cis people will say āI found out Iām having a baby girl at my anatomy scan and Iām experiencing gender disappointmentā but be mad when you say āwho knows? maybe youāll end up with a son anywayā
they found this post and theyāre very very in their feelings about it
Cis people will basically just sag āIām sexistā and you say āmaybe you donāt have to beā and they say āwell now Iām gonna be transphobic tooā
insanely good takes from @sixamese-simblr that shouldn't be hidden in the reply
This post is indistinguishable from one made in 2012
At least brush and floss your teeth if you're not gonna sleep.
I'm terrified of speaking to people in real life because one of them could say "I'm a chuckster!" and just hurtle me three hundred feet up in the air
i will give tiktok one concession and that is that it has spawned a comment that contains a phrase that i think of often at relevant moments: pack it up boys we've made a social blunder
(from a video featuring someone's father/grandfather)
is anyone else reading "pack it up boys we've made a social blunder" in the voice of the lead penguin guy from Madagascar
that is exactly my point of view. if all people were given universal basic income, we could have tens of thousands of boring, tedious, dangerous, and long term harmful jobs done by robots, while humans are free to explore their passions without fear of poverty and homelessness.
in a good society, automation means a boom in the arts. language, painting, music, dance, writing, philosophy, architecture, etc. these are the sectors that advance tremendously during periods of human health and flourishing
Back in the 1960s, we were told that automation and rising productivity would mean shorter work weeks with higher pay. Instead we have multibillionaires, growing poverty, and crumbling infrastructure. The money is all there, itās just being hoarded.

This had me audibly cackling in the office

Something that I first applied to working with children, and have applied in a limited form to working with adults: you don't need to tell someone when they read your instructions wrong. Sometimes it's enough to point out what they did right and then whatever they didn't do? You ask them to do it in more precise words, and you make it sound like it's a new request. Remarkable how fast things get done this way.
This is also a habit I built up from emergency response training. If I say "I need you to bring me a first aid kit and an accident report" and you bring me just a first aid kit, it's so much more efficient to say "thanks now can you bring me an accident report" than "I asked you to bring an accident report why didn't you bring me one".
Once you've internalized "a person bleeding out is one of the worst times to start an argument" you start to wonder what other tasks could get accomplished without arguing
I sorta love EMTs sometimes, they're focused on results in a way many people are not.
Man, everyone should be. "What other tasks could get accomplished without arguing" indeed!
when i used to train line cooks, there almost always came a point where i would have to tell them something like
"hey, we all know Mark should have put "no mushrooms" on the ticket, you know that, i know that, and believe it or not, Mark knows that too. But let me ask you something. After you go find Mark and shake the ticket at him and tell him about how he should have put "no mushrooms" on the order... do you still have to remake the order? Yes. And when is something like that most likely to A: happen and B: make you the most upset -- is it in the middle of when you are both at your busiest? Yes. So wouldn't it save you both the most time and aggravation if instead you just said 'okay' and remade the dish to begin with? Again yes."
and usually they would say something like "but how will they learn not to do that" and "didn't you tell me feedback was important for teamwork" and i would tell them
"try this. If you get to the end of the shift and something is standing out about how a server effected your job, THEN maybe it's worth it to go up to them, when neither of you are busy, when you're not in the heat of the moment, and say something like hey mark tonight you forgot to put special instructions on several of your tickets and it made my job harder than it had to be, can you please work on that for me... and mark is probably going to remember that every time he made a mistake and had to ask you to remake a dish you just said 'okay' and got him his remake, and he's going to feel motivated to try to make that effort for you. But nine times out of ten you're going to get to the end of your shift and realize that it only happened once or twice, and that everybody including you makes a couple mistakes each night, and it's not going to feel worth your time to have a talk with him about it, and that's how you'll know it was never worth it to point his mistake out to him in the first place."
Merry, berry and bright!!

You own the home you live in. The last owners painted the walls of your bedroom a horrible off white.
You fucking hate it. Every day you wake up to off-white walls and off-white ceilings and pass through your off-white door to get to the rest of the house. You feel like you've been locked up in a padded room. It makes you want to die.
So what is there to do? Well, you own the home. Go out and get some paint, a roller or two, and a drop cloth. If the color makes you want to kill yourself, you should obviously change it.
But what if you didn't hate it. What if it just mildly perturbed you? Or maybe what if you didn't, like, reeeeeally mind it all that much, but you knew that another color would make you a lot happier? Does the decision that you come to change?
Sure, it's work moving the furniture out, setting up, painting, making sure you get the edges, cleaning up, letting it all dry, etc, but isn't adding joy to your life worth the effort? Don't you owe it to yourself to subtract mediocrity and add happiness? Do you need to be miserable to envision a better life?
Anyway all that to say go start those hormones. You don't have to hate yourself to think of a happier life
youtube is pulling this bullshit again
praying for the firefox gods to save me once more...
I just fixed this for me!
I use Ublock Origins (and recommend). Once you have it go to Settings and then Filter lists
Scroll down and expand the Built In option. Then uncheck the "quick fixes"
Apply changes and reload your youtube page!
Not sure how long this work around will function so time stamping to 12/20/24 ~4pm EST
Yup I found this on a reddit thread shortly after I posted and it worked for me. Reblogging to raise visibility.
