Harris gets the idea to do a video asking the team popular questions they get from comments. I think about the line from The Lord of the Rings about elves being able to conjure images in their songs. I’m imagining the ways the teaching of Ulmo could add to this. Telerin songs conjuring not only images of the ocean but the scent of salt and sandwood, the feel of foam flickering upon the skin. The crashing sounds of waves. The strange lights of deep sea creatures rising like lanterns in the night.

In The Silmarillion after the destruction of the Two Trees, in the horror and darkness, the songs of the Teleri could be heard like the cry of gulls. A warmth woven in the darkness from entwined hands and melodies.

The kinslaying never sung of, even in mourning, in fear that the power in their music would transport the singer and audience back to the blood and chaos and horror.

So here's that thought I mentioned: I've seen valet used a lot in fics for Baelor's male servant (shout out to my fave, Errol, the legend) but may I suggest going for the more traditional "manservant", firstly for aesthetic purposes (being slightly more in world than the french term I think), but also because the term of address commonly used for manservant is "my/your man"

I think you can see where I'm going with this

Crack AU time. Dunk's reborn as Ned Stark's second son somewhere between Sansa and Arya. Growing up it became pretty obvious that despite being the spare, he's not exactly fit to rule. Not because he's cruel or dumb or anything, but because it just doesn't suit him well. He's far too kind and soft, doesn't really understand the political game and while he's able to endear himself incredibly quickly to people he doesn't know how to use this. He loves his family and his home and they love him too. Yet everyone silently agrees to pray that nothing ever happens to Robb and that Dunk can be his right-hand man like he was obviously born to be.

Ned then proceeds to make the fatal mistake of mentioning the struggles with his second son in a letter to his old friend King Robert who- seeing issues with his own kid Joffrey and lowkey kind of projecting -immideatly comes up with the idea to send Dunk as a ward to Kingslanding to be raised alongside his own heir. Ned despises the thought but can't do anything when Robert just keeps on insisting and hounding him. Even the excuse of "oh I need to keep him here because I only have two sons in case smth's up with my heir" loses potency in the face of Bran and later Rickon. Right up until he's forced to send off little Dunk to be raised at court, praying to every god he knows his boy will be fine.

It takes roughly one moon after seeing his son off for the message to arrive that apparently, his kid decided to clout Joffrey the day he arrived.

Another two moons later and Winterfell is flooded with letters of Robert singing Dunk's praises for "finally shaping up that boy" and "teaching him how a real man should behave"!
