“bits to use in everyday conversations”
I feel like I need to share this because idk if Europeans are familiar with the presence of Aldi in the US, but at least especially in my area they’ve been growing a lot recently. Like Aldi bought out some local failing grocery chains where I live (Louisiana) and have opened Aldis in all these somewhat rural communities and small towns, which for the record I’m fine with
But as a result of this they are advertising a lot more in my area and also in many cases, the people in these areas have never been confronted with Aldi or any European grocery store. So the ads that Aldi is pushing out to its new US customer base feature a cowboy shopping at Aldi who is explaining to new Aldi customers how Aldi works. Like this cowboy is explaining you gotta put a quarter in the shopping cart and why there are very little name brands. A cowboy is how they want to reach their American customer base. They gave us a cowboy
Here he is, the Aldi Cowboy

Put in the tags the completely finished (whether cancelled or wrapped up on its own terms) TV series that has YOUR perfect ending, however you define that
Please don’t include huge spoilers for the specifics of the endings, and it would also make me happy if people don’t use this to talk about the shows whose endings they hated
honestly my favorite thing about hardison is that he has no real tragic backstory, he's just like "i am very smart and therefore i should be allowed to do crime" and he's entirely correct
i love everyone reblogging this going "yeah! soft boy!" in the tags bc that's my other favorite thing about hardison (i have many) and that's that he's never particularly treated as morally grey bc he is constantly so kind and loving and good and also he enjoys some crime
parker: i have severe psychological trauma and i steal things to cope bc i don't know how to relate to people
eliott: i have a tragic history being entangled in the mafia and even now i could kill the most dangerous fighters without firing a gun
hardison: if money is fake, why not for me and my grandma who i love? :)
Yes!! I love Hardison's orientation towards right and wrong, in part because it's such a fun, powerful contrast with other members of the team.
You have Parker, who has been designated as bad and wrong since she was a very young child and who has let go of any expectation of being anything else, so that identifying and doing what she thinks is the right thing is consistently an overwhelming and scary experience for her;
Then there's Eliot, who can point to exactly when and how he became irredeemable in his own eyes and whose highest ambition now is to do the wrong thing for the right people this time at least;
Nate, who is clinging to all of these ideas about morality and legality and good and bad that are completely inconsistent both internally and with his behavior, because his very normative view of the world was shattered and he never put the pieces back together in any kind of coherent way;
Sophie, who sees right and wrong as primarily about relationships between people, like she does everything else: right and wrong is in how you engage and who you hurt interpersonally, anything more abstract is irrelevant. But within that, there's also this weight to how she engages, this sense of regret at how she's treated people in the past that we never really see the full scope of;
And into this morass of regret and alienation and self-doubt, beautiful sunshine child Alec Hardison sails with this completely coherent, straightforward understanding: he's doing the right thing. He understands the systems creating and maintaining inequality and he's winning against them. He doesn't feel bad at all about breaking the law because he doesn't respect it as having any moral weight, and why should he? He's right. Y'all I love him so much.
Protect black women. Fuck the state of Georgia.
Same Georgia that, last year, kept Adriana Smith’s brain dead body corpse alive because she was 9 weeks pregnant, against her families pleas by the way. They even forced the babies birth date earlier because she was decomposing! As of 2 weeks ago he was finally taken out of NICU but is still to this day, entirely reliant on oxygen, because he can’t breath on his own. And who pays for this? The government and hospital used a dead black womans body for an experiment after all, so of course they’d at LEAST foot the bill right? Just kidding it’s the family that wanted to put their daughter and grandson to rest of course! It’s only $600,000+ USD!
And to those of you who think you’re safe because you’re ready and wanting to start a family so obviously youre not getting an abortion anyway! So what?? Think again!! Because you can now be charged as a “would be killer” for using pain killers during pregnancy because the same ingredient just HAPPENS to also be found in abortion pills!
They literally used these women as experimental test runs for what they can get away with and they’re getting away with it!!
Justice For Alexia Moore and Adriana Smith
I’ve had tumblr for 4 years but some of you bitches have had it for a decade. It’s time to seek penance
wait I’m curious now . Reblog this with how long u’ve been on tumblr for. Dating back to ur oldest blog ever !!!

The most horrifying thing about being a human is that no matter how intelligent you are or how much customer service training you have, nothing will stop you from being the idiot customer on occasion. At some point you won't read a sign or you'll misread a menu or ask the dumbest question a human has ever formed and there is nothing you can do to prevent this. It will happen. Accept it and continue on your way as one of today's dipshit customers.

A favourite headcanon of mine that works for either platonic or pre-relationship Dusteve is that even when they're dating other people, they always seem to end up as each other's plus one.
In my heart I know that Steve rolled up to Robin's Weird Uncle's place in Philly with Dustin riding shotgun. Nancy and Jonathan exchanged glances, silently nominating Robin to be the one to Ask, and Robin elbowed them irritably before calling out, "Uh, hey, buddy, I thought you were bringing Kristin?" Steve, preoccupied unloading the trunk, replied, "What? Oh, yeah, no, she bailed on me. But Henderson's between jobs right now - " (this earned him a theatrical eye roll from Dustin, who was in no way making any attempt to help him with the suitcases) " - so he offered to sub in. You guys don't mind, right?"
And the thing is. For all that they've been through together, Nancy and Jonathan still kind of think of Dustin as a friend of their baby siblings. Like, they love him, they would die for him, but would they hang out with him? For a whole weekend? But then Dustin, wearing an extremely loud t-shirt and a shit eating grin, drapes an arm around each of their shoulders and says, "What's up, guys? I hear we're making a movie?" And Steve's watching him with a frankly sickeningly fond expression, and they're all already here, and what the hell is anyone going to say?
I refuse to believe this did not happen in canon

I think maybe one of the things that is most fun to me about shipping Dustin and Steve when most people see them exclusively as Just Bros is that the fandom landscape is way more interesting than if everyone thought of them as a couple. This is not always the case for best friend ships, sometimes the refusal to see chemistry between them is boring and drives me up the wall, but Steve and Dustin are so goddamn weird and intense about each other, and at least some of the people who see them as Just Bros still care about that relationship above the other relationships on the show. So people come up with these really creative ideas to explore that relationship and there's more diverse possibilities on the table than if everyone were focused on what a romantic endgame between them looks like.
I actually think the real advantage tumblr has over other websites is the ability of "reblogging" to create posts with contributions from multiple users. This allows people to build on others' posts, whether that's derailing them with a terrible joke, drawing the scenario proposed as a comic, answering the question posed originally in lively essay format, or rewriting the previous interaction as a scene in Shakespearean iambic pentameter.
This is also why Tumblr is hard to make profitable. Individual users have relatively little power to create good content. It's interactions between users that actually creates the good content, and therefore, no one involved in the good stuff on Tumblr can really claim to "own" it or be the "creator."
Posts have to navigate through Tumblr to pick up the people that can add to them in a constructive way, and then when users interact, the whole interaction can spread across the website as a new evolution of the content. There's no way to simplify this process.
Theres a whole ecosystem running here. It's not as simple as Creators and Consumers, and you can't simplify it to that. That's not how ART works, let alone posts. There's symbiosis. The users that do the nitrogen fixation aren't the ones photosynthesizing. The detritivores can't also be the predators. The "rappers doing normal shit blog" has a different niche than the person that asks why Lil Wayne has socks on in the jacuzzi, who has a different niche than the person who says "those are his hooves, you bitch!"
It's like bioavailability, you see. The user that responds "Those are his hooves, you bitch" is like a predator on a high trophic level, unable to directly feed on producers, needing primary consumers to convert the post into a form that makes a punch line possible.

Enter THE HOTEL OF THE MINDSCAPE.
HOTEL I think the sole advantage of this place, This hellish, warping, twisted tumbler, Lies buried in collaborative art. When sings again the song, another may The words repeat, and add upon their tale. To make a jest, or illustrate the piece, To answer, mock, or Shakespearificate.
This, too, is why 'tis hard to draw out gold: Thou cannot draw a pail from show'ring rain, Thou cannot catch the desert in a net, And, similar, thou cannot find the source Of so-called "content" when 'tis all around.
When written first, a song begins its life, But not the whole of art it has within -- To breathe the air of life and light and wit It must be shared, improved, attached upon, And then, at last, the multi-headed beast Can reach its full potential in its song.
This place is like a forest, ground to leaf, With bears and fish and bees and trees and worms. 'Tis not the simple "made, and then consumed", For, truly, art 'tis never simply that. There's symbiosis in these darkened woods, There's ebb and flow, the predator and prey: When songs are written of the Little Wayne, And of his hot tub stocking hooves most fine, The gentles here who say "they're hooves, you bitch" Are just as vital as the author's song. Each word in verse is sung by someone new, And in this way, the poem comes to fruit.
For though the wolf who stalks across the heath Takes diff'rent station than the grass beneath, Still, both are needed in this wood we carve, For with no grass for sheep, the wolves would starve.
Enter FALSE PUCHIKO, the CLOWN.
CLOWN 'Tis well and truly said, Madame Hotel, But please consider this riposte: a cock.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
To be quite honest, I enjoyed it immensely.
They actually utilized the weird element they brought back from season 2.
They didn't kill anyone from the main cast. You can argue they killed Eleven, but you can also argue she's alive, and I could write a lot of meta on why I believe the latter, and probably will. Everyone was shown to be living as well as can be expected after such severe trauma.
Our kids were shown hanging up their hats (D&D notebooks) and the next generation was shown sitting down to the table. The adventures will continue even if the heroes retire. They collected and saved the lost lambs like they promised to do, in more ways than one.
They switched tack and returned the villain to a monster from another world instead of a hangry white boy. And they opened the door for the whiny white man to come be redeemed, and he slammed it in their face with a big old fuck you to remain evil. AND Joyce got to physically and at length hack his head off with a fucking axe while almost every single victimized character watched, which was the most satisfying on-screen realization of anything I've ever included in a story.
The end fight absolutely felt like the end fight of a D&D campaign. Took out the sorcerer early, but he came back last minute to save the day. The mage dealing with the familiar while everyone else fought the evil monster. With fire. Nancy, the tank against an impossibly large endgame monster.
I enjoyed the heart to heart conversations that they all had. Loved Steve and Jonathan making up. Loved Will getting an apology from Mike for taking their friendship for granted and basically trashing for a couple seasons in favor of being a self absorbed brat. Loved Mike's growth. Loved everyone sticking by Will (in the 80s!!! In THE 80S!!! Like 10 people showing him they love him after he came out, not just telling him they're cool with it and then acting shitty about it!!). LOVED Dustin's graduation speech. Loved the Wheeler family's growth. Loved every single hug. By god I wanted to hug these characters constantly through the last 5 seasons and they got so many hugs this season. This is a group of people who are so traumatized they're always hugging each other like it's the last thing they will do and to be fair to them it might be. SUCH good hugs. Loved seeing Steve picking up Dustin at college to go on a road trip. "FOR EDDIE" will be in my dreams. I LIKED that the fruity four got their own private ending and clearly cared so so so much about each other, ALL of them. That they're going to work to maintain that friendship even though they've scattered like adults tend to do after highschool. I loved all of fandom's teacher!Steve dreams came true in the wildest fucking way. A little league coach and a sex-ed teacher are you kidding me!! It's perfect.
Like, there were so many, many good moments in the finale. Was it a super great plot? Engh. But they trapped a lot of great characters in it, and filled it with lots of good moments, and that's something. I had FUN with it, which is what counts, to me. I would rather a story be fun than good, if it can only be one.
I know there were people hoping for something different but I also recognize that the writers had a story they wanted to tell, and that they told it without trying to get on anyone's good side about it, and I respect that. Not the story I would have chosen to tell in the first place, but I don't think that makes it bad. I went into this season expecting it to be a lot worse than it was, and while it wasn't perfect, it was pretty decent. It took the show from "a show I will finish watching merely to pull flesh from the bones to use for fanfic" to "yeah I'll probably rewatch this every now and then as a comfort show." Which I didn't think was even possible at this point.
