Did I ever talk abt the time i was at a bdsm club and one of the pups was on all fours and barking and being cute and the dom on scene was like “hi puppy! Do you do any tricks?” And he said “I can beatbox!”
I was like. Doubled over incapacitated laughing the entire time. He was really good and a big sweetheart and I felt kinda bad but I couldn’t stop thinking “why the am I getting the beatboxing puppy unskippable cutscene at the bdsm club”
Dragons are fireless until they undergo the Hroom, the traditional draconic ceremony where a fledgling dragon will go out into the world and make a bargain with a spirit of elemental fire to live in their soul in a state of mutual symbiosis. The spirit receives shelter and nourishment, while the dragon receives a source of elemental fire, which it can only now use to defend itself.
In many draconic cultures, the Hroom marks a dragon’s coming of age, a time to recognize that a dragon is now of a proper age to hold a weapon and defend itself. Some dragons believe that it is only by bonding with an elemental spirit that a dragon has a soul, and that a dragon is only a whole dragon when it has both the mortal shell and the inner spark.
There has been a backlash to this in recent centuries, of course. Fledglings these days are going out and making bargains with all kinds of things. This is usually spirits of elemental lightning and ice, but more than one dragon has come back to their clutch with a fairly bewildered witch.
#Does the witch live inside the dragon's soul after...?
Metaphorically, yes. One dragon had married the witch she brought back to her clutch, and she said that meant their two souls had become one, which was basically the same thing.
The other dragons in her brood said it didn’t work that way, but she was able to breathe pure magic afterwards, so it at least worked that way for her.

i'm a little tutorial fairy and i flutter around after you and go like "remember, turning on your lantern can improve visibility in dark places!" but then suddenly i feel like i'm being annoying and i get really quiet and distant for the next three hours

The grip that Burger & Big Drink has on the American People cannot be overstated
the first man to call me mean was my father who muttered the accusation into his broccoli before then, satisfied with the sound of the words, loudly declared them to the table at large
and his words struck me deeply because i had already softened the story that had earned this verdict, wrapped cotton around the reality of my fists and slashed all the swear words out of the script before telling my family about the theater and the boy and the darkness from earlier that day
"I-- he wasn't allowed to do that," i stuttered.
and my father said that he just had sympathy is all. one red-blooded american male to another. that i could have said yes. could have given the boy a chance.
the next time i told my family a story at the dinner table, i'd learned my lesson.
"i hit him," i said. i saw my father's face contort out of the corner of my eye. my heart raced. i smiled through my trembling chin. "he kept doing it. so i hit him again."
"that makes you a bully."
this label fit me better. "only to people who bully me first."
"you can't--"
"i think he deserved it," my brother said and fist bumped me over the bowl of mashed potatoes
"me too," my sister said. she watched my dad with interest, learning her own lessons. "im glad you hit him."
"you can always tell a teacher," my step-mom said, diffusing. she offered my dad more wine. "that should be the first step."
"you're going to kill someone one day," my dad said.
and, angry and fourteen, i hoped he was right.

How it feels to imagine a female character's voice as deep when you read the source and then watch an adaptation that gives her some Elmo ass voice
The zipper merge requires a level of cooperation and goodwill that the citizens of this great country have never once displayed
Sometimes I just randomly think of that time in ATLA where the Northern Water Tribe, previously thought so safe, is under attack by a massive fleet, and they’re trying to hold the line but there are just too many ships, and the Avatar’s been kidnapped and dragged out into the snow and Sokka and Katara go to rescue him and it’s super dramatic and everyone’s in danger and they’re found Aang and he’s SAFE
And Sokka just gets distracted by what good quality rope he was tied up with and decides to keep it.
First, Sokka, your origins growing up in a poor isolated fishing village are showing. Good practicality there.
Second, this is what every DnD character is like.
i do think what gets ignored about carrie as a character is that she’s an incredibly easy target to bully; she’s a chubby, sheltered acne ridden teenage girl who wears frumpy grandma clothes and regurgitates the jesus freak shit her violently abusive mother tells her. she has violent thoughts about her classmates and is uncomfortable to be around. she’s far more interesting being a victim that’s somewhat uncomfortable to be in the head of than a tragic waif. she’s not a martyr, she’s a child and a child who’s been victimised her whole life shouldn’t have to be kind and angelic to be recognised as a victim. suffering teenage girls shouldn’t just be presented on screen as toned down glamorous thin ophelias, suffering teenage girls can be fat and poor and think violently. i do think we need to examine why culturally we need teenage girls to be beautiful and kind to valorise their suffering and treat it as bad
