Endgame Steve & Bucky

So, when Steve goes back to Peggy to live his life and if he never saves bucky doesn't that mean that bucky would still be missing with the 107th in the base so he would have probably been killed and not layer fallen off of the train which caused his metal arm. What I'm saying is that it means he would never have his metal arm and who knows what they would do with him. Like how can Steve of all people live a perfectly normal life knowing everything that's going on and knowing what he's putting bucky through with when he has the chance to save him.

Okay I've been thinking about this for a long time and does anybody else ever wonder about this from Steve in endgame:

When he went back to go to Peggy what time did he end up entering and why was he old? Like did he go as pre serum Steve? Did he go when that time line steve got stuck in the ice so then no one noticed because if he did that would mean that there would be another Steve in the water... Even if he didn't go then wouldn't there still be another Steve?...

I don't know if this is just me being stupid but can someone please explain.
