#STORY TIME. SIXTH GRADE
#my math teacher chewed me out in front of the whole class for not turning in an assignment EVEN THOUGH DID
#so she handed me a paper and thought I could do it in class and then turn it in fora late grade
#she called me out telling me was being defiant and threatened to call my grandmother
#time skip. she's handing back graded papers. at this point had completed the missing assignment
#AND WHAT'S THIS? SHE HANDS BACK TWO OF THE SAME PAPERS. BOTH WITH TWO DIFFERENT DATES
#ONE BEFORE THE DUE DATE. AND ONE AFTER #SO HAD COMPLETED THE PAPER. IT WASN'T A MISSING ASSIGNMENT
#ANDI GOT NO APOLOGY FOR IT
#still hold a grudge to this day. I'm sorry Im not letting that slide #reblog
#another story is with one of my elementary teachers #in language arts
#after reading an article/ story we were expected to have the page filled with notes #well we did so. but it wasnt enough
#instead of. y'know. encouraging us to analyze a little more we were constantly shamed for not doing enough
#like whole class time telling us how mad she was LIKE. TELL US HOW TO IMPROVE
I have lost a few paper assignments. But I always assumed it was my fault for being disorganized, not the student's fault for not turning it in. Like, yeah, I asked them to check everything and be sure but... I really cannot care about the piece of paper with answers written on it.
Unfortunately, The System needs a grade. And teaching can be very stressful. But what the fuck, why didn't they apologize?
What other stories do people have?
Edit: There are some incredible stories from the replies and comments on this post. I have posted them to @ilp-wall-of-fame here, here, here, here, and here.
Two:
One teacher I had when I was eight and twelve. When I was eight it was my birthday. I came into the classroom with treats to hand out and everything. At the end of the day she hadn't even acknowledged me and I had to take all of them home. My mother was livid.
When I was twelve we were going on a school trip to some airbase because the father of a classmate worked for the Dutch airforce and wanted to give us a tour. There was no bus like usual, there were parents who would drive us with their private cars, carpool idea. The teacher had 'forgotten' to assign me to a car, and I had to be put in one last minute that happened to have a seat free.
Later that year we were preparing for the musical that is traditionally put on by the elementary school graduating class at the end of the schoolyear. We were being told the scenes we would have to audition for and the class was being rowdy. I was clearly being assigned scene 4 for a part I was really hoping to get. I went to our neighbours, practiced and rehearsed my heart out, and when the day of the auditions came, suddenly I had to perform scene 6.
And in university I wrote a paper that involved the concept of shipping. I used the term in the introduction and it could be inferred from the context, and then in the theoretical framework I expanded on the term and gave it a proper definition, but apparently it wasn't good enough. I was given feedback to change it in the draft and I did, I gave it a quick but clear definition in the introduction as well. She sent me an email being pissed that I hadn't properly defined the term, with weird derogative language and very inappropriate for a university professor. I had another course at the same time so I didn't need the ECs, so I decided not to rewrite it for a resit. She sent me an email asking, suddenly nicely, why, and I sent one back saying that considering some of the bullshit feedback (put nicely ofc) and the unprofessional way she had communicated in her email I did not feel like putting the energy into 'fixing' the paper. She was 'sorry to hear that'.
And those are just the ones I personally had beef with. There were some teachers that were very unpleasant or even inappropriate with some of my classmates.
That's the bouncer.
Happy towel day, loves!
mutuals feel free to do this
I love this lil guy he looks so happy ;_;

there is no "distraction from the Epstein class" because there is no "Epstein class". or rather: the world is the Epstein class, and the persons in question are distinguished not by some exceptional depravity of desire but by their superlative means. they have the resources to realize, on dizzying scales, exactly the same patterns of exploitation that repeat fractally down to the enclosure of the family unit. acting as though this is a sectarian phenomenon on any level—political, financial, cultural, whatever—is itself the distraction from the violence of the family and the construction of the child. do you think this is a problem to be solved with swift prosecutions and moral vindication? do you think you can make this go away by punishing a handful of elites, leaving the fact that children are institutionally deprived of freedom intact, leaving us still in a world where children grow up made financially dependent on their families, forced to seek resources elsewhere when desperate? do you think Epstein et al. are monsters, and our duty is a grandiose quest to rid the world of monsters? but there are no monsters, only people, embedded in structures that make certain people more vulnerable and others less. this repeats everywhere, not just in the united states, not just in the west, not just for the rich, who are only special quantitatively, not qualitatively. do not be distracted by the phantom of an "Epstein class" that presents you with a convenient moral target. justice is not a boss battle.
"The Epstein class"
simplifies capitalism to a group of people to hate, instead of a system that creates conditions in which some people can be very rich and very powerful and very terrible and it is this system against which we must organize to put power in the hands of the working class.
simplifies child abuse to a group of people to hate, instead of a system that leaves children of all classes in a vulnerable position where they can be easily exploited - most often by a parent or family member, and it is this system against which we must organize to put power in the hands of children.
Wasnt there this paper about how a quarter of Dutch men had gone to South East Asia to participate in sex tourism? All classes, as long as they could afford the vacation? It's not just the uber wealthy. Dont let them distract you.
You're misremembering that study. It was 2,3%. It also wasn't about travel to south east asia specifically, but about traveling abroad to 'have sex with' (rape) a minor.
1,5% of Dutch men in the study had travelled abroad and 'had sex' (raped) a minor younger than 12 years old.
While South East Asian countries were high on the list, so were countries like Turkey, Morocco, Lithuania and Kenia and the Dominican Republic.
The study did not release precise income data but did state that perpetrators came from all income groups.
While not a quarter, it's worth thinking about what 2,3% of men means. It means 1 in 43. It means that statistically speaking we all know at least one man who did this.
Oh great, I couldn't find the study and this is probably why. But I did remember that the number was scary high. 1 in 43 is that, thanks for correcting me!

My mom admitted that she and my dad miss me and my brother because we both moved out of the city. But it's like... That's what happens when you tell your kids they gotta get out at 18 🤣 me especially! Made it real clear my ass would have no place once I was "grown". Now we miss me. Yeah uh huh. The quences are consing, mother!
My father's fiancee is doing this to her kids, under the guise of 'when you're 18 you go to university and you need to live alone so you can have Experiences etc'. Her kids are going to be kicked out of the house before they are ready and they cannot come back home because no way is my father putting up with them for a second longer than he has to. The eldest turned 18 last year, her mother and my father found her a university far enough away that she cannot live at home anymore, but she is 18, has an eating disorder, autism, has had a heart attack, and lost her father three years ago. She is going to have such a rough time of it if she lives alone. The solution: dump her at her grandparents. No longer her mother and future stepfather's issue. There's three more kids for them to kick out the moment they turn 18.

You are a tech scavenger in a post apocalyptic future. No one else is better at hacking into “smart” devices from the mid 2020s to retrieve lost data. Paid handsomely for found art and literature. But you are about to find something priceless, that places your life in jeopardy…
You find a harddrive full of solar punk literature, and you decide to use it.
Ok so i tries mouthwash for the first time and that shit is _gross_ how do yall do this every night?
Lol fr, it's eating people's brains. Had a classmate's boyfriend proudly proclaim that he got the recipe for fried chicken (with milk batter and corn flakes) off shitgpt. The guy supposedly worked in a restaurant for a few years as a cook and contemplated culinary school. But needs the digital asbestos machine for such a simple fried chicken recipe. Smh.
Ugh, the current job market sucks so much. I go to a different country to do my master's, assuming I'll get funding for the whole thing. Nope, the programme is two years, I won't have funding for the last half year. Now they've cut the additional funding so I don't get enough income to pay my full rent and am gonna have to dip into my savings. At the same time I need to get my driver's licence because otherwise I'm gonna have to sit in a car with my abusive father and dickhead brother for two days and then have them drive me to wherever I end up and I don't want them to know where I'm gonna live so that's not an option. So I get a job, right? Except I live in a foreign country where I don't speak the language fluently, so any regular student jobs are out. I try to find a job online in either English or my native language with my bachelor's that is both part time and fully online and there is literally nothing. So I look for fully online part time student jobs and it's all surveys. I finally find one that is helping small batches of students oversee their homework and I never hear back. It is dire, I can't find a single job that is not a hustle. Wtf is this?
