This is super dumb but it did great on TikTok so I thought I’d post it here too lol
First and last camp fam hug😭
Imagine an AU where Kenji is, in a way, a figure skating sensation, while Ben is a forward on a modest hockey team.
Kenji adored figure skating. At first, though, things didn’t go smoothly — he’d end up with bruises and injuries, or fail to meet his coach’s and father’s expectations. Yet his persistence and the desire to show his father he was more than just a promising startup helped Kenji reach significant heights and earn a certain title in this sport.
During a competition, while performing the short program, Kenji makes a mistake on one of the jumps. Sadly, this error cost him first place.
Only a couple of weeks have passed since then. The sting of that humiliating defeat still pains Kenji, but he’s learned from his experiences and knows the important thing is to keep moving forward. Fortunately, his father sends him to a sporting event to receive an award for his achievements from the previous year. Everything goes well until journalists start bombarding Kenji with questions about his recent loss. Unable to handle it, Kenji flees.
While avoiding the media, Kenji runs into an old school friend who has grown in every way imaginable. Contrary to Kenji’s memories, Ben is no longer a scrawny little kid afraid of his own shadow — he’s now a broad-shouldered giant Kenji can barely look eye to eye with. They strike up a conversation and exchange contact information.
Their friendship flows naturally. They meet at a café a couple of times a week, catching up on the latest news in various areas. One day, Kenji even manages to get Ben onto the ice and make him try out some basic figure skating moves. It wasn’t as graceful as Kenji would have done it, but he appreciated the hockey player’s effort. Over time, both of them realize a warm feeling has taken root in their hearts, but neither of them confesses, fearing for their reputations. 😉🤭
Happy pride month!!! Here are some Camp Cretaceous head cannons!
Yaz was in Texas for something when they all got back home, so she went to Sammy’s ranch for the first time. She was so nervous to meet her girlfriend’s family, but before she even knocked on the door Mr. and Mrs. Gutierrez ran out and practically tackled her in a hug and Yaz realized that Sammy’s entire family was just like her: welcoming and kind and amazing.
One time they were all playing Cards Against Humanity and Kenji mispronounced a word so horrifically that the group bullied him for the rest of the game. To this day, someone will randomly text him/the group chat “do you remember when Kenji couldn’t say ‘Lithuania?’”
Brooklynn had a secret TikTok account where she made edits of shows/movies she liked (mainly Hunger Games)
Kenji would never admit it but he LOVES the Twilight movies. He made Yaz watch them one time and now she also secretly likes them
Kenji found out that Build-A-Bear had dinosaur stuffed animals, so he went and made Ben an ankylosaurus, Ben teared up a little when Kenji gave it to him
They have like 100 different group chats for random shit with any combination of them. Yaz, Sammy, and Ben’s is titled either “a tricycle needs a third wheel” or “two girls and their son.” Kenji named the gc with him, Darius, and Ben “the boyz r back.”
When they got their settlement money from Jurassic World after filing the biggest lawsuits ever, they all took a trip to Disney World, they avoided Animal Kingdom for obvious reasons
Darius packed up every dinosaur toy/stuffed animal in his room when he got back home except for the last one his dad ever bought him
About ten years after everything (CC and Chaos Theory) someone approached them and asked to write a book about what happened to them. Everyone agreed and pretty much used it as a way to reminisce and tell stories about their time on the island and on their adventures in Chaos Theory. It became a bestseller
It's extremely important to me that all Benji shippers or lovers of their friendship know that the scene with Kenji and Ben in the helicopter was changed slightly during production. Kenji originally put Ben's beanie up to his mouth but instead we got KENJI KISSING BEN'S HAND. PERFECTION. EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU ANIMATORS!!
And special thanks to @bagiesupreme for this wonderful fun fact!! I've attached a screenshot of their comment!
really love how camp cretaceous and chaos theory both let their characters have big, emotional, and sometimes ugly responses to all the horrific shit they’ve been through
it’s honestly so nice to see well-rounded, fleshed out emotions in characters, especially in a kids show. I love realistic depictions of grief, ptsd, anxiety, and the most disregulated nervous systems ever known to man
and I love that they make bad decisions! They let their emotions get the best of them, they get consequences for it, they act so human and it’s lovely to see
I don’t know what purpose this serves but here’s Ben getting stabbed
