In celebration of the winter solstice, Sgrean and Msian Chinese make and eat tangyuan! Jiaozi is also eaten in north China while tangyuan is more common in the south (most of the Chinese in SEA came from south China, hence tangyuan but my fam is from central and eats both lol)
Interestingly, my mom says dongzhi might be a bigger deal in sg than in present day china (or at least the area she grew up in) She's met more people who celebrate it/celebrated it more herself here than she ever did in Wuhan

Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy

Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016). There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.

okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back
“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.

So, fun fact- the manga Noragami has an arc where the main character, Yato (a minor kami/God that is down on his luck but trying to make it big time) goes to a council/conference for all the Gods in Japan.
And they are announcing the winner of the “up and coming god” award, and of course, Yato thinks it’s him.

Just to update… yes, there is a Gotama (“Fifth Tama”) now, introduced in January of this year.
Wakayama Electric Railway’s tradition of feline stationmasters has a new face: Gotama, who joined the team as stationmaster in January 2025.
Nitama and Yontama are still alive and still working. Gotama is Nitama’s second assistant.
Also, there’s not enough pictures of Sun-Tama-Tama in this thread, so have this one:
Sadly, Nitama died last December, so today Yontama stepped up as full stationmaster. Rokutama (“Sixth Tama”) was also introduced as a new trainee.

They asked for Ireland and his dog, Setanta (an Irish Wolfhound) 🐕 based on their ask blog @ask-hws-eire (go check it out if you like Ireland or like ask blogs)! Other random stuff that I wanna yap about, Irish Wolfhounds are so big??? Genuinely when I googled them for reference I was so surprised like waaaaa that's such a big dog????? It's so cool though, and for now it's the most scruffiest dog I've tried to render haha Also very pleased with myself with the background and horse as well ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و !! Part of me couldn't help but add the horse because I wanted to draw a horse lol, kid horse girl me is very happy.
