"I was talking to God. Do you understand nothing of our reforms? God is not in church, He's everywhere. We do not need priests to speak for us. We can speak to Him ourselves, and He will listen."

[holds your face in my hands gently] the hockey of it all matters so much. you can create such a rich story, such a rich alternative, such a rich point of view on what exists if you just care about the hockey of it all

When we parted ways, neither he, nor I dared to cry But why is it then since, sleep hasn't touched our eyes
He was my companion but not in harmony were we Like sunshine and shadows, separated yet intertwined, you see
We had our share of fights, our difference of opinions and beliefs My lover had it all, but not a speck of infidelity in him
He was my companion, but not in harmony were we…

(urdu words can have multiple meanings, and i had fun playing around with them in this vide and trying to draw out the ones that i wanted you to know. i'm providing the translation for those of you who are interested in a more straightforward approach.)
special thanks to @miscelium and @nettlepixie for taking a second look at two very different stages in the process and for their advice!
Bro I've fallen in love with your public, private series! Such an amazing take on these characters... you keeping them in their respective cities because so much of their relationship is defined by hockey and their legacies etc etc. Just wondering if you'd ever write the reactions of the public/hockey world on their coming out in that verse and staying in different teams
Ayyyyy thank you so much, all this makes me soooo very happy!!! I love chatting about this verse! I have and am still trying hard to portray how they are hockey and how important Montreal is to Shane and Boston is to Ilya, but I feel like in this verse neither Shane or Ilya would have ever thought about switching teams and nobody in the public domain would ever think it’s weird for them to stay on different teams either, because really Shane IS Montreal and Ilya IS Boston haha! Which makes it a tad challenging for me to try to show how this AU is my little comfort fix-it without having that alternative as a point for comparison. In this verse we just pretend nothing else happened and canon doesn’t exist lol I feel like if I force a reference to canon it would sound like I’m preaching through the text. I can just feel Public Private!Hollanov side-eyeing me like wtf lady… what are you even talking about… leave my team, not in my world…
As to public reactions to them coming out—not sure if I’d write more about it but I’m currently toying with the idea of writing a short opinion piece-type journalism piece in this series, likely as part of chapter 2 of ‘Let you do it to me’ (the belting piece) if it fits, not exactly about their coming out but more focused on their legacy… I had hoped to finish the LYDITM piece this weekend but my weekend work is piling up a lot nowadays so I have to go a bit more slowly, we will see how it turns out x

it has in it warnings and chances and painful beauty
I was always hungry for love. Just once, I wanted to know what it was like to get my fill of it -- to be fed so much love I couldn't take any more. Just once.

HEATED RIVALRY — DAY 1
Recalling the first day of filming, Tierney says that after seeing the pair excel in the emotional wringer, his own “nerves were out the window, I knew I could throw anything at those guys.”
“Why shouldn't we, so generally addicted to the gigantic, at last have some small works of art, some short poems, short pieces of music [...], some intimate, low-voiced, and delicate things in our mostly huge and roaring, glaring world?” ― Elizabeth Bishop
