Hot take but praise is a good tool for encouraging healthy behavior. Positive reinforcement is good. Relying exclusively on punishment to change people's behavior is both cruel and ineffective. If someone does better than they did yesterday, let them know you appreciate it, let them know that they're improving!

Except non aro/ace people usually require romantic affection and sexual satisfaction to sustain in a relationship, even if they love a person. Don’t condemn them for desiring physical advances and romance with their significant other. They deserve that kind of relationship just as much as an aro/ace deserves one without it.

My self-esteem dropped to nothing while dating him. He tried his best, but he wasnt comfortable doing things that would help me feel better. I wasnt getting the attention I needed.
I was with him for 5 ½ years. He is my best friend. But this was not going to work.

I’m not a fan of Loki either, but this criticism is just stupid, and ignores the 100’s of hours of work that VFX and background artists pour into these shots.
You know, now that I think of it? That tweet is actually a prime example of why Sci-fi and other Genre films have such a hard time winning awards.
They have to go to ridiculous lengths to get a scene to match the imagery they want, to go for things that cannot be realized in our actual world.

You completely missed the original intent of the flag. The original flag is ALREADY inclusive. In fact, the one you added is not because it misuses the black stripe for race when it was originally used for those who died of aids. It's offensive to our history. Race is not needed because it is meant to be covered with the lavender stripe. Lavender represents diversity, which covers race and sexuality.
Trans people are already covered with this flag because this is designed for the community. Gay men have their own pride flag. It's a bit similar in style to the lesbian flag but uses blue and green colors.

in our house we have a few categories of stimming behavior.
1. the no category. this is for things that are unsafe. hurting self (head banging, scratching), hurting others, chewing on choking hazards. i know this is excluded in OP’s post, but i’m putting it on my list because if you parent an autistic child and deal with this, you have to be aware that a key to off-limits stimming is redirection. stimming satisfies an important physical and neurological need for the autistic brain, and that behavior is sensory-seeking. if you must say no, please also offer options or help redirecting to appropriate outlets for pressure, motion, rhythm, chewing, etc.
2. the shared space category. listen, i get that a lot of people are assholes about things that aren’t hurting them. that’s not what this category is for. but we have a household with multiple autistic individuals and a work from home situation. “shared space” is the code phrase we use for “please take this stimming to a different location.” sometimes, aural stims like repetitive noises or physical stims like pacing can be legitimately distracting to other people in a room (or car!). in the case of other autistic people, it might even feel painful or mentally consuming. this category is no-judgment “please move to another location to continue stimming this way.” it’s not bad, it’s not wrong, you aren’t being shamed– just do your best to respect others and their needs or comfort, and leave the communal area or lower your volume.
3. the you do you category. it doesn’t matter that nobody else is doing this to feel comfortable or happy– you aren’t hurting anyone else, you aren’t being disruptive in a space other people are using together. go for it.
and in every single category, anger has no place in redirecting a stim. not even the no category. stimming isn’t malicious, there’s no actual moral requirement to be “less weird” or “like everyone else.” even reminders like “you aren’t the only person in this room and that’s very loud” don’t need anger. stims aren’t done at anyone. they’re just the body expressing a kind of neurological hunger, and whether the answer is “enjoy that!” or “this isn’t safe for you to eat (ie, do)” fury doesn’t help.

How are non-dysphoric trans people “stealing” resources if dysphoric people still have access to those resources regardless of whether or not the former chooses to pursue them? There’s no shortage of hormones. If non-dysphoric trans people get hormones, therapists, and appointments dysphoric trans people still can... I don’t understand your logic. Leave people alone for just trying to pursue their own health and happiness, geez.
[P2]Plus, gender therapy and consultations with endocrinologists aren’t really cheap and, at least in my state, are very hard to get covered by insurance. So saying that gnc people trying to get hormones is just for the sake of attention or to get “free benefits,” for many people, those things are not at all free. Plus in conservative states it’s very hard even for dysphoric trans people to get HRT. Why blame gnc people when you can blame the gvt for not giving trans people their resources???
Apply this to hormones, counsellors, whatever else. It applies. Trenders who go through transitioning develop dysphoria and damage their body while trans people are suffering with their own dysphoria (and, of course, the image that trenders give trans people).
There may be a price on those “free” benefits, one of which being the consequences of wrongly trying to transition. But what i meant by “free benefits” was more of a “look how oppressed i am for being trans” type bullshit without having to deal with WHAT MAKES SOMEONE TRANS.
People are trying to get/keep transition operations and hormones and counselling insured, but people like you who claim that you don’t need dysphoria make the category of those things fall under cosmetic rather than medical. You are standing in the fire you (helped) made and complaining that it is hot, annie.
If you bitch and whine about this, you’re one of those pissbabies who contributes this problem.
Stop fucking stealing critical resources for actual trans people.
This is exactly what we mean when we say taking trans resources. Without dysphoria, you are increasing the length of waiting lists for everyone. You can’t just be ‘fit in’ in order of severity, you’re just tacked onto the end of a line. Non dysphoric trans people are essentially barring actual trans people from receiving the help they need to survive. And y’all have the nerve to call us gatekeepers
The hormone shortages aren’t fake, they aren’t infinite, and even if they are complete synthetic it is taking other compounds to make them and time to make them; natural hormones have to be collected, tested, and packaged. First in line to get hormones are the cis people who need it because of medical conditions else more severe conditions will arise then people seeking transition will get what remains, its not just for transitioning purposes.

Saying there is a shortage isn’t a lie, we aren’t making this stuff up. As with anything we consume there can be shortages of it for various reasons, and the outcry of hormones has risen past double the amount that had been asking for them in the past few years and the medical facilities packaging them were/are not ready for the demand to increase that much so they could only send what they could package.
I experience shortages all the fucking time trying to get my testosterone filled. It causes my levels to drop dramatically because I have to stretch my hormones, or I just have to go without for like multiple weeks at a time. It’s fucking annoying as hell! Stop fucking stealing our resources goddammit! Even with surgery, I had to book almost half a year in advance because there wasn’t availability with my surgeon until that date. Not to mention the fact that my insurance wouldn’t even cover a portion of it, because they viewed it as cosmetic DESPITE my multiple gender dysphoria diagnoses that I spent quite a lot of money being diagnosed for by two different psychologists PURELY for surgery. I had to pay almost $12,000 up front. My insurance also won’t cover my hormones, so I have to use a fucking coupon app, because they literally don’t view gender dysphoria as a real medical condition anymore because fucking tucutes are destroying everything we have tried to build for decades!
Plus there’s the increasing number of people who detransition due to the “ask and you shall receive” policy about trans health care nowadays. I mean the old (pre-DSM-V) system wasn’t perfect as it often took too long for some people’s needs, but at least you had psychological safeguards in place to prevent people from wrongly transitioning. Now people aren’t even required to see a goddamn therapist before hormones or surgery. (And trust me, transitioning is a major life decision. Honestly, if I could enforce “X months of therapy before any cosmetic procedure” I would. And even if you DO need it you may not be emotionally mature enough to handle going through it without support or professional help.)

It’s that nobody asked anyone what they thought about banning the word, just a bunch of assholes decided that because they didn’t want to hear it ever again, and so declared that nobody should be allowed to say it.
Now, you’d know this if you listened to other people, honestly. God knows that there are plenty of people JUST LIKE ME, who were targeted with that term in our childhoods and just shrugged and moved on. None of us had any problem with the term ‘retard’ or ‘retarded’.
But then a bunch of assholes came out, said none of us could use it again or WE would suddenly be treated as monsters, and we’re left going who the FUCK do you think you are to make that decision FOR ME.
You didn’t ask. You didn’t float the idea around. You made the call and then acted like you had the absolute power to decide what words were good and what were bad.
And then you dared to claim that it was for our sake. That you were doing it for US, the people you never asked in the first fucking place.
We know you don’t care. That you literally never cared. If you cared there are a lot bigger, BETTER things one could push to get there to be acceptance and understanding for people with mental and physical disabilities. But getting a word banned gives you a feeling of power, and gives you the false appearance of being a ‘good’ person.

Also, considering when I was younger I constantly had people calling me gay just because I spent time with my male best friend, seeing people claim two guys are gay just because they have a close relationship does hurt me. This logic led to me being mocked as a kid just for having a friend, now people are doing it thinking they are doing something good when all they are doing is making it seem like men can’t be friends with each other without being gay. Besides being wrong, it also actually does have a negative effect on people, I am a bisexual man and this mindset makes me uncomfortable, it does hurt me. Let men just be friends, let people be friends without just shipping them together, fictional characters are fine as long as you aren’t trying to force it into canon but people are also doing it to real people. You can have your fan fictions, stop trying to make it a reality, make your own stories or support the stories that actually give you the representation you crave. This new bill has been introduced in both the house and the Senate.
Among other things, it will:
Raise the monthly disability income by just over 30 percent - bringing it to poverty level.
Remove penalties for recieving financial help from friends and family.
Increase the amount of assets a disabled person may have from $2,000 to $10,000 (this hasn't been updated since 1989)
Update outside income restrictions to allow disabled people to receive up to $399 a month without reducing their benefits.
REWARD, not penalize, people who want to receive additional income while on social security income.
REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT THIS WILL REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN
For those unaware current regulations do a lot to oppress disabled people. In fact marriage equality doesn't even extend to disbled people who risk having their benefits reduced or outright taken away if they marry someone. This means that in common law states disabled people can't even live with their significant other or they risk losing their financial independence.
Current regulations mean that if you're disbled you can't have so much as one penny over $2,000 to your name. So buying a car and gaining more independence or freedom is largely out of the question for disabled people.
Current regulations penalize social security recipients who receive income from outside sources, even if those sources are reimbursement. Did you get paid to babysit for a few hours? That's income, and you get your benefits reduced. Did you loan a friend $10 and they pay you back? The government considers that $10 income, and you get your benefits reduced.
These aren't mere anecdotes - these are all examples of actual things that have happened to disbled people I know, and if you have any disabled friends in your life I'm sure they can tell you the same stories.
If you value marriage equality, if you value financial independence, if you value the rights of disbled people, please PLEASE support this bill! Contact your reps, vote, and make noise! This is a great thing!

Okay this is something I'm not HUGELY on the ball on, just aware as that this is a thing in advocacy for the disabled. BUT.
If you're on a disability, as in getting financial assistance from the government, you're limited to only having so much money. Period. Like, if you have anything over... I think it's two thousand dollars in the bank?
The government cuts you off. Without recourse. Just shuts off all your benefits and it's very hard to get any of them back.
So the fun fact is! If you're married? your SPOUSE'S assets are considered as part of that.
So if you have a disability and get married, your spouse is expected to pay for everything for you. Period. It's effectively a thing that bans marriage without banning marriage. And it's because of the very weird assumption that aid for the disabled is unnecessary if they have a certain amount of money, where the 'certain' is 'Just above poverty level really'.
I mean in THEORY I suppose it's because they don't want people to get rich off of disability? But nobody's going to fucking do that. The things the government does to stop fraud generally does more harm than the fraud ever could.
People in the online generation get so goddamn weird about Internet Content Creators:tm: as soon as those creators start making any kind of money off their work. This is especially true if the person being weird is one of those backers and therefore "entitled" to being horrible because they've paid $5. And it's completely indistinguishable from the way Boomers treat service workers.

Like I've seen people get so weird about the McElroy content, and how "not-as-good" this that or the other thing is now, and they say this with such justified fury because the McElroys make money. And no, before someone asks this is not apologism for people creating kickstarters and running off with the money. This is about how often a severely bad-faith take or plain cruelty is justified and propagated because the subject under storm is a "professional" on account of being compensated for their work.
I'd so much rather have a faceless corporation sign my paychecks for faceless work until I die than stake my livelihood on creating internet content I'm passionate about. I'd be happy to never receive a single dime from the internet.
