. It took the two of you the better part of an hour to get everything picked up, but once it was done, it made the room look a lot less gloomy. You had even opened the blinds a bit to let some natural light in.
“That’s better,” you said, grabbing the basket of food and setting the table. “I made your favorite,” you set his food on the table, his sandwich wrapped in brown paper, the veggies and sweets in separate little containers. Then you set your own spot and sat down.
Hatori watched as you set out the food, the heaviness in his chest lifting slightly. “Thank you,” he murmured, sitting at his place and unwrapping his sandwich slowly. His skin was pale, you noted, dark bags under his eyes. You wanted to ask a thousand questions, but you kept silent for as long as you could, eating your sandwich and snacks with frequent glances at Hatori.
“I’m fine,” he said suddenly.
Your cheeks burned. “I’ve been so worried; can you blame me?” You said defensively. “All I’ve heard are rumors and when you open the door, your eye...” You sighed, running a hand through your hair.
“I didn’t mean to worry you,” He mumbled, shooting you a guilty look.
“It’s okay,” you said, poking your sandwich. “How’s... how’s it feel?”
“It hurts sometimes,” he admitted, biting into a carrot. “It’s healing, though.”
“That’s good,” you nodded, trying not to stare at his scar. It looked painful, still fresh and shiny. You averted your gaze and took another bite of your sandwich. Hatori didn’t say anything for the rest of lunch, nor when the two of you worked to clean up further, finishing after not too long.
“I’ll see you next week, okay? Same time,” you said, hovering near the door.
“Alright,” Hatori nodded, his gaze stuck on you, a ghost of a smile on his lips. He stared at you for a moment before nodding once. “Bye.”
“Bye.”
And see him next week, you did. Repeating the process, making sandwiches, grabbing sides and dessert. You knocked on the door and Hatori opened it quickly, as though he was waiting for you.
You greeted him with a bright smile, your fuzzy hood nearly obscuring your face. “Hey.”
“Hello,” he said, clearing his throat. He looked more put together, in a nice t-shirt and slacks, rather than a sweatshirt and house pants.
You blinked at him, still smiling, stifling your laugh. “Can I come in?”
Hatori startled and stepped back, nodding. “Yes, sorry. Come in.”
“Thank you,” you stepped inside and noticed a difference immediately. The windows were open and there wasn’t trash or dishes scattered about. You hummed softly.
“It looks nice in here,” you said, turning to face him, the picnic basket still on your arm. Hatori ducked his head, rubbing the back of his neck. His hair was still shaggy.
“Thanks,” he said, a small smile on his face. “Sandwiches again?”
“Yep! I wanted to say consistent,” you said with a slight laugh. Hatori simply looked at you, the expression on his face on you couldn’t quite pinpoint.
“Let’s eat,” he said suddenly, making you jump slightly as he took the basket from your hands and set it on the table. You followed and sat across from him, looking around. You’re pleasantly surprised at how far he seems to have come in only a week. His skin was still pale, and he still seemed tired but at least he was trying.
