the valar | requested by @existentialposerâ
The Great among these spirits the Elves name the Valar, the Powers of Arda, and Men have often called them gods. The Lords of the Valar are seven; and the Valier, the Queens of the Valar, are seven also. These were their names in the Elvish tongue as it was spoken in Valinor, though they have other names in the speech of the Elves in Middle-earth, and their names among Men are manifold. The names of the Lords in due order are: Manwe, Ulmo, Aule, Orome, Mandos, Lorien, and Tulkas; and the names of the Queens are: Varda, Yavanna, Nienna, Este, Vaire, Vana, and Nessa. Melkor is counted no longer among the Valar, and his name is not spoken upon Earth.

Matters that concerned the other Valar did not often draw Ulmo out of the depths. Though he occasionally visited the Children of IllĂșvatar in a form similar to their own, it was much more common for him to take the shape of a small creature of the sea; that he appeared with legs and a Mannish face on these shores was a subtle show of the desperation he felt. Even to Ulmo, it was ever so tempting to listen to the words that Melkor spoke. He knew well enough, however, that Melkor did not truly mean anything he said - he was just like all of the other Valar in that sense - and up to this point, Ulmo thought that OssĂ« knew this, also.Â
âDo not apologize, my child,â he said, voice as gentle as ever, like the waves that lulled upon the beach on which they stood, though the weariness he felt was also apparent in it. âI would not hold you responsible for the actions of your husband.â
Though the love between his Maiar was, perhaps, the greatest love that their was, Ulmo knew better than to think that anyone could truly control OssĂ«, even his beloved wife. He was as wild as the surf in which he swam. Despite the fact that he was entirely unsure if his words were true, he continued, âI trust completely that you will bring him back to us. I believe you are the only one who can do so.â

So it was that long ago there arose great tumults in the sea that wrought ruin to the lands. But Uinen, at the prayer of AulĂ«, restrained OssĂ« and brought him before Ulmo; and he was pardoned and returned to his allegiance, to which he has remained faithful. For the most part; for the delight in violence has never wholly departed from him, and at times he will rage in his wilfulness without any command from Ulmo his lord. Therefore those who dwell by the sea or go up in ships may love him, but they do not trust him. â J.R.R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion Osse © ALEF Club, Jorney to The Middle-Earth Project

why are there so many posts about asexuals being immune to sirens. people. sirens donât lure you in with sex (necessarily). they sing about whatever it is that you want most. they could sing about mothman or cinnamon toast crunch and guess what then your asexual pirate is fucking dead
this is the only kind of ace discourse i ever want to see on my dash. the only kind. ever again. good job
Do you think the sirens would be grateful that they finally get some variety?Â
âOh my god we can finally just sing about pasta thank the fucking gods.âÂ
Iâm not asexual but Iâm fairly certain sirens would do a far better job luring me into the depths with a song about pasta rather than sexâŠ
I mean.Â
âWHAT THE FUCK STAY AWAY FROM THE ROCKS.â
âFUCKER THEY SAID THEY HAVE FETTUCCINE CARBONARA AND HOT GARLIC BREAD OVER THERE HANG ON BITCH.âÂ
This is true; Odysseus heard them promising him knowledge of the future. Â So the next time you see artwork like this:
Remember those sultry naked chicks are saying âWeâll tell you the winning lotto numbers.â
Them: âWe have unlimited wifi at incredible speeds~â Me: *diving headfirst into the water*
I love this post
Them: hey man if you jump into the water youâll fucking drown Me: iâm all in baby
âAway with you!â I exclaimed, swinging an oar toward the unyielding siren
âOh, but we have anything you could ever want,â she cooed. I shook my head.
âI want for nothing! There is nothing you could offer me!â The siren paused for a moment.
âDank Memes,â she said, âThe Dankest Memes you coââ Her sentence was cut short by my epic cannonball into the water.
Sometimes I just start singing and my mom joins in
WhoaâŠ
#donât trust this #theyâre probably sirens
These two are singing âO magnum mysteriumâ by Tomas Luis De Victoria! Itâs a very pretty piece from the renaissance that has a lot of different voice parts singing totally different melodies that mesh well together. I sung tenor for a song of his as well. It sounds ethereal in cathedrals and bathrooms alike my opinion. Its the roomâs ability to bounce sound and make it resonate, giving it itâs âmermaid sirenâ like quality. It sounds great. Congratulations, you both! Sounds very pretty and seems like a fun time to clean with things like that.
yes its back on my dash
god lol
I always reblog the bathroom sirens <3Â
Welcome to why I sing in stairwells and bathrooms. IT SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER.
