Howdy! hope this doesn't come off as anon hate because I'm trying have a discussion, but reading your responses to Uptonthots I think both of you were talking past each other and mischaracterizing what the other said? I don't think there argument was that these things Aren't societal, it sounds like a "society can't improve without the actions of individuals" thing. And you weren't saying women are individually responsible for all of men's actions, only that women can't be wholly absent from the process either?
Correct! I donât think we are talking past one another, I understand where she is coming from. Individually, she is correct, but I do genuinely think it is harmful when people apply an individual lense to a systemic problem. She is using the fact that women are not individually responsible to say that men are always entirely responsible, that there are no further factors and that no deeper problem exists, and I take a lot of issue with that. I just donât think it is a helpful way to approach it. Actions of individuals are rarely if ever enough to truly improve society. Pretty much every solution has taken a movement that includes more than just the individuals directly impacted because solving it individually doesnât resolve the cause. Just the effect.
I wound up blocking her not because I think sheâs a bad person (though I do think she was incredibly uncharitable), but because the conversation clearly was going nowhere and I didnât want to keep feeling the need to respond. It bothers me that a post with that kind of uncharitable outlook on a problem that clearly needs solving will get those kind of notes, but itâs the internet at the end of the day! And we are all strangers here. No one is required to give anyone the benefit of the doubt.
I donât see this as anon hate. But I do stand firmly by what I said, even if there are probably many ways I could have worded it better! It just really bothers me when we leave behind the mantra of âblame systems, not peopleâ only in the moments when it is personally convenient to us to do so. And this is one of those moments for a lot of women.
If you're an American with a disability who receives government assistance, you likely qualify for an ABLE account, or you may starting next
The age of eligibility for an ABLE account, allowing USAmerican disabled people to save up money without losing their government assistance for having âtoo much,â is going to go up to cover disabilities diagnosed by age 46 (currently itâs age 26), meaning a much larger number of people will be able to access them. As the article notes, many Americans donât know these accounts exist, let alone whether they or someone they care for could qualify for one, so please share this information around.
It seems to me it would obviously be better if the âno more than $2000 a monthâ limit were simply removed and disabled people could have whatever savings accounts they chose, but this is heaps better than nothing.
Effective as of January 1, 2026, eligibility has expanded to folks whose disabled diagnosis was established prior to turning 46 years old
About ABLE Accounts An ABLE account is a savings and / or investment option for people with disabilities who qualify. It falls under Section
My mom has one of these and it is genuinely incredible. It allows her to have her own savings and cover her own medical bills when necessary.
Important to note that you can only have one account, but if your state does not offer them, you can apply to the program within a state that does offer them. You donât need to live in a state to have an account with them.
fixed it
the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.

already can't pretend to care about the male loneliness epidemic because it isn't real but listening to the way men actually talk about their friends/what they think friendship entails makes me care even less sorry
read an AITA earlier today about a guy who would walk his female friend home to her dorm very often UNTIL she rejected his romantic advances*, then when she asks him to walk her home bc she's drunk and feels unsafe he says no. Men in the comments were clamoring to insist he "didn't owe her anything" and that she was a deceptive harpy who wanted to use her #femaleprivilege to get "special treatment"
and idkkkkkkk that could never be me sorry!! wym you don't care about your friends safety and are willing to mildly inconvenience yourself to ensure they are okay? no compassion or care for the people in your life but its an "epidemic" when you don't have friends? lol
#my favorite thing about every invented problem men have that is dire and world ending #is that it's none of their responsibility to fix it #'if men can't talk about their feelings are you making an effort to do that and check in with your friends?' #'no I'm acting exactly the same but now when I'm called out on being a dick I have an excuse that says it isn't my fault :)' #and now men being bad friends is women's job to fix not theirs lmao
âŹïž i've only ever seen the "male loneliness epidemic" used as a means to scold women. never as an encouragement for men to be better friends to each other
#also as far as i can tell the social penalty for men being good friends to people#is being perceived as feminine and/or gay#which.#if you're going to let your repulsion for women and gay men stop you from having friends#that seems like a you problem!
Actually really hate this argument. I agree the âmale loneliness epidemicâ is a stupid way to phrase it, but I think this response to a problem is people taking something that isnt about them incredibly personally. No one is talking about you.
The only women Iâve ever seen targeted with criticism about this is mothers, and yeah, parents do need to do better. Who do you think helps reinforce the idea that feminine = bad for boys? Who do you think could provide a different basis instead?
Incredibly mean spirited. Loneliness is a growing problem for everyone, and the bootstraps rhetoric yâall love to hate on when it comes to economic troubles really rears its head when the issues become social. Is it up to adults to fix their own social experiences? Yeah, no one is responsible for putting up with you, that is life. Is that what people are talking about when they say there is a problem where boys are brought up without a lot of the tools to succeed socially in the future? No, obviously not.
âThe only women Iâve ever seen targeted with criticism about this is mothersâ okay so youre uninformed and donât even know what weâre even talking about + saying itâs a conservative mindset for women to not take responsibility for menâs social behavior. like a conservative lol
No, that isnt what Iâm saying. Iâm explicitly telling you not to take responsibility for menâs behavior, and you hearing rhe opposite is literally the entire problem I am pointing out. âMen donât have social support structuresâ does not mean âwomen need to provide those structuresâ so stop hearing something that I am not only not saying, but actively said the opposite of.
Women are guilty of being misogynist just like men are, and women are guilty of raising sons to be assholes just as often as men are. Pretty sure thatâs feminism 101, or are we arguing against that now too?
Look, Iâm not trying to be a jerk, but seriously. The reason I am calling this post conservative logic is because it is looking at a societal problem and saying society has no responsibility for it. Instead the people who donât know how to socialize just need to socialize better, and other than that, people need to stop talking about it. How is that different than âthe people who are poor just need to make money better, what, is it my responsibility to pay for them with my hard earned taxes?â.
People can not deserve help. Thay doesnât mean we shouldnât have conversations about how to help them. If you donât want to be individually involved, then fine! Donât participate, no one is going to make you. We can still have the conversations, and if you choose to take those conversations personally, I guess that is on you. Like I said in the tags. If everyone throws up their hands at every problem that wasnât personally caused by them, and says it isnt their problem, then nothing ever improves. And I donât see anyone here making the argument that there isnât a problem. Only arguing whose fault it is and why they personally donât give a shit.
You hopped onto a post about men treating women and other men poorly to insist that actually mothers (not mentioned in this post at all) raise their sons badly and are, therefore, responsible for the way in which misogynistic men behave towards women*. I feel like I donât have to explain why thats weird lol. I think if youâre going to talk about feminism 101 you should probably understand that that behavior is deeply weird and, statistically, more in line with the behaviors of individuals who believe women are responsible for menâs actions than they are in line with the opposite.
There is a plethora of reasons why âmale lonelinessâ is not equivalent to systematic classism (đ) but the most obvious of which is that âfriendsâ or âtreating people wellâ is not a resource that the ruling class controls and can withhold from men as a class. Thereâs an argument to be made about how capitalism snuffs out peoples ability to engage in their community, but thatâs not exclusive to men (most things cited as causes of the âmale loneliness epidemicâ are not) and thatâs not what youâre talking about now.
this is because barring âmen need to choose to be betterâ those are the only solutions. Who has control over menâs social behaviors and interpersonal relationships, other than themselves? Iâve seen peoole talk about âeducatingâ men, but I feel like I donât have to explain why relying on men being receptive and welcoming of feminist ideas is not a great game plan (it also circles back around to what class of people is expected to do the educating. Hints itâs women.) Education also requires a willing participant, which counts as âchoosing to better.â You are not the first person to make arguments like this on my posts and often times the difference in what weâre saying boils down to âmen need to choose to do betterâ v.s. âmen need to do better but itâs not their fault itâs mommyâs fault itâs Societyâs fault if everyone hugs him and kissed him heâll do better but mommy has to do it for him dont be mean he doesnât know anything đ„șâ at which point the question becomes why do you need a bunch of diversions and clarifications and excuses in order to agree with the idea that men must be active players in overcoming this issues or else they will literally never be solved
It isnât weird, itâs actually true, and I find it weirder when people treat women as though they are solely victims who can do no wrong. Itâs patronizing and aggravating. We uphold patriarchy too, we are capable of misandry too, but you are apparently incapable of accepting or recognizing the trend of gender impacting emotional and social behavior as a societal issue. Genuinely, wild to me. I thought this was widely known, but maybe itâs been lost in the decade between us.
âMen need to choose to be better.â Correct. Nothing in my response said otherwise, jfc. You are so angry you are shadowboxing me into the ground without even understanding what the hell Iâm saying, lmao.
People cannot always fix themselves. People without skills need others to help teach them, be that parents, teachers, friends, therapists. I donât really care. Individually, yeah, you donât have to help every random man around you. The fact that you think anyone would reasonably expect that is ridiculous, and because I have the ability to see nuance I can disregard those suggestions because they are nonsense. It doesnât make the whole conversation worthless.
I came on a reductive post that absolutely reeks of terfy, gender essentialist bs to voice the correction that the so called âloneliness epidemicâ is poorly named and is instead a problem of boys often being set up for failure socially. Is this always the case? No. Is it enough of a trend to be worth talking about? Probably.
If you donât want the opinions of others, donât post on here. If I see something I feel is incorrect, sorry, Iâm going to correct it. I think you are oversimplifying, I think your oversimplification plays into a narrative that has really irritated me over the past year, and so Iâm weighing in.
I love that you have to twist my words and misquote me in a way I didnt in any way respond. I wonât bother anymore. I was genuinely trying to be respectful responding but tbh, it clearly isnât worth it. I am so sick of radfem narratives on this site, and even if that isnât your intention, that is absolutely where this kind of anger and generalizing leads.

It would kill half the 19-25 year olds online to realize "I can't help it I have trauma" is one of THE quintessential abuser excuses
Like there is a difference between "My trauma creates impulsive urges and has changed my instinctive reactions to be irrational, I need to relearn shit." vs "I'm traumatized so I Can't Help It and you're not allowed to expect better of me"

Ok so thanks for voting on this but i need you to reblog it too
folks i'm worried for us
having the Aviation Accident Investigations Autismâąïž has actually done wonders for the way I process and respond to my own fuck-ups
And I don't just mean "oh, my little work mistake is actually nothing compared to a fiery crash that kills people," either. The reason commercial flight is so many orders of magnitude safer than any other form of transportation is because after every accident and incident, an independent regulatory body investigated it with the express goal of figuring out exactly what happened, why, and how to prevent the same thing from ever happening againânot to root out which person deserved the blame or the liability.
It's a simple, shockingly effective idea. It's also worlds away from how most people approach their own mistakes and the mistakes of others.
Because itâs never just one personâs fault. And even when it is, it still isnât.Â
The sharpest, best-trained pilots make worse decisions when they're tired or sick or stressed out, so there's two of them. The most dedicated and experienced air traffic controllers garble an instruction over the radio sometimes, so pilots are trained to always repeat clearances back to catch misunderstandings quickly. The best and brightest maintenance mechanic still overlooks a screw or misconnects a wire once or twice in her career, so aircraft systems are built with two or three or four layers of redundancy, and pilots are exhaustively trained to deal with failures safely.Â
Everyone eventually has a bad day. Every component breaks down. Every computer gets a bad a Windows update and spirals into a reboot doom loop. If itâs possible for one personâs mistake to domino into a mushroom cloud of a fuckup, then that task is too critical to be one person's sole responsibility. The accident sequence starts with the design of the systemâso how do you improve the system to keep it from happening again?
oh yeah. The âmodern commercial aviation is the safest form of transportâ thing only applies to planes, btw. A helicopter is a beautiful metal horse that wants to break its legs and die so so so badly
This is such a good example of systemic solutions to problems!! Putting it in my pocket for explaining problem-solving vs. blame and punishment in the future.
Swiss cheese model of risk management, my beloved!

This site is dedicated to the freedom that is our spiritual and material birthright as beings born onto a planet created to sustain each and every form of life.
A planet created by the Great Spirit as part of the gift of life itself - not to be taken as the private property of any species, nor any sect within a species, however rich and powerful they may become.
Land is more than somewhere to live - it is life itself. Without exception, everything around you, EVERY SINGLE THING you use and consume in the process of leading your life are products of the land These are the simple facts: If you have no land to live from, you are dependent on money to purchase the products of the land; if you have no money to live from, you depend on employment to gain the money; if you have no employment, then dependent on the State; if the State refuses you, you beg for the charity of the rich; no charity, you steal or you die.
Such is the chain which binds us to each other, and to the land.BEarthright transforms that chain into a lifeline.
Whose Planet are we living on?
To live is to use Land - To own Land is to own Life itself
Every inch of our planet is now owned by some person or organisation The majority population (60% to 90%) in EVERY inhabited country are landless - own no part of the planet whatsoever, not even their own homes The richest 5% in every nation, rich and poor, North and South, East and West, now own between 70% and 95% of their own countries
If you do not own enough of this planet to support yourself And you cannot support yourself without this planet Who is it who supports you? And do they support youâŠ.. or through their owning the land that supports you do they now own you, own your work, your space, your freedom to live as you choose?
If you own no land to support yourself, you must rent, hire or buy it from those that do, so that you may both live and make a living If you cannot use the planet to feed, clothe and provide for yourself then to stay alive, you must choose to either work for those who own your planet, to become a thief or a beggar, or to die. This servitude has taken on many forms throughout history: slavery, serfdom, day-labour, employment. The only variation being the share of the wealth produced left to the planet borrowers by the planet owners This simple reality underlies much of todayâs poverty, inequality, lack of freedom, unemployment and powerlessness, experienced as the sheer struggle to get by that looms so large in so many peoplesâ lives These latter day pharaohs, the planet owners, the richest 5% - allow the rest of us to pay day after day for the right to live on their planet. And as we make them richer, they buy yet more of the planet for themselves, and use their wealth and power to fight amongst themselves over what each posesses ~ though of course itâs actually us who have to fight and die in their wars
Land is not property ~ land is life. Land is not created by people ~ it creates people. We need land ~ but land doesnât need us.
These are the Powers in the Gift of the Land:
the Land Owner owns life: (food, living space, materials ~ for tools, building homes, cities, technology)
the power to create or destroy people: (famine & war, plenty & opportunity)
and to cut people off when no longer needed:(unemployment, homelessness, poverty, starvation).
The Power in the land is the Power OF the Land 95% of the USA is owned by the richest 3% of Americans 60% of El Salvador is owned by the richest 2% of El Salvadorians 86% of South Africa is owned by the white minority 74% of United Kingdom is owned by the richest 2% of Britons 84% of Scotland is owned by the richest 7% of Scots Whose Planet are we living on?
You really ought to just explore the website
The number of people who equate âbullyingâ with âbeing mean to me when I insult you and stick my nose in your business for no reasonâ is incredible.
I donât know who on here needs to hear this, but you do in fact have the right to stand up for yourself. It doesnât matter if someone is âwell meaningâ while they are insulting you. You can be rude back, you do not owe them respect or patience.
Feels like too often the group being insulted is also the group expected to run PR for their experience. But I donât actually think being polite in the face of being insulted changes anyoneâs mind. Instead it just shows the other person what they are doing is fine to do again. Be rude and donât let anyone make you feel like the bad guy for standing up for and respecting yourself.
everyone's afraid of looking busted everyone's afraid of making mistakes everyone's afraid of looking stupid everyone's afraid of embarrassment everyone's afraid of imperfections because of the damn PANOPTICON that is current society and it's fucking STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everyone's talking about the ibs/autism haha funny comparison thing while I'm still stuck on the concept that hamsters exist in the wild. like naturally
tf do you mean they're a wild creature. you find those ankle-biters at the pet store
Not a biologist, but the evolution of mammals is way more granular than you might expect. Humans are the sole surviving species of the genus Homo, which was a real party before the other ones went extinct. You're in for a fun time.
Domestic cats are believed to be domesticated not from tigers, but from the African wildcat:
Which evolved to be small just because it's sometimes more useful to be small.
And no, hamsters are not off-brand rats. They're part of the rodent order, which includes beavers, moles, capybaras, guinea pigs (yes, also wild) and lots of other fun things:
Shit. This dude knows an extreme amount about a niche subject. Crazy what you can accomplish when you have treatment resistant IBS
I want it on record that I shit mostly normal.
