Sad...
Sad when on your facebook news feed you see a picture of your friend’s new assault rifle he got for christmas right above a picture of a crime scene in Oakland right outside another friend’s apartment where someone got shot today.
Me, while reading my comments on YouTube.
This is hilarious haha.
You. Must. Vote. (by vlogbrothers)
Mitt Romney insists he's never paid under 13% in taxes, yet after months of campaigning he's still too afraid to release his taxes to the public. Sounds to me like a big fat liar.

Alan Rickman is a badass even when he's making Tea in slow motion.
Listen up Conservatives: According to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, if you make under $500,000 annually, you will actually save more money in taxes under Obama's plan next year than you would under Romney's. In fact, if you make below $200,000, your tax rate will actually INCREASE under Romney. Food for thought.
Let's remember that we should care about people even after they're born.

The overseas trip that Mitt Romney is taking right now has been further proof that he’d be nothing more than a rerun of George W. Bush.
Given recent events, a well-written cover-story in TIME, and a very good bit on Colbert on Monday, I'd like to know, Sir Soeren: What is your opinion on gun control? (Away from Facebook so we can share opinions without angry people!)
I've actually been meaning to post something on this, so thanks for bringing it up Larcy. (:
My stance on gun control is, for the most part, quite the opposite from that of the mainstream Liberal. It seems pretty hypocritical to me that liberals, who usually support the expansion of peoples' rights and freedoms, would support the suppression of the right for citizens to bear arms. As a liberal, I do not wish that any constitutional right, especially one like this whose sole purpose is to allow citizens to have a revolution and overthrow the government if necessary, be taken away from any citizen.
If you don't already know, I am completely against the death penalty, and any sort of killing. And it's definitely true that without guns, killing people would be a lot harder. But the fact that keeps me logically incapable of supporting gun control is that a citizen who illegally kills someone using a weapon is already breaking the law, and making something illegal has absolutely no effect on people with no respect for the law. And since the only reason anyone wants to make guns illegal is to stop criminals from committing violent acts, this idea makes no sense to me at all. If guns were illegal, the people who break the law and murder people would still break the law to get guns, and normal citizens would have no way to protect themselves from the murderers. So it's already a lose-lose situation.
It kind of relates back to my earlier blog post about whether making bad things illegal will actually solve the problems they cause. Just because you believe something is bad and should be suppressed, doesn't mean making it illegal will make it any better. I'm personally against the idea of guns, but people will get them whether they're legal or not. Like I said, I obviously don't support the deaths of citizens, but making guns illegal will create more problems than it will solve, I'm afraid.
As for the regulation of guns, that's a whole different story. Still allowing law-abiding citizens to own weapons, while making it harder for criminals to attain them, is definitely a good idea. Also, as for the ownership of big-boy weapons like .45-Calibur Deagles and Sniper Rifles, I'm not so sure where I stand on that. I think, if anything, you should at least have to pass a series of tests and background checks in order to attain a different license to own them. It's not like you're going to need a Sniper Rifle to defend yourself from an attacker.
But the most irritating thing to me about the mainstream liberal viewpoint on gun control, is the idea that guns kill people. It's very true that millions of people across the globe every year are killed by people with guns. But if you're going to make the weapon itself illegal just because it's used to kill people, then by that logic we should start making everything illegal. Cars run people over, hands choke people to death, airplanes get hijacked and blow up, plastic bags cause suffocation, sexually transmitted diseases result in fatal infections, glass vials can carry poisonous chemicals. Sure, making these things illegal would probably save a few lives per year - and I don't want to downplay that because those lives do matter - but it would really be more beneficial to just work on making those things safer.
I think this is probably the ONLY opinion I have ever had in my life that almost completely aligns with the conservative viewpoint. But to me, this stance seems to be the more logical of the two. I'd like to hear what you think too; let me know!

Why do people think Outlawing bad things will always Fix the problem?
It gives me no joy to say that most Republicans in this country still do not have complex critical thinking skills, because most of them simply assume that when you make a bad thing illegal, it will always just magically solve the problem. And this should come as no surprise to anyone who follows history, because conservatives have had the bad habit of stamping the ILLEGAL sign on every "immoral" thing they see for many years.
Take Prohibition, for example. Angry moms, most of whom were Christian and conservative, didn't want the terrible influences of alcohol affecting their husbands and sons, so they decided in order to fix the problem, they had to make it illegal. Their plan ended up backfiring, and the entire country went into an uproar, forming cartels and gangs to smuggle alcohol into the country, causing even more death and terror than was present during the days when it was legal.
Now, if you look at what we have today, it's almost the same exact thing. There are all of these religious, fundamentalist Republicans running around praising the drug war, screaming about how drugs, prostitution, and abortion should never be legalized, etc. because they believe them to be immoral, while bashing liberals for wanting to make them legal.
The thing these Republicans don't realize is that they and the Democrats are on the same side. Conservatives can't get it through their thick skulls that most Liberals are personally against that stuff too! Whichever way you look at it, Liberals are just normal people; they don't take drugs, they don't pay for hookers, and they don't make a habit of killing their babies. Even with abortion, most liberals are indeed pro-choice and respect the rights of the mother, but that doesn't mean they support the act of getting an abortion, that's absurd and inconceivable.
The only difference between the two parties' opinions is that the Liberal approach to the solution is backed by years of history and research, which shows that legalizing problems, while still instituting some government regulation, fixes problems a lot more effectively than just sending people to jail if they partake in them. Legalizing drugs in America, while taxing them and providing secure facilities for private drug use, would not only introduce a whole new line of revenue for the government, but would also bring an almost immediate end to the drug wars in Mexico, destroy American gangs and stop gang wars, and also provide safer facilities for people to use drugs, thus resulting in a dramatic decrease in death and violence in the entire country. It's just the lesser of two evils, if there was a fix-all approach, we would have already done it.
Legalizing prostitution and abortion would have similar effects. Do you want hookers illegally participating in the underground economy, having unprotected sex with their partners, risking death and disease while being paid untaxed money, or do you want legal prostitutes, who are required to take monthly STD checks, report their incomes to the IRS, and be functioning members of society? And do you want women dumping their babies in trashcans and risking their lives using hangers to stab the fetus to death in their bedrooms, or do you want women paying taxed money to go to secured abortion clinics, where they can be made aware of the serious emotional consequences of an abortion, and take part in a safe procedure?
You see, it's not about whether you think these things are morally right or wrong. I'm sure there were plenty of mothers during the prohibition era who hated alcohol, but were smart enough to realize that outlawing it would only make the problem worse. You just have to realize one thing: people will drink beer, do drugs, have sex for money, and get abortions no matter what; you can only stop a fraction of them by making it illegal. Society would be doing a lot better right now if people realized this simple truth. So, next time you hear one of your Republican friends talk about making drugs, prostitution, or abortion illegal, give them a nice big gulp of "Wake Up" Juice and lay 'em down with a little logic for a change.
Just telling it like it is.
I think they've abandoned reality altogether. I doubt it would surprise anybody if the GOP held a vote soon as to whether the next election should take place on Zygon X15 in the Interstellar Space Rim or Plactonix BK124 in the Nautical Galaxy.
