If youāre familiar with the tropes common among writing asian and arab women in media, youāll be familiar with how hypersexualized many of these characters are and how thereās a distinct fetishized manner that theyāre portrayed.

And I think what makes it especially egregious in Talia's case is that their relationship was originally very much NOT this. Talia was never presented as having a Dragon Lady personality.
Originally she was a rather soft personality - a pacifist, according to her creator Denny O'Neil, who was unable to fully express her pacifism due to her loyalty to Ra's al Ghul. She ultimately just yearned for peace, freedom and love. And Damian's conception, back before he had a name, was originally not a retconned in footnote, it was actually a story where she was the legitimate real time romantic interest of Batman and she made an unselfish choice to give her son up for his sake and for his father's sake, rather than having conceived him in secret because Ra's needed an heir or whatever.
Point being - all of that was retconned into her, which makes it even worse than if she were just created as a stereotype because not only was it a very uncomfortable use of asian tropes, it was using them at the expense of a character who had previously defied those stereotypes.
And notice now her existence is confined very much to that role - she spent 35 years as a present and onscreen love interest, but since that storyline she's been written as a romance from his youth that ended ages ago ("It's been a long time since Beloved," he said to her even though they'd only ended their romance a couple of REAL WORLD years earlier, and that's been the story ever since), and ultimately wasn't that important aside from providing Damian and being the motivation for her turning evil. Also the conception was retconned from being a natural result of their romance to being, as the trope says, a decision she made for a "strange and twisted" reason - she's not even allowed to conceive and birth him naturally now, he had to be gestated in a chamber and altered to become a genetically perfect child that she wanted to continue to al ghul legacy, which... I mean isn't something she ever cared about before but the point is...
Talia was never a dragon lady or an asian babymama trope, and that story retconned her into both, chopped off the parts of her character that didn't conform to those tropes (which was basically ALL of her character aside from her design) and trapped her in that stereotype for, as of now, 15 years and counting.

The Zuko cult of personality is REAL, you either dont know about it or you are against it cuz ts is getting out of hand.
Yeah, that's exactly it. It is centering the perpetrator's own personal feelings about it "deep down their heart", rather than their concrete intentions, actions and their consequences. Zuko was abused into participating, but it does not change the cold fact of it that he was participating.
Zuko's intentions to capture Aang is explicitly not a personal one nor about Aang as an individual. It is true that Zuko himself likely does not feel "genocidal" about it per say in terms of ideology, but that is actually exactly it. He is participating within a genocidal project that exists outside of himself as an individual, which is often how genocides operate. We have the context, and it is unambiguously a genocide taking place and going so far as to kill everyone except one.
The fact that Aang was the only one left, so Zuko was "only" trying to reduce them by one individual, is just proving that it's literally by definition a genocide he was contributing to, one enacted with the very intent Zuko was trying to complete.
When Zuko is delegated to capture the last airbender it is unambiguously and specifically about completing his ancestor's genocidal project of ending the air nation to prevent the next airbender from coming into power. No matter what he "feels" or "why".
I love how Zuko fans(not all of them but it certainly is enough of them) look at Azula having violent outbursts because of her hallucinations, look at Zuko's responses to them, and go "he has every right to act like that towards her! She was attacking him and his friends!" Good lord, do you people just not understand what hallucinations does to a person? You literally cannot tell what's real and what isn't. And as we can clearly see throughout that comic, Azula's hallucinations are telling her that quite literally everyone around her is out to get her, including her mother. So it's no real wonder why she was lashing out like that. Zuko and the others responses towards her did not help in this regard, nor where they right for that.
Now, I want to paint a different scenario here. What if, instead of Azula being the one with a mental health issue, it was Zuko? Zuko's having hallucinations about people trying to kill him, seeing things that aren't really there...and then imagine the Gaang and Azula responding to it like the way how they responded to her in The Search. I wonder what tune y'all would be singing then? Interesting to think about.

Nope, it's as simple as "half of them haven't rewatched the show in years" and the other half just have stan-mind of "I like this character therefore they're good, I don't like that character therefore they're bad."
They're attached to Iroh and Zuko, so they don't even notice that Zuko played as big a role as Azula in supporting war, genocide and imperialism, and that Iroh's actions were worse than both of them combined on the simple basis of "he had more time to be awful." They're not attached to Azula, so they don't notice she has quite a bit of tragedy to her character, just like them.
Also Azula and Zuko are a clear case of "same writting, different font" so it always amuses and perplexes me to see how bizarre the discourse around them is.
I'm just going to say it - body hair (and beauty standards in general) is truly one of the final frontiers of women's issues in the West. Too many women just love their gilded cage too much. It shocks me how virulently women will defend it. I barely open my mouth and the "well I like how it feels. it just makes me feel cleaner. sensory issues. I do it for me. feminism is about choosing (to conform)." brigade come rushing in by the dozens.
Well I don't like how it feels. I don't feel cleaner without body hair. I don't prefer not having body hair. But who will advocate for women like me, but me? For women who do like hair removal, they are advocated for every time they step out of the house and see 99% of the female population also conforming to that standard, or when they watch a movie and see all the shaved actresses, or view an advertisment, or open a magazine, or watch a music video, or scroll through social media, or walk down the streets without receiving insults and glares for having a completely normal bodily feature.
