it's amazing how the entire ocean is alive. every drop of sea water. bacteria and algae everywhere. you can tell i'm high on green tea lol
Though polyamory challenges it more directly, being monogamous still shouldn't mean you own your partner. Love doesn't mean possession. Monogamy doesn't mean ownership. Monogamous or polyamorous, your relationship boundaries should be an understanding between you. It should leave room to talk to each other, to communicate with them. Whatever romantic or dirty talk may exist in your relationships doesn't have to be literal. If you choose to give yourself to another person it should be a free choice, it shouldn't mean losing yourself, and it should mean what you understand it to mean.
There should always be room for you and your partner(s) to be your own people. There should be room for friends and family. There should be room for feelings without either taking it on each other or feelings being treated as an affront. That room to breathe can be an act of closeness, trust, and love in itself.
Find a lover who says “I see your trauma, and I know you are so much more than your experiences.” That kind of love and support that helps you heal, grow, thrive.

reminder that the word “gaslighting” doesn’t just mean “lying”, and someone can’t gaslight you through a one-off interaction, especially not a one-off interaction over the internet.
gaslighting is a repeated process of encouraging someone to question their own reality to the point that they think they’re going crazy. part of this is lying. but another key component is domination and control. the person doing the gaslighting has to have a level of power over the victim in order for the abuse to be successful.
this is a serious thing that can need a lifetime of recovery to get through. it’s traumatic, it’s abusive, and it’s so much more than what the internet makes it out to be. watering down the word to mean “lying” is doing an injustice to the victims of true gaslighting.
