Wait wait it's said Kodaka said somewhere, there are DR characters who aren't virgins? That's pretty interesting. Also yeah I feel Sayaka is on the not a virgin list. For Akane my own guess she was assaulted like you said or..well she needs money for her siblings..so.
Also Miu if she isn't a virgin, I feel she might be the only one who didn't get R-worded.

While this trope can be handled thoughtfully, poor execution often reduces the assault to a convenient sympathy trigger, brought up mainly when the character seeks emotional validation, often from an attractive new love interest. And most of the time, outside of those moments, the experience has little influence on the character’s life.

//Also, here's an especially depressing fact for ya'll douche-canoe's out there! About 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men have experienced attempted or completed rape in their lifetime!
//This is a MUCH bigger problem for Fanganronpa's than it is in the main series. I'm sick and tired of seeing creators throw this barbaric bullshit around for shock value and to make you feel depressed without actually diving deeper into how serious an issue this is and how many people actually suffer from sexual abuse and assault.
//Going back to my two examples earlier, Mikan and Kotoko are both examples of actually fairly accurate experiences, because they're both clearly very broken and ruined people because of what they've been through. Kotoko especially because, you know, she's a FUCKING CHILD.
//And Ultra Despair Girls obviously has elements of pedophilia and r-wording in it, among many other horrible human acts, that are accurately portrayed as the disgusting fucking inhuman unforgiveable goddamn acts that they are!

//Genuinely, one of the most challenging things about character writing in Survivor is trying to rebuild the connection between Nagisa and Monaca as part of Monaca's redemption story. Because while I do desire to have them rekindle and form an actual good relationship, I don't forgive Monaca for the shit she did to Nagisa in UDG and Nagisa shouldn't either!
//I'm looking at two particular Fanganronpa creators when I say that. Not gonna name any names, but hopefully you'll connect the dots yourself.
//I genuinely believe that people who have actually suffered through this sort of stuff deserve to be seen and heard. Not to take pity on them, but so we can be fully aware of how common this is, and how deep the suffering of these people go. So we can...you know...DO SOMETHING about it.
//And the writers who throw the idea around passively, for no reason other than to make their characters more empathetic, most of the time, do the REVERSE. Because they portray it so unrealistically.

i really like fallout because, unlike a lot of media that uses retrofuturism as just a cool aesthetic, fallout’s obsession with 1950s americana actually means something. it’s not just chrome fins and googie diners, it’s weaponized optimism. it’s that sickly-sweet propaganda sheen slathered over nuclear terror, where smiling mascots tell you to duck and cover while the government quietly preps for the end of the world. it’s about a country that believed so hard in its own greatness it signed its death warrant in cursive.
fallout takes that warped, post-war idealism, the “gee whiz!” charm of suburbia on lithium. and drags it through the dirt, showing us what happens after all the white picket fences melt into radioactive slag. in a world shaped by that specific brand of McCarthyist exceptionalism, the future isn’t flying cars and robot butlers, it’s a dinky holotape of your last moments before the bombs hit, looping forever. like vault 11, the one where the final recording plays after everyone’s already dead, revealing the whole “sacrifice one person every year or everyone dies” mandate was a lie. a loyalty test. a sick joke. and the vault passed, right before it failed, because paranoia and desperation had already eaten them alive.
that’s fallout. not just the end of the world, but the punchline that comes after the moral.
and honestly? that hits way harder than any sleek utopia. because fallout remembers: beneath all that pastel patriotism and canned laughter, something was always rotting.
I’m so emo about willow schnee like she was just trying to survive an abusive relationship and couldn’t protect her kids from that abuse and couldn’t cope with all of it 😭 i love that we can see her recovering in v8 and the v9 epilogue once she’s been away from him 😭
Oh this 100% this but also that she summoned a boarbatusk meaning she used to fight and was probably a huntress or at least trained as one, with ptsd symptoms shown, suggesting theres so much more to her than what we see.
