I’ve been teasing this idea for awhile, but I’ve finally created my own Transformers server on Discord! (Though its not just for Transformers. Its also for Gundam, the Brave Series, and any other mecha/robot content.) So Please feel free to check it out if you want to.
if tfp soundwave had a face here's what i imagine he'd look like ✨ considered giving him purple optics but the gold stands out better and is more cat-like 💛
i sketched the face design over a year ago, but didn't have the confidence to share it back then 😔 sometimes it's worth waiting so long on a sketch cos i think he looks better now 💙
Sunnyblue commission animatic for @riderkaitlyn5 after centuries XDD Thank you for waiting >-<
(First draft was with Bluestreak shooting through a large number of buildings through a very small gap in each of them directly into another sniper, but the angle would not allow Sunstreaker to see it in all it's glory, so the idea was changed to a shot in a flight)
Sound from Detroit Become Human - On the Run - Connor chase
hii! (this is my 1st time doing this so idk how it goes-) but can i ask for anything with g1 soundwave? could be a lil kiss, a huggie, sitting on his hand/shoulder, or even chilling inside his cassette player. thanks and happy birthday again!
Ravage the best to cuddle with! But unfortunately that make’s frenzy and rumble jealous, luckily soundwave is there to calm things down
(Sorry this took so long thank u for the bday wishes!)
I watched the whole Unicron arc in Transformers: Prime recently and this was all I wanted to draw XDD I always wish more emotion and tears were shown in times like this.
I am also experimenting with their tear color. Originally I headcannoned cybertronian tears to be their bodies coolant, and so I drew it green. But after Breakdowns line "Boo hoo! I'm shedding lubricant!" While fake wiping a single tear away.. it tells me that they CAN cry and that they obviously cry lubricant. Not coolant.
Buuuuut I felt like blood red tears would be more interesting than the standard yellowish color of clean oil. So I went with that and called it a quirky cybertronian thing <XD
I'll likely change the colors when I make their official redesigns. But hey it was fun to draw for this post at least! :}}
To start off, before the Age of Wrath (aka before the Quintessons), there used to be many more languages across various bot groups living on Cybertron. Most of these languages (and cultures) have been eradicated by Quintesson rule in an effort to "unite" (more like control) the population
They didn't completely succeed.
"Old Cybertronian" is a tricky term because it's meant to encapsulate the various languages/dialects whose recordings survived the Quintesson era despite their policies. A regular ol' bot believes it's the only old language available, but anyone with an interest in history knows it's supposed to be a catch-all term
The language the Quintessons were trying to push was a sort of Lingua Franca of the most "common" languages of the time (aka the ones with the greatest populations). This slowly turned into modern day "Cybertronian" (or well, the language most dominant across the polities). Even so, there are variations of it (and different dialects) all across the planet. Accents are definitely a thing, and even if we can't hear them in the show, the bots certainly can
For example, Ratchet, Optimus and Ultra Magnus have a distinctly Iacon accent. Megatron has a Kaonan accent, Starscream (and Skyquake/Dreadwing) have Vosnian accents, Knock Out has a Praxian accent, etc
Dialects (and even separate languages) are pretty important, especially to the most "independent" polities. Vos has quite a few dialects, mostly used between fliers. They can certainly speak Common Cybertronian, but it's usually with strangers (or when they're trying to communicate on a global scale). Remember, because of the sheer scale of polities, there is typically more than one dialect per state, but usually one is favored more than the others
Newly-emerged protoforms typically learn Common Cybertronian as their first language, but depending on their mentors, their native tongue may be a dialect instead (a common practice in Vos). It's mostly looked down upon by other polities because it's usually a way to symbolically claim independence from the other dominant polities, but I digress
Though, there are rare cases where bots don't speak Common Cybertronian. They can certainly use their built-in translators to understand others (and make themselves understood) - but anyone who doesn't know the common tongue is considered a "social failure"
Now, there's still a major difference between "proper" Cybertonian/dialects and the ones used by the laboring castes. Yay. Classism. Megatron for example had to adopt formal Cybertronian in order to reach as many bots as he did through his speeches. But in the company of other laborers, I can see him slipping back into his old ways. Still sad he had to change his manner of speaking in order to be taken seriously :(
As the war goes on, Common Cybertronian has continued to evolve. New words have sprung up, and without a rigid academic structure controlling its evolution, there's a real chance multiple new dialects have popped up, evolving from Cybertronian mixed with prior dialects
Then there's the whole thing with Earth/other alien languages. I like to think most bots have an advanced translator that, when able to access language databases, can facilitate communication. Think of it as an ever-evolving system that can adopt new words and definitions - but it's quite flawed since if the bot in question misunderstands a phrase/word, the definition/usage can get muddled. Still, the more time bots spend with humans, the more they're able to learn an adapt in order to make their speaking seem "natural"
Now, there's a specific scene I have a hard time with at the start of season 2. When Fowler had to pretend to be a vehicon while speaking to Breakdown. I have three theories regarding this:
Breakdown didn't process he was hearing English, probably from the stress of the extremely shitty stuff that happened to him (MECH, having to prove his worth in the Decepticons, tight deadlines, who knows what else)
Ratchet has created a translator for the humans to access (my best bet is him doing this for Raf - but it really came in handy later on)
Idk - I guess Breakdown is used to speaking in English with the vehicons? Considering how he and KO tend are fond of puns and wordplay (that's not even mentioning KO watching human movies), maybe he sometimes speaks to curious vehicons this way (especially since we've seen him talking casually to them in the Synth-En episode)
For now, this is about all I got. Can you tell I love worldbuilding?
