I have a lot of different interests, positions and beliefs. I'm sick of compartmentalizing myself. This blog must be holistic as part of my self care. I realize you might be interested in some things I post about but not all and I respect that. I am a young Canadian woman of French descent.
I'm a radical feminist, libertarian market socialist and eco-futurist. I don't support capitalism but I think a market system is more efficient than central planning. Anything other than democratic workplaces should not exist. I care a lot about many social and political issues.
I am a Pagan and have been interested in it since I was a preteen. I have the great blessing of being raised secular in a country with less Christian fundies than the US. This have given me no shame, fear and guilt baggage to struggle with on my path. I thank the Gods for this.
I am disabled and professionally DXed with CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), which I prefer by it's newer acronym SEID (Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease), NVLD (Non-verbal learning disability) which means similar to autistics I have some trouble with social cues and personally my brain has a hard time processing visual information, particularly in mathematical and measured forms like graphs, tables, charts, maps, numbers and math etc. I have OCD too.
I find self-DXing really problematic. There are a lot of people on Tumblr faking illnesses including rare conditions like DID. I have dealt with poverty my whole life so I understand the socioeconomic issues of why someone may have to do that. But it's still problematic - the amount of people speaking for the disabled and chronically ill who really only suffer from Münchhausen Syndrome.
I love to read and learn. I am bisexual but in a committed het relationship and have never had a sexual experience with another female.
I have lots of controversial opinions which gets me hella flack on the internuts. These include topics like:
Disability Rights: I'm against euthanasia and assisted suicide because I think it's an inherently ableist practice that endangers the lives of people like me.
I support environmentalism but I find it is infected with intense ableism. One easy example of this is #OrangeGate and the whole crusade against single use plastics. Single use plastics are frankly an accessible innovation. They keep many of us; who are too fatigued or unable to cook or cut fruit and veggies easily or without assistance, independent.
It's sad recycling has been abandoned by pop-environmentalism. There are companies like TerraCycle that can recycle virtually any kind of waste. If everyone had access to their services, I think it would be a less classist and ableist way to achieve a zero waste future.
Reusable products are expensive and labour intensive. Not everyone can afford the investment in reusables even if it would pay off in the end (not include labour spent on keeping it clean and functional). I think the whole world should recycle every piece of garbage - except for biohazards which must be burned. It is technically possible just not profitable. But it is our human right to not live in a garbage dump and the right of other living beings and ecosystems to have their home and autonomy.
I am hopeful for a carbon-free energy future but I think most current clean sources of power are inefficient. I think it's a waste of money to use them currently most of the time but I believe clean energy is the future. It's just not capable of supporting us all now despite environmentalists who claim it can completely replace conventional forms of energy. I think there is hope in nuclear energy as well despite the troubled past. It is carbon free and has strong output.
Feminism: This shouldn't even need to be stated but many idiots on Tumblr are claiming to be radfem but not x. I am a radfem. I'm against the sex industry. I do not see punters are innocent "clients". I hate terms by third wave feminists like "sex worker" and "client" meant to sanitize the reality of the sex industry being a form of violence against women. Also to some degree is violence against other oppressed groups as well.
I am gender critical. I think gender roles and heterosexuality were ultimately inventions of the patriarchy, not something natural and inherent to women. I'm pro-choice on birth control and abortion. I don't think a male should have any say in that decision.
Paganism and Spirituality: I am a Celtic polytheist, an ethnic polytheist and a hard polytheist which means I don't think the Gods are archetypes or thoughtforms that exist because of humans. I think worshiping Gods not of your own blood and syncretism is wrong most of the time.
I am anti-imperialist; politically but also spiritually. I support a true diversity; that is one of indigenism, where everyone has their own tribe and that tribe is interconnected to a piece of land, with it's own local cults and traditions. I am no supporter of nationalism but I do believe in regionalism as it is part of indigenism.
I see bi and multi-racial people as a negative. They are a symptom of the death of true diversity. The beauty of nature where "races" and peoples have been shaped so strongly by the lands they live with is beautiful. It literally determined many of their features such as hair colour, texture, eye shape, oxygen processing etc.
I don't feel I should need to clarify this but I don't believe in "race realism", the idea that some races are better, smarter etc. than others. I think the diversity of the world is sacred and beautiful as much as ecological biodiversity. The concept of race itself is a colonial construct which I only use when required but do not believe in it ideologically. I am ANTI-monotheism... ALWAYS, even for Dianic Wicca.
Guns and Free Expression:
Something I agree with right wingers with for what they would consider the absolute wrong reasons. I'm pro-gun because I don't believe in giving the police and military; two racist and corrupt institutions, ultimate power by monopolizing access to guns.
Leftism was traditionally pro-gun and to be a radical leftist even now I believe it is a requirement. Marx said gun control is reactionary. The workers and citizens have a right to be armed and to self defense. Getting more people from marginalized classes gun training is a very positive thing in my view. I love and support groups like the Pink Pistols that shoot back against "fagbashers" and homophobes.
Unlike many people in the modern social justice movement I am not a fan of censorship. It always ends up hurting the marginalized despite claiming to prevent that. Hate speech laws ironically end up empowering those in power like men in the name of transgender rights.
I used to think hate speech was something to feasibly control but I don't think that anymore. I have seen so many brilliant radical feminists silenced in the name of "muh hate speech". Anti-censorship actually empowers radical movements on the left and that is good. Without it Marxists could all be arrested for "bigotry against people of wealth" or some stupid shit like that.
Death: I am interested in the death positive movement. I love the Ask A Mortician Youtube channel. I have wanted to be a mortician since I was in my mid-teens. I don't believe in every single thing promoted as they do though. They have a fetish for the impermanence of the corpse while I appreciate the value of corpse preservation. Being a polytheist, I know mummification and permanent forms of body preservation are part of some polytheist and indigenous societies - which are the only legitimate societies in my view.
Most people think that modern formalin embalming preserves corpses permanently or for a long time but that is actually false. It only delays decay for around a month and a body in a conventional burial will turn to green sludge eventually.
I very much support the #deathpos movement advocating for more natural burials grounds, access to aquamation and home funerals. I think everyone should have as much choice as possible for their dead body that fits with their own personal spiritual path. I hope one day there will be a modern form of corpse preservation that is non-toxic. Researchers have succeeded in making shellac mummies. But it's not a commercial burial option, lol.
Science: I am against pseudoscience and quackery because I think it is exploitative and ableist. It takes advantage of sick people desperate to be cured. The whole anti-vax thing is full of ableism against autistics. Quackery really affected my OCD in a bad way for most of my childhood and teenagehood.
Only when I found the online skeptic movement (not the anti-SJW dummies on Youtube, I mean the ones who debunk quackery) was I liberated from some of my harmful obsessions. I think some supplements and herbs, massage, yoga, meditation and aromatherapy can have benefit but homeopathy, chiropractic, colonics, "detoxing", organic food and anti-GMO, acupuncture and many more are complete bullshit.
