I'm debating whether I want to call myself a Swiftie anymore. Don't get me wrong I love Taylor Swifts music, it's fun to decode some easter eggs and I love doing friendship bracelets and cannot wait to trade them at my concert.

But I'm growing to resent the fandom due to the amount of harassment and cyberbullying in this space that is just normalized. Someone can post something innocent like Taylor just existing and people find a way to make insults against her ex Joe Alwyn. Even when we have a picture of Joe in public transport people start calling him poor and insulting him through many different ways. Even before they announced their breakup some Swifties decided to be classist and make fun of him for working in a yoghurt shop in his youth...So you all didn't need to work when you were a teenager? I worked when I was a teenager. Would you bully me for this as well? And what is so bad about public transport?

Did you never learn anything about the effects that bullying can have on someone? The only thing he did "wrong" was not wanting to marry Taylor...? What the duck? Don't get me started on the exes that we have more critical songs about like John Mayer (only what the fandom decided on, no proper confirmation). Sending death threats? Are some of you insanse?

I don't know if I want to be associated with these kinds of people...It just makes me sad and angry. Was it always so bad or did it get worse now?

I’ve been thinking about this scene and how often trotted to illustrate that Archie cares more about Betty than Jughead does.

But I think your reaction to this, and possibly the side you take in the BH vs BA smack down, says a something about how you see M/F relationships.

Jughead in this scene is in trouble and when he’s in a jam he thinks of Betty. He thinks “Betty can fix this.”  Archie on the other hand wants to keep Betty out of it. Keep her protected and in the dark. So who’s the better partner? It depends on how you see relationships. 

If you think a knight in shining armour is the romantic ideal then you’ll say Archie as he nobly protects her from harm. You can’t fault someone being protective. But then again if your ideal is equal partners. A couple who take on each others mess without reservation. If you want a woman to wear that shining armour as often as a man does then you might say Jughead.
