Li Yu The Stressball was the first art I did for this fandom, and I've been wanting to fix it up basically since I drew it! Now that I have an actual consistent style for Li Yu I decided it was finally the time 💪🐟

Honestly this was the scene when I realised I was really going to love this series. They're learning to communicate! Like!!! the entire theme of the book hinges on communication, especially since both characters are seriously limited in their abilities to communicate in conventional ways, and this is when you really see that they're able to communicate with each other despite that, just because they're willing to put in the effort.

Li Yu is able to understand Prince Jing's stress, because Prince Jing is definitely communicating it despite not verbalizing it. Li Yu is then able to communicate what he does and doesn't like, and Prince Jing is able to understand him and change his behaviour once he realises that he's hurting his pet. It's cute! And silly! And very perfectly sums up the vibe of this series! Ahh!
