10 Actually Scary Episodes of Doctor Who for Halloween
Doctor Who is my very favourite show, and as such I have a LOT of opinions about it. I basically think anything can be an excuse to watch Doctor Who, but especially any sort of holiday. However it has been brought to my attention that many people want to watch something actually scary on Halloween. This is utter madness. If you’re going into Doctor Who (or anything) looking for less fun and more…

The very best of Halloween tv for comedy loving grownups. I love the vibes of Halloween, but I’m not huge on actually Being Scared. If you also love the aesthetic but not the fear, you’ve probably noticed that comedy shows Love to lean into Halloween. Or at least, they used to, back when TV shows got to have more than one season and there was room in the budget to do some absolute nonsense. Here…

Dan and Phil are doing Spooky Week and so am I! And this second post is going to be extremely geeky as the good lord (Q) would intend. This post stems from a very important question. Which episodes of Trek are most Halloween appropriate? Also: which star trek show has the most halloween appropriate episodes? Star Trek typically avoids having episodes tied to specific holidays, in part because…

The Life of a Showgirl (for Halloween)
Taylor Swift is back babes! She owns her own music now and this is her first album since she bought it all back. If you don’t know about that already, you should, it has its own Wikipedia page. This is a moderately comprehensive album review of each of the songs from this album, a little of the known background, and my response to some of the…. interesting feedback this album has accrued. It’s…

Scary Songs For Your Halloween Playlist
Multi-genre spooky song recommendations for a Halloween Playlist, from Ariana Grande to Warren Zevan. It’s the first day of the season of Halloween! I have put together a playlist of some of my favourite songs for Spooky Season. I’ve tried to include some songs you probably wouldn’t have heard of, or if you have heard didn’t occur to you as Halloween Tunes. The genres of this playlist are… let’s…
affirmations for writers: i know how to write. i have seen sentences before, and i know how to make one. i can identify up to several words and their meanings. i am not afraid of semicolons.
Like for real I've been wondering this for a while. I'm pretty sure not everyone has a pyjamas for every night of the week and presumably noone is putting worn pyjamas back in the drawer. Where are you guys putting them?? Under pillow?? Just strewn about bedroom???
I think absolutely everyone on this post's pyjama habits are absolutely mental, including my own. Perhaps there is simply no good answer here.
Which Doctor has the Lowest Body Count?
If I had to meet a Doctor (the weirdest way to phrase that. Okay let me try again). If any incarnation of Doctor had to save the Earth, which would I want? The one with the least number of deaths to his name, ideally, so as many people as possible could live – but more specifically, me and the people I care about. I have never claimed to be anything but deeply self-centred. My numbers, for…

27 (Wedding Guest) Dresses - the hunt for the perfect wedding guest dress
'One of my all time favourite people is getting married this year and ever since she first got engaged I have spent all my time thinking about what I am going to wear.
This may sound supremely selfish, but I am someone who feels a lot of anxiety about being dressed appropriately and not standing out too much...
It turns out there are a lot more choices involved in picking the perfect wedding guest dress than I had first thought. And here is where we turn to the guiding light in these times: the 2008 romcom classic 27 Dresses.'
Do you ever look at someone and wonder -
WHAT is going on inside their head? Or, more specifically, do you ever look at YOURSELF and wonder what could possibly be going through your own?? I could have sworn this blog was FULL of book reviews, and also that I had updated way more recently, but here we are! In the real world! Where I have just checked through my tagged posts to find out that I was deeply wring about both of those…
Buffy the Vampire Slayer | 4x12: A New Man
what are you guys’ most “tumblr is a website” moments
off to a great start everyone
i’ve been reading the tags all day i truly cannot pick a favorite so here’s more
I made these as a way to compile all the geographical vocabulary that I thought was useful and interesting for writers. Some descriptors share categories, and some are simplified, but for the most part everything is in its proper place. Not all the words are as useable as others, and some might take tricky wording to pull off, but I hope these prove useful to all you writers out there!

Oh, that’s very helpful indeed!
Writing Tips
Punctuating Dialogue
✧
➸ “This is a sentence.”
➸ “This is a sentence with a dialogue tag at the end,” she said.
➸ “This,” he said, “is a sentence split by a dialogue tag.”
➸ “This is a sentence,” she said. “This is a new sentence. New sentences are capitalized.”
➸ “This is a sentence followed by an action.” He stood. “They are separate sentences because he did not speak by standing.”
➸ She said, “Use a comma to introduce dialogue. The quote is capitalized when the dialogue tag is at the beginning.”
➸ “Use a comma when a dialogue tag follows a quote,” he said.
“Unless there is a question mark?” she asked.
“Or an exclamation point!” he answered. “The dialogue tag still remains uncapitalized because it’s not truly the end of the sentence.”
➸ “Periods and commas should be inside closing quotations.”
➸ “Hey!” she shouted, “Sometimes exclamation points are inside quotations.”
However, if it’s not dialogue exclamation points can also be “outside”!
➸ “Does this apply to question marks too?” he asked.
If it’s not dialogue, can question marks be “outside”? (Yes, they can.)
➸ “This applies to dashes too. Inside quotations dashes typically express—“
“Interruption” — but there are situations dashes may be outside.
➸ “You’ll notice that exclamation marks, question marks, and dashes do not have a comma after them. Ellipses don’t have a comma after them either…” she said.
➸ “My teacher said, ‘Use single quotation marks when quoting within dialogue.’”
➸ “Use paragraph breaks to indicate a new speaker,” he said.
“The readers will know it’s someone else speaking.”
➸ “If it’s the same speaker but different paragraph, keep the closing quotation off.
“This shows it’s the same character continuing to speak.”
omg this is so helpful
