when people say "no hockey team is moral!" and people go "yeah X player is following kai trump!!" i am just once again reaffirmed in my belief that none of you are serious people. that is not at all what we mean when we say that. the political beliefs of private citizens, no matter how much you disagree with them, are not an indicator of a team's morals, just like how a player being "woke" (or whatever counts as woke for a hockey player) isn't either.
we saw a lot of this with curl in the pwhl and probably will see this again if/when hart gets traded off vegas. the point is that no team/the league as a whole is willing to take a stand against abuse/bigotry!! TWELVE TEAMS were trying to sign hart!! in a similar vein, the "problematic" player leaving doesnt absolve a team of its sins or whatever people like to pretend. for an example most people will recognize: alex wennberg used to be a florida panther. matthew and brady tkachuk are currently florida panthers. the political beliefs of these players HAVE NO BEARING ON THE "TEAM MORALITY"
what people mean when they say "no hockey team is moral" is that every team in the nhl has been implicated in (and covered up) some high-level scandal, whether that be assault, abuse, sexual violence, etc regarding players, coaches, or staff. the nhl AS A WHOLE has allowed players to keep playing that have been accused or convicted of basically every crime from tax evasion to hiring a murderer to raping a minor.
trying to frame discussions as "oh X team is more moral, you have to root for us" or "Y fanbase is all horrible because the team has this player" just shows that you dont truly care about the people being hurt! dodging the actual implications to use information for fanwars is so idiotic i cant even describe it! anyway im basically done ranting now because im trying to not be a bitch but please read and actually understand this information.
