I meant for this to primarily be a Harry Potter fan blog, but ended up taking a long stroll through radfem lands... and now going to try for a better balance because I'm back in the mood for HP.

I'm Gender Critical/Radfem leaning (still learning)

Pro JKR. I used to be one of those 'oh it sucks that she's gone evil, what a shame' until I actually did some research. I figured if I was going to hate what what said and did, I should look to see what she said and did... and realized she was right. Boy, that was strange. Personally I love how passionate she is about charity work and is one of the very few people I've seen consistently bringing attention to the plight of women in Afghanistan. Here's a cool link to an article about her charities that I personally enjoy. Also I love her twitter. She is a bit unhinged and I love it.

Harry Potter wise, I'm mainly interested in canon and especially getting to read a good bit of analysis. Feels like I'm 20 years late to the party, but I'm here now, and rereading the series as an adult has been a very cool experience. Favorite characters are Dumbledore and Snape.

Super TERFY posts on TikTok are pulling like 400k likes and most of them are from black women. One post was even unpacking how the entire concept of TERF might be bullshit. All of them agreeing it’s a silencing tactic. I didn’t know the peak happening over there was so drastic.

This is Doris Pollas, the cofounder of the organisation now known as lgbt+ Denmark which by being founded in 1948 is one of the oldest ongoing queer organisation in the world.

Doris lived in a farm in Jutland as a child. She was always butch and figured out she was a lesbian in her teens. When she heard about a club in copenhagen where boys kissed boys and girls kissed girls she went just some months after and it was through that club she started a paper connecting queer people all up to seventies and co founded lgbt+ Denmark.

She is now 97 years old and wishes for every queer person to have an as loving and accepting family as she did.

I don’t see a lot of older gays from my country, so learning about Doris, a masc lesbian, was really nice.

This is also true for trans people. I've heard 'they hate all trans people so it doesn't matter you say/do!'

A trans person who is just quietly living their life (and being respectful of others, that's key!), is VERY different from someone who says they're pronouns are bun/bunself/it and if you don't call them by their pronouns or respect every kink or, god forbid, are a lesbian with boundaries, then they think they have a right to physically assault you.

I think history will prove her right, and she'll be known for not just her books but her courage in standing up for women, especially when she was/is ruthlessly demonized, harassed, and punished for it. And also for being a major philanthropist helping women and children, obviously.
