listen to me, this is so so important: you've gotta get used to really giving it your 60% as a default. like don't half-ass it necessarily but try not to go over 70% or so of an ass. you'll feel better and live a happier more fulfilled life, and on the rare occasions where you do need to lock the fuck in you'll be able to pull off bullshit that the sad miserable wretches giving it their 100% can never dream off, because they're busy draining themselves dry and you have energy reserves to spare.
This is actually what I was adviced to do at the work rehabilitation program I went to. Hasn't left my mind since. 10/10 solid advice
you don’t realize how important lunch is until you’re wandering around thinking about how unloveable and untalented and uniquely cursed you are and then it’s 4pm and you finally eat lunch and you go Oh. oh right.
lot of people commenting on this post like "who eats lunch at 4pm that's a terrible time to eat lunch" yes. that is the point. 4pm lunch is inadvisable. 4pm lunch is not the ideal. 4pm lunch makes the mind demons real.

WHAT IS THIS
Yoshimasa Ishibashi was inspired to create The Fuccons after seeing an advertisement where guests at a party had frozen facial expressions, recalling that they were “so fake they made [him] laugh.” Ishibashi opted to use mannequins because he did not want audiences to dismiss the series as a “TV parody” and because the series’ content would feel “too grotesque” if real actors were used. In addition, he did not want the actors’ personalities to influence how the characters were portrayed and wanted the characters to be “completely depersonalized.” Recreating a retro family setting similar to Bewitched, Ishibashi sourced the mannequins from a friend’s warehouse, which originated from Yoshichu Mannequin. He picked fair-skinned, blue-eyed mannequins because the Japanese-looking mannequins had facial expressions that seemed too serious. Before filming, the mannequins would be styled by Ishibashi’s make-up and hairstylist teams while he chose the outfits himself. He claimed that working with mannequins was “weird at first” but later decided that they were “not all that different from live actors.”

historical lifespan discourse from reading this biography but some people have overcompensated from “average lifespan being 35 in xyz era meant that most people died as young adults and it was very unusual to see people live to be elderly” to “average lifespan only reflects a high infant mortality and if you survived childhood you would likely live to be at least seventy”
people absolutely lived into their 70s and 80s regularly in Ye Olden Times. They also died of disease or other natural causes in their 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60s at a significantly higher rate than today. You also see a lot more people dealing with significant health decline and disability in what we would now consider middle age. People in their fifties wouldn’t have been considered on death’s door by any means but they would likely have been considered “old” in a way people that same age aren’t today.
the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.
i was at an event last night in california and i went to the bar to order wine bc wine was like, a thing, and i looked at the menu and saw i was completely out of my depth bc idk any wine names, so i turned to my right and there was a man in a gorgeous suit standing at the bar beside me and i said “do you know anything about wine?” and he said “a little, yes!” i told him i liked white and dry wines and asked if he’d order for me. he asked the server for two glasses and had one poured for each of us and then he clinked his glass on mine but he didn’t take a sip, he just watched me taste mine and then he asked what i thought and i said “it’s pretty good, but like i said, i wouldn’t know.” he laughed and told me to have a good time & i walked away. fifteen minutes later i found out he’s the winemaker.

if you are a tme queer person holding an event, especially a dyke/sapphic one, you need to go out of your way to make sure that the trans women in your community know they are welcome. most of the girls i know assume we’re not.
