The worst part is that this straw was most likely made for oral motor disabilities where the usual straw position would be difficult to use due to not being able to generate proper suction for any number of reasons. And it was co-opted by this “anti-aging” bullshit. Everyone in the notes saying you’d smack someone you saw using this— I understand the frustration about it in this instance but don’t make assumptions about anyone you’d actually see using it. There are legitimate uses for this outside of the harmful industry that stole it.

apparently this morning my wife heard me make a noise in my sleep and she asked me if i was okay and i just responded with "yeah, i'm just pissed off" and promptly fell asleep again. like i was dead asleep and just fucking hating still i guess. the grind never stops

kids these days who are fans of fall out boy and can just read the lyrics on spotify or whatever. do you know how lucky you are. when i was a lad you listened to an illegally burnt cd, heard a nonsensical string of syllables, and listened to it 100 times until you thought you know what was said. and then you got ahold of an album sleeve with lyrics and read the lyrics. and realise you were absolutely nowhere close.

One of the most life-changing things I ever learned came from Mythbusters, where they tested and proved (with cognitive testing puzzles and reaction time tests) that lying down and resting with the intention to sleep STILL provided significant mental benefits over just staying awake, even if a person couldn’t fall asleep in the amount of time they had.

It helps me to actually sleep to know that just lying down with my eyes closed is still doing me some good, and helps me to not freak out/beat myself up when I stay up later than intended. Any amount of rest is better than no rest!

So if you didn’t know that…now you do

For the record Nova is a clouded leopard, not an African one. They weigh about 30 pounds and are not very aggressive or considered a serious danger to humans. Probably best known by this meme:

Someone cut a hole in her enclosure (or at least that’s what it looks like) and they found her about seven hours later in the nearby trees, safe and sound.
