Some of you guys have never burned a CD and it shows
Some of you guys don't even realise I don't mean setting a CD on fire
we need to make using chatgpt embarrassing bc sorry it really is. what do you mean you can’t write an email
Because I remember disinformation being spread around the last few elections and I’m sure assholes will bring it back:
YOU CAN’T VOTE ONLINE.
YOU CAN’T VOTE FROM YOUR PHONE.
IN MANY STATES THERE ARE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR BALLOT.
DO NOT WEAR CAMPAIGN GEAR TO THE POLLS.
DO NOT TRY TO PERSUADE PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE AT THE POLLS.
DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY KIND OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AT THE POLLS.
NO ELECTION IS EVER A SURE THING, EVEN IF YOU’RE IN THE BLUEST OR REDDEST OF STATES. IF SOMEONE TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN SIT THIS ONE OUT, THEY ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR MALICIOUS.
VOTE.
YOU CAN GET YOUR PHONE OUT IN THE POLLS
YOU CAN'T TAKE PICTURES
BUT YOU CAN LOOK UP WHATEVER YOU WANT
LOOK PEOPLE AND POSITIONS UP IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE, WHAT THEY STAND FOR, OR WHAT THE POSITION IS
VOTE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BALLOT
LOCAL ELECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT TOO
Imagining trying to explain to my 12-year-old self that John Green is your favorite non-fiction author and Hank Green is your favorite fiction author
Not only that, but John Green abandoned writing YA novels in favor of selling coffee because being an unpaid coffee company intern turns out to be (quite literally!) a more efficient way to raise money to strengthen impoverished healthcare systems.
I simply can't afford to quit on the idea that human life can change for the better.
Going from being an introverted lurker on reddit to trying to post my own stuff here is so wild. I keep typing out a post, deleting it, then retyping because I think it's not good enough but then I look at other posts and why am I so worried?
It's like I'm at a fancy Italian restaurant and keep glancing around the room to see which hand people use to pick up the forks. But then I realize that everyone is shoveling spaghetti into their mouths using their bare hands and I'm like ah okay so I'm clearly overthinking this
This restaurant is absolute chaos and I'm giving it 5 stars
so much could have been improved in the sequels if kylo ren hadn’t been force sensitive
no wait think about it. kylo ren not being force sensitive, but so desperate to be so he’s willing to do anything. he feels cheated out of his grand destiny, his powers that his mother and uncle (and cousin?) have. give me the story on the entitlement towards the force. it would have shown that the force is beyond biological, it always has been. it would have given a better reason for kylo ren to “fall to the dark side”, so desperate for a connection to the force that he plays the part of a dark sider, swinging a cracking red lightsaber around with no finesse or training, killing hoping that it will push him further into a dark side of the force he cannot feel. it would have given a reason for him to hate han; that because han isn’t force sensitive, it’s his fault that kylo isn’t either. kylo’s character would have been stronger because his choices would have been his own, instead of whatever whisper dream manipulations they were in canon. his evil has nothing to do with the force, but an entitled man trying to claim a power he believes is his by birthright.
this would have foiled perfectly with finn, too- one is a child born to the most powerful force sensitives in the galaxy who cannot feel the force. and finn is a child who was taken from his family, forced into soldier-hood, who feels such a deep and powerful connection to himself and the force that he breaks free. kylo ren, seething and entitled trying to claim a destiny and power that just aren’t his, and finn, who has suffered at kylo’s actions and still connected to the powerful light inside of him. the “nobody” hero of the sequels who has the power of the force and the legacy-born villain who doesn’t.
reylos are not allowed to touch this post btw

i think everyone should be sillier. i think life would be better that way. i used a marker pen to change the label on the oat milk so that it says boat milk and now i crack up laughing every time i open the fridge
Yet they can still somehow afford to pay tremendous shareholder dividends. And when they get government aid, they give it to their higher-up executives while continuing to screw over the rank and file workers. Funny how hardly anyone shames companies like Kroger for taking government aid in the form of tax breaks for the purpose of giving more money to execs and shareholders, but they're quick to jump on people paid so little by those same companies that they have to rely on government assistance to eat.
Let’s not forget the CEO of Kroger who promised “hazard pay” for the grocery workers at the height of lockdown & then immediately rescinded that promise & gave himself a 22 million bonus. As long as you’re a rich, white, straight male you get a pass, but god forbid you’re female, POC, or disabled & you seek assistance, then you’re a leech. 🤦♀️
Tbh it gets a little exhausting seeing so much emphasis on “Raise the minimum wage! Pay workers for their labour!” and then dead silence about unemployed people and people who are unable to work and disabled people. We deserve a liveable income too.
petition to move from "nobody working full-time should be unable to survive!" to "nobody should be dependent on the ability to spend 40+ hours a week at their job to survive"
Being 18-25 is like playing a video game where you’ve skipped the tutorial and you’re just sort of running about with no idea how anything works
Being 25-30 is like later on in the game when you’ve figured out how things work, but have made poor leveling decisions along the way and are now horribly underpowered for what you’re supposed to be doing.
Being 30-35 is coming to the conclusion that if wildly swinging a sword at random while screaming has gotten you this far, may as well keep at it.
