You are a legendary blacksmith, sought out for your ability to fix anything. Talking swords, obsidian breastplates, staves made of crystal, daggers forged from dragon scales, you've done it all. The real challenge today is a young hero asking you to fix what they call their 'plot armor'.
After 10 months of dedication, I finally finished! I confess I was hesitant to post it, since I'm not a professional, but I feel I achieved a good result. by TheresaZoe
WOW! It's so pretty! Amazing job!
HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS
My first time operating CCTV cameras I was handed control over what was essentially 50 independently moving eyes that collectively covered an area about the size of a football field and from that experience I now know that
Suddenly having 50 moving eyes can make you disoriented and barfy and the adjustment period sucks ass
It takes both more and less time than youâd think to figure out what the structure as a whole looks like and where those eyes ARE
After you get used to it the entirety of the structure itself and all of the eyes you can see from feels like an extension of your nervous system in a very bizarre way. Like I have dreams now from the perspective of A Building and Iâm not sure how to describe that.
Once you are aware of an unreachable blind spot it nags at you constantly and you can feel it like a hard little lump under your skin you need to poke and scratch at and itâs ardghgguychgghhbhhhbhhh
Unexpected rift among security specialists on this one as 50% of respondents say âYeah I know exactly what you meanâ and the other half drop in just to say âno OP is just a freakâ
Bringing this back because I was on shift at this specific location the other day when one of the older cams got fried and I had to pull out the tower and rummage around in the wiring of my own damn eyeballs and maybe I AM the freak here but I'm disturbed to say it was an *extremely* bizarre and vulnerable feeling
Like being your own neurosurgeon
Also I'm blind in one of my 50ish eyes now and it feels like I lost a tooth in my brain
It only counts as being able to laugh at yourself if you're still laughing about it when other people join in. If you're expecting everyone to swoop in and shower you with corrective adoration and you will explode into a fountain of tears if they don't, that's just sparkling fishing-for-compliments.
Some questions about your perspective:
Does it count if they're the ones who initiate laughing at you, or do you need to play an active role?
Does it matter if you add to it or is simply laughing with them enough?
Does the laugh need to be genuine or just convincing?
No. It only counts if you started it unprompted. If you start crying when other people make fun of you, that is an entirely different situation, and does not classify as "fishing for compliments."
why is âolde vampires in high schoolâ the big thing and not âolde vampires in collegeâ
everyone in college is eccentric. everyone
you wanna wear full on Victorian suit? the girl in pajamas who clearly hasnât slept in three days supports you
everyone is too preoccupied to care as long as youâre polite and follow class etiquette
multiple high school diplomas? eh. same stuff. multiple BAs? Enjoy learning chemistry AND art history! All in detail!
wandering around campus at 3am? thatâs just the lifestyle tm
no matter how old or young you look itâs not really that weird, thereâs sixteen year olds and sixty year olds doing BAs somewhere
big schools are very anonymous so nobodyâs gonna bother to hassle you
consider: vampire PhD students and postdocs, because in addition to all of the above:
been at the same campus for 57 years? seems legit
This child who came to my house tonight is literally the funniest human being on the planet. She complimented me on having both lollipops and mini Three Musketeers available because "a lot of houses these days don't give you a fruit flavor option." She was very solemn about this.

You're right. I SHOULD be able to take the train from Minneapolis to Berlin.
i'm taking an alt through heavensward and i'm imagining my other wols texting her like this
What are you supposed to do when you're the type of bored where you don't want to do anything but there's nothing you can do about it either? It's 4 pm and there's five hours of day left and I don't want to sit through them.
Something you want to have done but don't actually want to do? I used to use this logic to get stuff done when I was severely depressed in college: I didn't want to do *anything*, so I might as well do homework. Tomorrow would look a lot better if I did homework than if I did nothing.
Or sleep.
Oh shit you're right. The dishes.
Ah yeah that fixed it. Loaded the dishwasher, washed up the handful of stuff that doesn't go there, collected the trash and beverage recycling from my sitting region, and did up my meds organiser. Now much happier to do absolutely nothing.
jerking off is gay because youâre the same gender as yourself
Tonight on My Husband Doesnât Know How to Baby Talk
âMaâam, are you aware that these, right here are your hands? They belong to you. And you get to decide what happens with them. So when you use these hands to pull your binky out of your mouth that is not necessarily a dad problem. Iâll fix it obviously i just want you to acknowledge itâs not my faultâ
Husband: maâam it has been reported lately that you do in fact have tiny little toes and a little button nose, do you care to comment?
Penny Rose: Babbles in Baby
Husband: RIVETING!
Penny Rose: Does that High Pitched Baby Yell âąïž
Husband: Let it out friend! Feel your feelings!
Me: Hehehe silly husband doesnât know how to do baby talk
All of tumblr collectively at my husband:
Penny Rose: does a sad baby scream
Husband: you donât even have to understand taxes yet! I can explain them but youâve got several years before thatâs relevant!
Penny Rose: wide eyes, staring at her father, almost intrigued
Husband: I lied to you Penny your mother does our taxes. Do you want to know about arbitration? I know all about arbitration.
THE MAN THE MYTH THE LEGEND
yes he just walks around the house and talks to her like this
Penny Rose: Cooing as twinkle twinkle little star plays
Husband: Now Penny there is a lot of misinformation out there in the world and I hate to tell you this but the moon is in fact not made of cheese. That is a conspiracy theory pushed by Big Dairy.
????
Husband: Holds Penny Rose up to her reflection in the microwave
Husband: you see Penny Rose! This was the M. Night Shyamalan twist! You were mirror baby all along!
FYI this is how you get a Deals Warlock if you were wondering
I have follow up questions:
1) Did you participate in baby talk to make up for your husband's deficit, or did you also opt to speak to the Deals Warlock like a very tiny adult from babyhood?
1a) If you participated in baby talk with Penny, did she ever do any code switching with you while she was learning to talk (I mean, babyish talk back to you but fully formed adult like you share with us to Lawyer Dad)?
I didn't baby talk with her very much either! I think I squealed at her more than my husband did.
Something funny that has happened is that while she formally calls me Mama when she's answering me in passing she does call me "My Darling Love" and I don't know for sure but I think it's because I call her and her father "my loves" and her father calls me and her "darlings" and she's created a mash up đ
So I'll say "okay penny it's time for bed" and I'll just hear "okay my darling love!" đ
Everyone is always so so kind on this post but I do want to warn you all that this did in fact lead to an insanely verbal child, and if you choose that life you have to commit to that life.
Penny Rose is now 5 years old and she
1. Starts talking the moment she opens her eyes to the moment she passes out at night
2. Asks, and I am not exaggerating I counted, an average of 892 questions a day
3. Does not accept "I don't know" as an answer to said questions, will usually have a follow up question as to why you don't know OR a suggestion on how we can find out together
I pay for limitless data and have 709 Google tabs open on my phone at all times
getting lost in boston is fun because I turned around on a street corner three times and some guy yelled "hey stupid! the bus is that way!" very helpful interaction and accurate insult, 10/10 no notes
one time I walked around a building a couple times looking for a bathroom and this guy went "this bitch thinks she's on a merrygoround, where the fuck are you tryna go? bathroom? one floor down to the right behind the door that says bathroom."
My very first time in Boston. I was absolutely miserable, trying to drag my giant suitcase up a lengthy set of stairs in the pouring rain. This guy who had already reached the top looked back at me with the most pure expression of disgust Iâve ever seen in anyoneâs eyes, marched back down the stairs, grabbed my suitcase, carried it to the top, left it there for me, and walked away without ever saying a word. I think about him often.
For the people in the notes going "why is Boston like this": a) the insults are a way to show you have no ulterior motives when helping someone (and don't need to be thanked or repaid), and b) Boston was settled by the Irish
also the Italians. mixing Irish and Italian sociocultural attitudes had the effect of multiplying the Sass Levels by the power of infinity, in the sense that you get all of the clever dry wit of the Irish and all of the bitchy gossipy condensation of the Italians rolled into one very stereotypically overly-friendly American package.
also worth noting that who you are to them doesnât matter. theyâll talk to strangers like that and will also talk to their best friends like that. theyâre just Like That.
More from the notes:
Oh, no, tsundere isn't the right term because we aren't trying to hide anything.
We're not about to leave you stranded but we really do think you're an idiot for getting yourself into the situation.
Dang, it sounds like Bostonites are my people. Maybe I should move.

Holy shit. "The demese ef the Ne'enderthels: Wes lengege a fecter?" published in the Science magazine
short but sweet
Did you have a happy childhood, and can you cut onions without crying?
I had a happy childhood and I can cut onions without crying
I had a happy childhood and I can't cut onions without crying
I didn't have a happy childhood and I can cut onions without crying
I didn't have a happy childhood and I can't cut onions without crying
I emerged from a ditch already fully grown/I've never been trusted with a knife
No nuance, if you had to hesitate at all, the answer is "no".
i am waiting for the context behind this one, because its always the most esoteric thing ever
There's a specific way of pacing your blinking frequency that you can learn to do to prevent tears from welling up if you can anticipate what, when, and how something is going to make you want to cry. I thought the correlation between knowing how to do that, and having an unhappy childhood, would be stronger than that.
