I really like the show but I can respect anybody who doesn’t- if they were not so malicious about it..
I get that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but celebrating the cancellation of something that means a safe haven , a distraction from all that’s going on right now, or just a fun show for a lot of people? And let’s not forget there are REAL people behind this show. They worked insane hours, dedicated their hearts to it and found new friends within this production - so to bash this is so disgusting.
You didn’t and still don’t like this show ? Fine ! But please , please have a bare minimum of decorum and respect these people’s work.
fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”
if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.
Post-canon Cardassia pre-Garashir, Garak tries to get Julian to stay on Cardassia (forever hopefully) by making tennis into a popular pastime, like baseball on Bajor. It’s a very poorly hidden attempt, all things considered (who else would even KNOW about tennis), but Julian melts a little inside anyways (That’s a lie he melts a lot)(and not even just because of the heat)
I think it's because the show in general was really darkish (like the lightning), but only just now I realised that in the ST Picard finale Data's not wearing uniform. He's got civilian clothing
And this is the same guy who in TNG wore his uniform to sleep

Over the years, I have read many stories where Lore was told as a villain, the devious android with a ploy or the irresistible bad boy—and believe me, such stories remain the very best I have ever read—yet, I wished to write him in a more… earnest light, to explore his character and sort through his complexities.
And so, a few weeks ago, I found a certain post from @psybrepunk, reimagining the emotion chip as a 'sensation chip'.
Here, from the post in question, they conceptualized how the chip would allow enjoyment—a satisfying appreciation for bodily pleasures and the capacity for emotional intimacy. And so, after reading such genius, I later pondered how—since Lore stole the chip before Data could use it—that Lore would have experienced such jarring, waves of emotion… alone.
So, for the setting of this story, I placed him in an environment far from civilization—far from his father's judgement, and far from his brother's presence. He is alone, and for the first time, has the chance to reflect on his life.
He ponders on his sins, remembers his unkindness. He now knows the uneasiness of guilt, the regret that lingers afterward. He mourns for the death of his father, the life he could have had with a brother, and feels shame for the anger he has long since harbored. He remembers the colonists, his father—how they thought him too perfect or how his father thought him too flawed. He remembers the confusion, the resentment that festered—but most of all, Lore remembers the pain of never meeting their expectation... of never being adored like his younger brother.
He begins to wish for a better life, a change in direction or a new charted course. He even thinks about settling here, on some alien world—distant from everything he has ever known.
All the while, he seeks refuge in an old temple—never knowing who was once worshipped within these halls now overgrown with ivy.
Perhaps, the only person who could ever understand him, forgive him for his past and love him through his stubbornness… is a goddess who knows both the pain from neglect and judgment.

rewatching star trek tng ‘night terrors’ and one thing i really love is how even when the crew is slowly descending into sleep-deprived paranoia and anger, they never stop trusting data. he’s the only member of the crew who can’t suffer any ill effects from their situation, and any of them could’ve easily made the leap that he can’t be trusted because of that, that he might be in league with whoever or whatever is responsible for their being stranded, but they never turn on him or even entertain the notion. he’s their trusty emotional support android and i love that for them and him❤️
