Batman owed Steph his secret identity the second he told her abusive, criminal father what HER secret identity was.

Batman owed her his secret identity when he told her Tim's identity while continuing to refuse to share his own.

Batman owed her the knowledge of his undercover aliases & this was even called out in canon itself when he agreed to letting her be Robin. That's not even his secret identity.

I don't think it makes any goddamned sense to have Robin not know your identity but I digress. There are reasons he should have given her his secret identity, but knowing his secret identity wouldn't have saved her, knowing about his secret mob oc persona whose identity he stole years ago would.

i mean, and this is in no way trying to disagree with any of the above points, there is an interesting argument for tim being a batgirl.

While not literally a batgirl tim drakes robin goes on a lot more solo adventures which narratively puts him on similar footing to the batgirls. At the time all the other robins, dick or jason, mostly did partner stuff with batman or team stuff with the titans. To my knowledge tim is the first robin to have a solo run.

Contrarianism over the best batgirl is obviously cass.
