I fully, 100% fundamentally believe that any politics that basically has parents give the responsibility of 'protecting' their children to the government, really just shows that they've lost it.

If your kids is on the internet, it's your responsibility to keep them safe. It's your responsibility to show them how to navigate it properly, using the tools that are very easy to acquire and use to block sites you don't want them to see. You can even get a blanket thing done by internet providers that has water-shed times on them (which is basically anything adult/mature accessible after 9PM).

Just a blanket initiative of "Children shouldn't see this, so NO-ONE can see this!", especially with software and programs that are very much shit does nothing except be a hollow gesture of "Well, we tried" from the British government, which is really all they're capable of doing.

Why does it matter if someone who calls themselves Christian doesn’t believe in the basic theological principles? So long as they follow Jesus and his teachings, then they can call themselves Christian, right?

Wrong.

For example, Ghandi followed the teachings of Jesus. He was greatly inspired by the Sermon on the Mount. He was not Christian, nor could he call himself Christian. Because he believed in a different God or divine system.

Jordan Peterson, proclaimed theist, is not a Christian. But he acknowledges that following the teachings of the Bible and of Jesus are better for humanity and society as a whole.

Many, many people who are not Christians can follow Jesus’ teachings.

What matters is what God you believe in and serve. And the basic Christian theology of the Trinity, divinity and humanity of Jesus, along with his death and resurrection help us understand what God we believe in and worship and follow.

Believing that God is One God, with 3 distinct persons, and has always been One God with 3 persons is essential to being a Christian. Believing that Jesus is one of the eternal persons of the Triune God and is also human is essential to being a Christian. Believing that Jesus died, completely and totally and that he descended into Sheol, and that he rose again, resurrected in the resurrection that will be given to all who believe in him is essential to the Christian faith.

You cannot believe that God is three separate beings united in one purpose and be Christian because you are fundamentally worshiping a different God. You cannot believe that God doesn't have three distinct persons and be a Christian because you believe in a different God. You cannot believe that Jesus was a created being who was made divine, because that is a different Jesus than the one in the Bible. You cannot believe that Jesus did not actually die on the cross, or that he was not raised from the dead, because that is not what the Bible teaches.

This is why the LDS Church, the Seventh Day Adventists, the Jehovah's Witnesses, and many other religions that call themselves Christian are wrong. They believe in a fundamentally different God than the one that has revealed himself to us through the Bible. Following Jesus' teachings alone does not make you a Christian. Following and believing in the Word of God, in Jesus who is eternal and everlasting God and man, who died that we would be freed from death and rose again that we would rise with him is what is means to be a Christian.
