Feeling a bit thoughtful today, expressing myself as a new Vegan in Minnesota.
I recently came into this community after a challenge called “No Meat May” of 2016 on Instagram. After 30 days of no meat, I quickly learned that not only did I not need meat to be healthy or strong, I didn't want it anymore. It became unnecessary all together for me.
Long story short...after a few documentaries and my own extensive personal research- I decided to go Vegan.
This lifestyle and way of eating changed my life forever. I feel as though I have finally found my purpose. I have always felt “out of the loop” or like I don't belong, but since these last few months I have met so many kind hearted people within the community who have opened up and accepted me like I have never been. Online, in person, and in Minneapolis, MN mostly. Building each other up constantly, liking/ reposting/ sharing what each other have to say. Really more like friends.
I used to think that the word Vegan sounded to extreme. Within my surroundings, it was looked at and mocked as a silly group of people (hippies) pushing their beliefs on others. Now I know that is could not be any farther from the truth. I have never met more compassionate, and caring people in my 27 years of life.
I describe going Plant-Based as a “light going on.” (In my experience)
One day I ate meat, exploited animals like the majority of the USA- And the next I didn't. And I couldn't ever again. All I want to do now it help these creatures, love them, and let them be. Live and let live.
PLNT BSD to me isn't just a Clothing Brand or a “little T-Shirt Company” as a close family member put it once. Its a passion to me. Its about spreading the word about a Plant-Based diet and starting a conversation with friends/ family/ strangers.
