really humiliating trying to write horror like they went into the creepy house and there was a creepy ghost and the creepy guy with a creepy knife and everything was very creepy are you scared yet and thats like literally not how suspense and tension actually work but like all u can do is say well maybe something else was creepy?

I want to have held you in my arms when all those sad memories you describe to me were still fresh wounds. I want my past to have been full of you, and full of meaningful memories with you. I want my past lives to have been spent with you, whether as two lovers, or two housecats cuddling by the fireplace on a snowy day, or two flowers that just happened to bloom on the same day, next to each other. I want to have consumed your existence and intertwined it with my own since my birth, never to be separated from you for a moment. I want to have loved you throughout it all, for all time.

the Unwitness Protection Program is so insane, actually, because yes, it’s about plagues and strigas and arcane rituals that make the dead come back, but once you remove the supernatural elements, the verismo of their situation really hits you. You are fifteen, and your father forces you into a car so he can scream at you as he takes you deep into the back country late at night. You’re sixteen, and your aging grandmother refuses to accept that something is wrong with her sense of reality. You’re sixteen, and you have to pretend you still know what’s real as your father cheerfully tries to solve problems you aged out of three years ago.
