I went to a poor school and they did this. Everyone I know who went to a poor school did this. But the people I know who went to an upper middle class or higher school didn’t experience this

I remember, back when I was getting ready to graduate from high school, I got a call from a military recruiter. How did the call start out? Nothing about how this was the military trying to get me to enlist. No. Instead it was “Hi, I’m <name>, and I’d like to help you pay for college”. More or less everybody in my graduating class got that same call.

I finished but couldn’t find work

I’m escaping my zero-prospects rust belt hometown

Part of my own reason: i didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life and I couldn’t afford to spend money to figure it out. (I’m still glad I never went but that’s besides the point)

Recruiting definitely targets, among others, poor people.

This is honestly probably why some republicans are afraid of free public education. Once people are allowed to go to college without lifelong financial consequences, their recruitment pool shrinks significantly. Once people have another route to accomplish their goals they cant be manipulated into joining a program they never wanted to in the first place.

I’ve found myself wondering “Where are the trans people of color?” a million times.

In my life, I’m often the only person of color in a room of trans people. I’ve noticed it is harder to find pictures and reviews of products (like packers) in the non-white skin tones. I see fewer pictures of POC post-surgery, and fewer people of color documenting their changes on HRT. Selfies of trans people, binary or non-binary, tend to skew towards the white and AFAB side. Hopefully, this blog can provide a sense of community and inclusion for all trans people of color. 

This blog is a place where we can answer that question. Where are the trans people of color? We’re right here! We’re talking about how our day went, about our families, about coming out, about our pets, about our transitions, about our ups and downs. We are here. We exist. This is a new blog for TPOC (trans people of color) to submit selfies of themselves! Anyone and everyone is allowed to follow us, all support is welcome, but only TPOC can send selfies.

reminder: liking a trans woman doesn’t make a man gay. kissing a trans woman doesn’t make a man gay. falling in love with a trans woman doesn’t make a man gay. having sex with a trans woman doesn’t make a man gay. even having sex with many trans women, or only trans women, doesn’t make a man gay. there is no conceivable sex act a man could engage in with a trans woman, no matter what her genital status, that would make him gay, or even bi.
