Hi guys im new here
sloppy
This isn't Vecna's view of our world. It's Tharzidun's. I believe this is a primordial realm discussed by Ode to Icarus in their pelorgate, and that this is the space between dimensions that dark God has been watching us through since the beginning of the story.
Firstly, look at the colors here. It looks to be a void with oil-spill like patterns that shift color in a gradient. It starts as red on the left, to gray in the center, and lastly, blue to the right. This is clear visual imagery for the UD and our world. The red lightning to the left makes it clear that the UD is represented by the red half. As for the blue, Earth his known as the 'Blue Planet' for our liquid water oceans.
But all that is just at the surface of this one image. If you understand STs visual aethetic, anything black, vascular, or slimey can be assiosiated with the UD, so it's clear that these oil spill patterns across the image represent the UD/MF influence. Therfore, this pattern appearing across the color gradient is visual imagery for that influence extending into our world, beyond just the upside down. The gray in the center of the gradient where the black pattern becomes dencer is like the border between our world and the UD, where the opposite colored energies of each realm are neutral. (This could mirror the black void in els mind, which in some shots its comparative color washes. Though I doubt this since the space between world's we see when Henry is pushed out of ours is much brighter and colorful).
So then, what about those pockets of light?
This excellent post dives imto that: https://www.reddit.com/r/StrangerThings/comments/u2grhk/stranger_things_4_trailer_easter_egg_villain_name/
This is actually part of an old s4 ARG & Easter egg hunt. Four of the light pockets are paired with a timestamps for moments in the trailer this image was found in.
From left to right:
1:46
2:30
:33
:52
The post explains that overlaying the image with these timestamps circles words and letters that spell out the phrase, "HI I AM HELL MASTER." The post explains that this could be the name of our villain, hellmaster. Now, of course, we know that this was One/Henry, but the hint still aligns considering his theming as a demonic wizard and Master of Puppets, which is a reference to a song by Metalica, a metal band that loved to imbue their songs with satanic themes.
My proposition, is that this isn't Vecna. At least, not him only.
For the venca theory to work, we would have to consider the image itself and how it reveals information to us. And look as well to the narrative structure of stranger things season four in relation to its wider plot.
Firstly, what does this image show us exactly? I explained it's visual organization and symbolism, but not exactly what we're supposed to think we're seeing in this image. It could just be the clouds that were there a moment before, as this image appeared in the split-second lighting flashes in the trailer as we follow flying demo-bats. But that would not explain the pockets of light nor the oil spill pattern seen in across it that do not match up with how the clouds are in the UD. This oil spill pattern isn't seen anywhere else. This visual is a separate place with ties to the UD in some way.
This would explain why we see the pockets of light that tell a message and why this image is visually represents both the UD and our world instead of just being the sky of the UD. This of course, could just be a well designed through-away visual that is not its own location. But I dont believe that. They went out of their way to show it to us and align it with the metanarrative through an ARG, so I would take this visual into consideration as a part of a larger, cross-season ARG presented meta-narrative.
So again, what does it show us? More precisely, where? And how does it tell us whether this image is actually tied to Vecna/Henry?
From this unknown place in the visual, we see multiple points in time across s4. One shot is from episode one. Another from four. Some corresponding light points are in the UDs half of the image. Other light sre in the center (border). And another in our half, Earth's. Yet all moments are from our plane, Earth. The perspective does not make much sense for out known figures.
This being, with these moments, is telling us, "I AM HELL MASTER". Reminder that these moments are from *multiple* points in time. And this being is doing this from one place as all these moments are shown to us within the light pockets of this static image.
To summarize, this entity is in one place, can see through one perspective, and can also see multiple points in time while seeing both our home if Earth and the UD.
Does this sound like a power of Vecna's? No. He never shows omniscience. He has heightened awareness through the MF hivemind that gave him his powers, can be in places he's physically not, and see into minds, but he can't see different points of time at once nor from tgis briad of a vantsge point during s4. He possesses the ability to see with one perspective as a human, but not across time. If he could, he would have gloated so. And he would have definitely won with such a power.
So it actually can't be vecna. Which circles back to the question: is this a throw-away visual? If we believe that no - it isn't - we run into not a meta narrative contradiction, but a narrative one. Season 4 is the season where Vecna is revealed to be the master of the upside down. This trailer aligns with the purpose of season 4 as the one that establishes who our big bad actually is and sets the stage for a more human vs human cnflict for the rest of the story. Removing Henry as the figure this image hints toward contradicts the narrative of season 4.
Though, there is one thing...
My interpretation of this visual doesn't contradict the narrative PAST season 4. And certainly doesn’t outside of the show itself when we take into account its metanarrative.
My interpretation of the image contradicts the narrative when it is taken as serving s4 alone. But when seen as serving the broader narrative, it aligns. Because we know from s5 and The First Shadow play that Henry might not be in complete control of himself. The MF called to him from the other world and slowly corrupted him. He may claim that he shaped it, but the psychopathic Henry we see in s4 is drastically different from the softer Henry seen in TFS. The title of 'Master' doesn't rest with Vecna/Henry alone.
With this context, we can look back on the narrative of s4 and this image in a different light that aligns with my interpretation of this entity as not Henry.
So, who is this Master?
If you've been following the stranger things theory community from playgate to conformitygate and now, you might be able to tell where I'm going.
I believe the perspective we're seeing from in this image is Tharzidun's, a dark God imprisoned in a lost, decrepit world. Otherwise known as our mandflayer, or at least the darker power behind it. Tharzidun lines up with both the mindflayer and a potential third UD force we haven't explicitly seen yet besides in implications within the metanarrative.
So now, imagine a dark primordial God trapped within a lost realm that can see but never touch the whole of things. In its eyes, many points in time and space are one moment, one image. Yet the only way for its rotten influence to touch any of these scenes from where it is locked away is to use creatures like demogorgans and vessels like Henry.
The god within Dnd's lore that connects most to such a being as the ST community has theorized is Tharzidun, a God of filth that hates our world and wants to spread and assimilate all things into itself, which perfectly matches the hivemind ecology of the UD. Whether he is a third entity that can see both the Upside-down and Earth from a third perspective, or the Mindflayer with the same level of omniscience achieves the purpose of explaining this image's perspective.
Depending on which entity it is, my question of where this is can be asnwered.
If it's the mindflayer, then we are within its mind, seeing how it sees the world. Yet if that is the case, how was it possible for MF to lose its battle with our party of heroes? With omniscience, it shouldn't be possible for it to lose.
This leaves two answers that resolve this contradiction:
1. This whole theory is invalid, or 2. That conformitygate is real and the whole final battle was an illusion as hinted by the meta-narrative.
If tharzidun =/= MF, and is a third entity in an unknown realm, then this would resolve the contradictions my interpretation would spell for the final battle without necessarily invalidating the idea that is is an illusion. It could just be that Tharzidun is an outside observer of the shows plot. Which then again asks the question of what and where exactly this visual is. If it's not within the Mindflayers mind, then where is it?
We'd have to supply that from somewhere else. For this next part, we have to turn the speculations of the brilliant Ode.to.Icarus and their ST-DnD cosmology & Pelorgate theories.
I believe this visual is the Astral sea of phlogiston, a primordial realm between worlds made of a highly flammable ethereal matter. This realm is inhabited by strange, otherworldly entities that pray on its travelers. Many lost gods are trapped in this realm or naturally residing here. And in the deepest parts of the ethereal plane, which the Astral sea is a part of, Tharzidun is sealed.
If we imagine that this is Tharzidun's view of the UD and Earth from the bottom of the Astral sea, then that explains every aspect of this visual. The omniscient perspective, the message, the imagery, and the separation from both the earth and upside down—everything.
And it could go a long way to explain how the mindflayer and dimension x came into being. The Mindflayers could be seen as an extension or some sort of dark vassal of Tharzidun. And explain Dimension X as a world that Tharzidun terraformed through it.
If Tharzidun could manage to reach into the physical realm somehow, it could imbue its power into a vessel that would then spread the God's filth and conqure that world. Otherwise, the MF would be an organism that magically spawned interdeminsional psychic properties far beyond what should be possible in our physical plane considering that Dimension X should be in the same universe as ours – as it is its own planet – and I doubt that organic psychic powers are enough to tear a rift between the space times of not one but TWO SEPARATE UNIVERSES.
No. I believe the influence of something truly dark yet divine is at play. How does this tie into lovewinsgate and rainbowgate? I'm on that as we speak.
Steve wearing Billy's leather jacket again this season is everything! 😭❤️
I've had this question rattling around in my brain for almost seven fucking years now, and I'd like to know if anyone has an explanation.
In season three, why did Billy see an alternate version of himself (and all of the other people the mind flayer would infect) when he got possessed?
My best guess is that it ties back to the "undead army" theory from season two; like maybe the versions of all the people Vecna killed would attack him in his mind. (Like how Chrissy, Fred, and Patrick were technically in his mind when he was going after Max?)
And I've ranted about it before, but the most logical way for the Kas Theory to play out would have been for Eddie to be trapped in Vecna's mind with Max. Especially now with the information that dead demogorgans can be brought back to life as long as you can activate the mind flayer - which is such a crazy bit of information to drop in the last leg of your story and then not do anything with btw!
Idk, I'm kind of convinced that the undead army and the Kas theory were supposed to meet halfway, and be the big thing that helped them take down Vecna from the inside; but they didn't like how so many people guessed that so they changed it.
Does anyone else have a theory as to why that happened? Because it just seems so weird in comparison to what we saw when Will was possessed and the monsters took other people. I'd love to hear someone else's take on this, because it's bugging me that it was never brought up again and I feel like I don't ever see people talking about it.
Steve: That thing you saw at the junkyard isn’t even the worst thing. See, last year…
Billy (mentally undressing him after seeing him swing that bat around) blah blah blah… proper name, place name, backstory stuff.
billy should have an insane coping mechanism where he maintains a long-running extremely detailed daydream where steve is his boyfriend.
every time his life gets shitty he imagines a new detail for this scenario- they're going to run away together to california as soon as billy turns 18, for example. when they dropped dustin and max off at that middle school dance, steve kissed him for the first time. sometimes it's astoundingly boring stuff. he's imagined tutoring steve for their english class like, fifty times.
also every time hes mean to steve he imagines it's part of an elaborate ploy to hide their relationship that they're both in on, instead of just him being a dick. also steve thinks its sexy. so there, weird guilty feeling in the pit of his stomach, its FINE.
Steve never knew much when it came to family. It's been just him, just Steve, for the longest time; before that an ever revolving door of nannies and maids. He doesn't know much...
Why does he yearn for it though. You shouldn't miss what you don't know. How can you long for a sunny day when all you've know is cloudy days and pouring showers.
Maybe it's the chatter his classmates make during the day to pass the long hours. Always complaining on how embarrassing their parents are; making them do chores, denying sleepover for family night, endless small talk during dinner about their grades. It seems so frivolous to them, like a annoying gnat they can't swat away.
Why does it feel like a glimpse of sunlight peaking through clouds before cruelly being ripped away. He's never been able to bask in its warmth.
Everyone says he's lucky....
He doesn't feel that way.
__
Billy misses his mother, he misses her like a gaping wound that just won't heal. Her love feels like a phantom limb.
Billy feels empty without her.
His father... is his father.
He has more bad days than good now.
It's always been hard, but now it's unbearable. It's like he's stuck in the middle of a hurricane; nothing but sharp air that cuts his cheek, and dirty water that burns his skin. Sometimes he's in the eye of the storm; he gets a pat in the head and change for the arcade, Neil gets a warm look in his eye, it's like he actually loves Billy.
But the storm moves too quickly now...
He's thrown to the outskirts before he even has a chance to breathe.
It's getting harder and harder to stay afloat .
It has been ever since she's left.
He hopes that their is still sunshine left when he is found.
This byler shit is starting to feel EXACTLY like jayvik last year
Now everyone loves it and is getting crazy with the theories and dying for it to happen, but regardless if it's canonized or not, within a month after the show is over everyone is gonna turn against it because "it's a mid ship between two boring white guys" and call you a misogynist and male centered for liking it in the first place instead of the straight option. Watch.
They're gonna say mileven was the better woker option all along because eleven is autistic coded and if you dislike it you're ableist, just like meljay was the better woker option all along for being interracial and you're racist for disliking it, even though they're fucking miserable together and the girls are clearly much better off without a man. WATCH.

hey so what the actual fuck is wrong with some of you people
imagine seeing someone call us worthless to the extent that we're not even worth raping and thinking that's a privilege. imagine seeing us so thoroughly dehumanized that we are seen as nothing but a tragic waste of flesh and getting mad when we point out that it's kinda fucked up the way we're talked about. imagine getting mad that not every single one of our breaths goes to outrage on your behalf. God forbid we spare a word for ourselves.
the fact that people are turning this into a "trans male privilege" thing is so annoying and expected.
first of all, these people still want to rape trans men. they just want to restrict their transitions. it's not a privilege to have your transition fetishized by your rapist, and it's also not a privilege for your rapist to be disgusted by it; just as it is not a privilege for your birth sex to be fetishized, nor is it a privilege for it to be seen as disgusting. i have seen this exact tone used to paint trans women as universally undesirable from a pussy-attracted perspective, and that was equally as transmisogynistic as this more penis-attracted point of view. maybe this Robert Trivers personally has raped and/or trafficked more trans women than trans men, or would rather rape and/or traffic trans women over trans men, but this does not erase the horrifically high statistics of sexual crimes committed against trans men.
secondly, this man was writing from his experience of when he saw trans men in these situations. again, they're still getting trafficked and raped and abused and going into sex work whether they want to or not, they're just seen as the ugly ones if they ever get to transition. if you're trapped a trafficking ring, if you're resorting to unwanted sex work out of desperation, if you're being sexually abused or assaulted or harassed in any way by anyone; you do not want your transition to be a problem. it does not ever go well. especially if your vulnerability was primarily caused by being trans and attempting to transition in the first place.
and do the trans boys and men counted as cis girls and women not matter because then we need to center women, but also the ones counted as trans men don't count either because there's also trans women and those are women that need to be centered too? because that's a lot of trans men's points being divvied up between women.
also, the entire world does not revolve around just what this Robert guy does, or even what Epstein and all his buddies do for that matter. the "worst of both worlds" narrative, while often used against trans women as well to compare them to cis men and women, is very commonly used against trans men; both to compare them to cis people, but also to put them down as "lesser" than trans women. i've also seen many instances of people calling trans women the "best of both worlds" in order to prove support of the trans community, and their reasoning always implies- or even states- that there is no room for trans men to be anything but the absolute most unfortunate collection of traits humanity could come up with. the fact that nonbinary people are clearly the ones best described as being the "best of both worlds" aside, this is quite a harmful way for so many people to feel about trans men.
the idea that they're worsening the state of their inferior sex by covering it with the inferior gender, that they are doomed to both social and sexual inadequacy, does impact every trans man at some point or another. "[trans women's transitioning rate] is 4 times more frequent than [trans men]; [trans men] are unhappy and lonely-" yeah well this is why. this is the reason, and he even says so. they don't cease to exist when this happens, they're seen as just another cis woman prostitute.
these replies are very ignorant of the reality of sexual abuse against trans men, as well as transmisandry in general. it honestly should be shocking that this email did not immediately remind everyone of corrective rape and partners (or in this case, traffickers) refusing to allow transition, or even of random creeps making comments that someone shouldn't transition because it would be a waist of a perfectly fuckable and pure body, or of parents and politicians fixation with the ruining of their beautiful breedable pre-transition bodies; all of which are very prevalent forms of transmisandry that have a preoccupation with the idea that transmasculine transition is the irreversible damage of sexual commodities. again, this is not made fun if you are forced into sex work due to transphobia/general lack of support or if you are being sexually abused/trafficked by someone who is disgusted with your transition. it's made scary and humiliating and you may very well be forced to put off, reverse, or entirely give up on your transition.
additionally, those replies are also ignoring the multifaceted nature of transmisogyny (and transphobia in general). like i alluded to previously, not everyone has the exact same sexuality. the man who wrote this email may find trans women to be some of the most beautiful and sexually attractive people on earth, but a classic branch of transmisogyny frames trans women as the least attractive people ever- as the worst of both worlds. and while Robert may consider pussies to be too confusing to bother with, often useless, and an acquired taste; this is not how many very violent transmisogynist feel. (need i remind everyone how most transphobic straight cis men speak of trans women? i'd rather not repeat those statement.) in fact, it's quite common for a certain type of transphobic straight cis man to rape trans men and commit non-sexual acts of violence against trans women on the basis of both groups' pre/non-op genitals. oh but i forgot, in those cases, it's actually a privilege that trans men are sexually attractive [sarcasm]! ya know, because being seen as sexually unattractive can so clearly endanger people while also devaluing their lives.
if it's transphobia to call trans women inherently gross and insufficient, it's also transphobia to call trans men inherently gross and insufficient. if it's fucked up to imply that trans women are privileged and protected from rape because of the people that are outspokenly unattracted to them, it's also fucked up to imply that trans men are privileged and protected from rape because of the people that are outspokenly unattracted to them. because it is transphobic to fetishize the genitals of trans men, i know it's also transphobic to fetishize the genitals of trans women. because it is fucked up when trans men are sexually abused, i also know it's fucked up when trans women are sexually abused. transphobes consist of many more than one person, that's why there's multiple types for every gender, sex, orientation, political alignment, and so on.
that email does not need to be "made" about trans men or transmisandry, it clearly always was.
bonus: Robert Trivers is an evolutionary biologist and sociobiologist who once said, "By the time they're 14 or 15, they're like grown women were 60 years ago, so I don't see these acts as so heinous;" so it is technically possible that, after also considering the wording of his email, Trivers was not there to traffic and rape trans women, and was instead just bothering his "vacation" bro with his stupid pseudoscience theories about the sexual "sociobiology" of trans people because he's an evil ignorant nerd. ending that shit with "oh and also they're injecting 3 year old toddlers with hormones based on gender roles" really resets the tone for me.
i think his theory is just the classic cis male "women [by which they usually do not mean women, but people born with pussies on them who's chest are set to enlarge in puberty in general] are lucky because they can just do onlyfans or marry some guy and it's just so easy because all they have to do is be sexy and give sex and that's fun 😭 but it's ok because i have a penis and such which makes me better and them losers 😎" bullshit, now spread amongst trans people how he sees fit. i think there is something to say about the accuracy of how he depicted some aspects of transmisandry, but unfortunately, i think this is because he really does believe trans men are biologically the worst of both worlds.

To be absolutely clear about something as a sex trafficking survivor myself-
Epstein saying trans men are the "worst of both worlds" and describing them as gross and making a whole deal out of it doesn't mean that trans men would've been safe from being trafficked by him. Epstein was a fixer, he would get rich people whatever they wanted and that included children. If a rich person wanted to assault a trans man he would've gotten one for them. A trafficker's own preferences mean nothing. Some of the people involved with my trafficking were not obviously pedophiles. They didn't find me attractive but they continued to traffic me for the money.
Some of my traffickers did like me. I was a favorite of one of my traffickers. That was absolutely hell and one of the most horrific things I ever went through. But that doesn't mean that the people who weren't especially liked by the traffickers weren't victims. It doesn't mean they didn't suffer.
People need to stop saying this is some kind of proof trans men wouldn't have been or were not trafficked.
This is absolutely true.
Though it should be noted that the email in question is not Epstein writing, it is Robert Trivers, one of those "evolutionary biologist" folks who were somehow in the general vicinity of Epstein (like also Robert Dawkins).
That is just one of those other things with Epstein. There were a bunch of big name scientists who somehow received their money from him - and now we see the disgusting shit they wrote with him. :(
also, from what i understand, the email was specifically talking about trans men who had gone on testosterone. there are many trans men who never get the chance to "ruin" their bodies, because they are never given enough bodily autonomy to access medical transition in the first place. trans men often experience corrective rape, even have relatives organize their rapes/forced marriages explicitly to prevent them from transitioning.
given how many victims Epstein had (current estimates are around 1200), it is literally inevitable that he had trafficked transmasc victims. most of his victims were young girls, presumed to be cis women, but anyone who thinks somehow there were zero transmasc victims is fucking delusional. even if 1% were victims, that's still 12 transmasc victims at the very minimum, and I would not be shocked if there were more than that. anyone who tries to argue otherwise should be fucking ashamed of themselves for turning this into discourse. literal scum of the earth. fuck these people for acting like this, truly. it's despicable. it's completely and utterly despicable. it is quite literally rape culture in action.
