I want to make this post about Ran Mouri because, yes, there’s a lot of things to say about her and I love Ran Mouri and her unicorn hair style, that’s the true haha :)
A couple days ago I was reading some DC forums and I was a little sad because some fans really think Ran character is useless, she never helps and her development as a character is poor (which is sadly true)
I want to get this straight: Ran Mouri is NOT a detective, she doesn’t want to be one either. Shinichi is a detective, Heiji is a detective, Kogoro is a detective (no kidding) and Masumi Sera is a detective. Stop trying to make her a detective, please.
Ran has another interests, she is a karate champion, she seems to like to study, she makes almost everything in her house. She is like Kogoro’s mother and let’s face it: another girl in her situation would choose to live with her mother, it would be a lot easier, Eri seems to have money and she lives in a better place. But no, Ran have chose to live with Kogoro, and clean, cook and do almost everything for him. I don’t know if she had chose Kogoro because he is a detective and she wanted to be closer to Shinichi, that would be another reason. But I really think she have chose Kogoro because she loves him and she knows he couldn’t make it alone, and she is waiting for the Eri’s big comeback.
I have a friend and a lot of girls loves him because he is massive. He has muscles, big arms, abs, and muscles, muscles, muscles. He goes to the gym like 5 days a week and goes to biking every morning and I don’t want to talk about his food. So, a couple months ago he was with his girlfriend in a park, she had her iPhone in her hand and in a moment some boy got close to her, punched her in her stomach, grabbed the iPhone and ran. The girl have fallen crying on the floor in front of my stupid friend and his muscles, he had seen everything and was paralyzed. HE DID NOTHING TO HELP HER. WITH. HIS. MUSCLES.
That’s the moment when I think: Being strong is one thing, being brave is about everything.
This is the moment when I want to punch Shinichi a little (just a little because I love him so much). Two times when someone talks about Ran being strong and he always asks the same
Why when someone said Ran is strong, Shinichi always thinks about karate? WHY?
I think this is the reason why he said Ran is his most difficult case. He is thinking all the time in protecting her by not telling her the truth and he is so afraid with the B.O around her that he doesn’t even realize how strong and brave she really is.
For me Ran is a hero since I was a child. She is not only the good girl waiting for our hero. What I really think is that, unlike our favorite detectives, she acts by her feelings and heart in the cases where she gets involved, and she doesn’t care risks her own life to save another person, she works to save, not to discover the criminal.
Vermouth was the one who said Ran is an angel, and I think that is like a Gosho thing (He loves Ran). Ran doesn’t have so much interest in resolve cases and murders and show us how smart she is because she knows that is detective’s work.
Let’s remember. Ran’s first case (Episode 191)
Ran was the one who finds out the husband of her new friend was acting suspicious only by watching him and that way she helps to save her life.
Her another case (Episode 343-344)
Ran helps her friend Aya to find out who was the real robber before the owner of the convenience store calls the police accusing her. It was really cute when she tells Shinichi her theory.
These are some of my favorite memorable Ran moments. Risking her own life to save others, even the bad guys. I think this is the reason why I think she is awesome.
BTW, I think there’s a lot of heros in DC world and I love them all. I just wanted to focus in Ran this time.
