Hot take:

Religious trauma is real, and stories about it absolutely have a place. But I’d love to see more stories where a character realizes the harmful version of Christianity they were taught isn’t the same as Christ.

Give me characters who deconstruct abuse instead of faith.

Give me characters who discover a deeper, kinder, more compassionate Christianity.

Give me doctors, teachers, farmers, artists, scientists, and ordinary people who see their work as their vocation.

Give me faith rooted in love instead of fear.

Not every Christian character’s happy ending has to be walking away from God. Sometimes it’s finally meeting the God they were searching for all along.

AU Idea / Fic Idea

X-Men AU where Bobby Drake, Pietro Maximoff, and Kurt Wagner start a mutant faction with one rule:

Stop turning children into soldiers.

Bobby was abused by Xavier.

Pietro spent his life chasing Magneto’s approval.

Kurt was abandoned and manipulated by Mystique.

So they look at the endless war between mutant factions and go:

“Why are all of you recruiting teenagers?”

Their organization, called Haven, doesn’t train child soldiers, send kids on missions, or use minors as spies.

They just provide food, housing, education, therapy, and protection.

Somehow it’s the most revolutionary thing any mutant has ever done. 💀

I think it’s odd how many canonically religious characters are head canoned with religious trauma. I understand people like to project onto their favorites, but sometimes I can’t help but think, “can someone please let this character be held by their faith instead of harmed by it for once?”

Opposite:

Kai and Zane are hot and cold, summer and winter, the sun and the moon. They are literally yin and yang, perfect balance! They bring out the greatest qualities in each other and have been shown time and time again to deeply care for one another. For Kai, a character who has had to be self-sufficient to survive, it's nearly effortless to depend on Zane. He becomes so quickly intertwined with Zane that losing him guts him, showing how strong his love is. Zane, a character who struggles with emotions and defaults to logic, often takes cues from Kai on appropriate reactions to certain situations. Not only does he hear what Kai has to say, but he sincerely values his sentiments and often integrates Kai’s convictions into his own. Despite what may seem like superficial differences in personality, the basis of their personalities both stem from protecting each other and their family, sometimes almost to a fault. Together, they help each other be the best version of themselves; to be everything the other needs by their side, even if they don’t know it. Plus, there's no pairing more classic than fire and ice, right?

Greenflower -

The reason why I like this ship over many Lloyd ones, and why I try to convince others on it, is that it touches on Lloyd's... human side. It gives him a character beyond the legendary green ninja he portrays himself as and it further encompasses elements of his character that the show could've touched more on (re: his past in Darkley's School for Bad Boys, for example!). Along with that, you get Brad, who has a little bit of a snarky silly personality shown through his brief screentime that I've found you can do a LOT with (with one's own additions), even independent from Lloyd, and with both of them fleshed out, you get the most amazing rarepair soup you'll encounter around these parts!

Re-watching Digimon Adventure 02: the beginning, it’s got me thinking. It’s the reason why Tai and Kari met the Koromon that they met in the original movie because of Ukkamon’s promise Rui? Did he purposefully bring the Koromon to the real world so that Digidestined could happen? So that he could have friends from all around the world like he wished for? If not, it’s a little odd that they call Rui the first Digidestined because in the original Digimon Adventure 01 the 8 or the original Digidestined. Weren’t they?
