Any Catholics or Christians (specifically Catholics, however any Christian answers are welcome) who don't believe that homosexual acts are a sin? Why and what are your interpretations of the texts and verses that say it is? I myself am not Catholic or Christian, but I am writing a character that is, and I am aware that some believe it is not a sin. I want to go more in depth about their thought process and understand it better.
Hi! I'm not sure if my answer will be helpful because I can't think of any specific verses and I'm not that good at getting ideas across, but I am Catholic and don't believe being lgbtq is a sin :)
I personally I don't believe it's a sin because it's been emphasized many times in the Bible, in church, and to me from religious people that I trust to tell the word of God that God loves everyone, and that everyone has a place in heaven, as long as you don't hurt people on purpose.
I also believe that the teachings of God are quite a lot about forgiveness of others and yourself and being happy, and if that means your a guy and like guys, or we're born in the wrong body and truly believe you are not the gender you were born as, or any other examples than that falls under the 'being happy and loving yourself and others' part of the teachings.
The only verse I can think of that would be against being lgbtq is the one about laying with another man or whatever the quote is, and I personally see that as being more about not cheating than not being lgbtq.
This might be not helpful but part of my Catholic beliefs and upbringing is that God made you as you. And your,, well being You, is God's plan and is meant to be, and if that means you were meant to transition, or not, meant to love the same gender, both, all, or none, that that is God's plan and I have no real say in His plan for you.
