This kind of thing can be hard to intuit, since there are no hard and fast rules. Obvious examples include words likeĀ ānurseā, which may be technically gender neutral, but itās got such a strong feminine connotation that many people will clarifyĀ āmale nurseā. Less obvious examples are words likeĀ āmusclesā, which all humans have, but the default interpretation is like, a manly guy with bulging biceps.
Many many words have social gender thatās difficult to notice, either because of the natural struggle to seeĀ gender, or because itās just that subtle. So a corpus analysis like this is exciting because it gives concrete data on words we might not have thought twice about!!

I think the level of vitriol displayed here really shows how few TRAs have had to actually go through even the mildest forms of homophobia. I remember as a young girl I would sometimes ask my parents or my religious ed teachers why being gay was immoral, they would always say that it was because people in same-sex relationships couldn't naturally conceive. Always. When you hear that constantly growing up, and when you are taught that a women's purpose is to bear children growing up, you start to feel very very ashamed of the fact you won't ever have a happy opposite relationship because such a thing is impossible for you. Ultimately, jokes like the one made here, I think, are an attempt to take pride in what others despise you for, and to love yourself. But because so few 'queer' people nowadays are actually gay or lesbian, most of them have no empathy for that and immediately turn to vicious hatred.
After all these years, nothing has changed. The idea of a woman who does not want to reproduce is abhorrent to them. They even put TiFs through this, just look at how much they like to talk about trans men getting pregnant, despite how uncomfortable that makes many actual trans men. And look at how they show relationships: whenever it's a 'gay' relationship, one is cis and one is trans, but whenever it's a straight relationship, both are trans. These people find actual same-sex relationships abhorrent.

And it's actually got to the point I had a doctor give me the TRA sermon on my last visit. I was there to get scripts for my epilepsy, one of which is The Pill, but using The Pill in conjunction with other anti-convulsants will negate the birth control effect (which I only learned a decade into using The Pill that way, luckily that lil bit of medical misogyny didn't land me pregnant, bc of the homosexuality).
Anyway, so the doctor says "you know The Pill won't work as birth control if you use it with your epilepsy meds, so what are you using for birth control?" And I give the ol "being a lesbian lolol" and this man is like "ok but you can be a lesbian and still get pregnant".
And I was almost gonna be like 'what, thru rape, bc I know, but generally women don't use birth control on the off chance they'll be raped' but I'd been asked my pronouns (and not my far more medically relevant sexual orientation) enough times I knew what he meant. So I was like "hahah yeah I don't do that" and this guy just went into lecture mode, telling me lesbians can have dicks and do I know how to use a condom and shit. Wouldn't give me my scripts until I agreed with him that I need to consider dick as a lesbian. I would have just walked out but he was the only bulk bill doctor in 1000km radius and I need those scripts to live so. Filed a complaint after I left but it didn't go anywhere.
But yeah "lesbians can't get preg is transphobia" is so funny to me when this exact point has and is increasingly causing literal life-threatening lesphobia in my day to day.
