so after the bear incident I have been taking my feeder in after dark. I was gonna take it down for the season but my chickadees were sooo sad that I gave in.

The other night I went out at 9PM to take the feeder down. Since my porch is about 3 feet across I just left my door open. Because it would take me five seconds. However in that five seconds I scared an Eastern Phoebe that was roosting on my porch and heard it fly away 😥

Take the feeder inside. Close the door. Think to myself. Hmm. I sure hope that bird flew Out of the porch and not Into my apartment. But it probably wouldn't do that right

Blackwater Dive

2024, hand bleached and dyed denim, cotton batting and thread

inspired by blackwater photography of plankton! this was my first time layering bleach painting. All the silhouettes were painted with bleaching gel, loosely tie dyed, and then bleached again to make the highlights. I quilted the piece using my free motion foot to outline each individual animal and tacked down the rest of the quilt with small satin stitches that remind me of marine snow. I dyed bias tape to match. super happy with this one and excited to show it in a gallery setting soon!
